MLG Winter Arena Day 2 - Page 232

Apparently some people are dumb enough to STILL be asking for it, so let's make things clear: Do NOT ask for re-streams, and do NOT post re-streams. Do not come here and muddle the thread by bitching about PPV.

Even though it was a bit of luck that he didn't have to go against Mvp you jsut can't discredit HuK's wins because of that. If anything Mvp falling before he gets to face HuK just showed that Mvp wasn't good enough this weekend.

He won against one of the top protoss in the world and deserves his spot. I think a lot of people don't like him because he's on EG and not on TL anymore. Who knows. Thats probably the only reason. Like a Sox fan hating on a pitcher who gets signed to the yankees :/

Hope you understand now.. You can say the exact samething the other way around too: Naniwa takes the risk to Nexus first (even before forge) without scouting so they dont actually know through scouting information, they eco-cheese and hope to gain a build order advantage. Hope you understand now..

Problem is that he never scouts (except one of the games vs Leenock).

I also like how a bunch of people in this thread said it's ok for Nani to lose to Leenock because he's a GSL champion yet these same people gives Idra a ridiculous amount of shit because he lost to Nestea and MVP (3 time GSL champions).

I think it's a matter of perspective like when Nestea won GSL july but then MVP won the season after. You can't take Nestea's win away from him but you can point out that MVP's win the next season was more impressive ( despite nestea dropping no games in his run) becuase he had a much harder road. Huk should get praise for the wins he got but I can understand not being overly impressed by the wins themselves.

Exactly. He actually almost lost round 1 to minigun, but in game 3 minigun decided to have an aneurysm (I'm assuming) and attack up a ramp against FFs with no massive units and donate his army. He was winning up to that point.

I remember a game where Naniwa went FFE on xel'naga caverns...an atrocious map for trying to FFE. Every other "high end Protoss" 1gate FEs on that map. Yeah he opens differently in that he uses the same build almost every game...

He's never really accomplished anything major that people actually respect. It's bordering on obscenely comical behavior. Nevertheless, the final 6 we have is a truly great group of respectable people who I can all cheer for and share in their mlg championship. Karma. Would you consider winning an MLG a "major acomplishment, that people actually respect"?

Don't assume I'm some kind of xenophobe. I started watching SC2 when I didn't even know about the korean scene, back in the beta. I rooted for white-ra and TLO back in the HDH, I rooted for HuK when he beat Kiwikaki to win his first MLG. THESE were the players that got me into SC2. Then to see pretty much all of them take a back seat to a lot of players I don't have the same kind of connection with is depressing. In my personal case, its the foreign scene that "grew" me as an esports fan. I'd never followed anything like this before SC2 beta. That's reasonable, and I don't have a problem with it. I was similar, in that my favorite player was TLO and my first exposure to the korean scene was Tester back in beta. But after following GSL for so long I feel closer to these players than I ever did to the foreigner scene, and their play is truly inspiring. To see so many people root against them and wish for them to fail is pretty lame to me. They work harder than anyone else and a lot of them don't have the results or recognition to have made it worth it yet. I feel like they deserve better, not necessarily by people like you but those that stop watching tournaments once the foreigners are out or refuse to cheer for them when they win.

Yes, Huk's run so far has been relatively easy, and even that has not been a piece of cake either, as Ret and Oz are both great players. But the run is not over yet. I repeat, Huk's run in this MLG Winter Arena has not yet finished. He could lose the next two series and be eliminated, or he could go on and win it all. He has already had a very strong showing, and he could go even further. Was it the most difficult run? No, but it was still respectable and we need to wait and see how far he goes as the last non-Korean left in the tournament.
