and I agree. first they'd need a quality product for me to consider paying them 20 dollars. and then I still wouldn't pay for it. and I have a job*

I feel no shame in saying that, as they really aren't doing anything special for esports. So, any youtube uploads of the games yet? Half a million in prize money isn't "anything special for esports"? They've put a free stream up and ESL and MLG both do premium streams as well, so I don't see a problem.

Lets see what can u get for $20... A case of somewhat nice beer.. 1 and a half CDs. A nice meal out. 1 lapdance at a strip club. 1 DVD. A haircut.. Or.... more than a month of HBO which produces several high budget shows/movies/miniseries. But yeah $20 for low quality vods is totally worth it. >.>

Most sports survive as grassroots for a very long time before they are taken into the mainstream media, even so they are usually propelled there by stuper stars within the community, rather than the money injection from an audience base. As far as my contributions, well, I run a sc2 team, help run the top amateur korean wc3 team, as well as administrate 2 wc3 leagues, and helped found another which I only stepped down from position recently and before that i actively competed in Canadian 1.6 competitions. So if you want to try to downplay me as your typical TL poster, go ahead, but i can assure you i have contributed my fair share to esports that you cannot guilt me into paying 20$ to two companies i dont care to see succeed. Twenty dollars is a fine price. I am so happy to see nice guys like Artosis, Tasteless up there promoting the good of the game, doing their very best. I am so bloody happy to see non-koreans sitting in those little booths for once... and actually winning games. You think something like this would never happen.. and it is.. and hopefully only a matter of time before it reaches our shores. Yet here they are, the negative posters, in their little crusades and boycotts against the terrible injustices and sub 720p streams they have to suffer. Forget the nerd entitlement issues, get laid, have a beer, enjoy the game and stop banging it down at every opportunity.

it might be a little much for all 12 tournaments a year though 240$ a year isn't exactly chump change

You're going to miss some of the highest quality Starcraft yet played by the time this is over and you're not helping contribute to it happening again in the future by not paying.

Some of us grew up with the idea that we are allowed to choose what we spend our money on. There have been several posts with good, reasonable reasons as to why $20 for a month of VODs is a steep price. For each of those, there was someone who was yelling that we should just pay and shut up because it's helping E-Sports. Obviously, I'm sure that more than half of those who are pushing others to pay have not taken out one dollar out of their own pocket to pay for these, but I digress. Did you, or most of the people here, ever pay for SC1 vods/replays? No? Me neither. Then how the heck did all those big companies survive? You're all CONVINCED that this helps e-sports, but you don't really KNOW whether or not it does. If 5 other companies do this, then the fanbase will be heavily split, which is not always a good thing. How do you know that's helpful to e-sports? I like it how people who are against this have arguments like: low quality vods, content not good enough for $20/month, etc., while the pro-arguments are: just do it, get laid and shut up, this helps e-sports! Good job guys.

The partnership between Tasteless and Artosis is getting better. Tasteless is starting to learn the SC2 features albeit very slowly. Tasteless is starting to revert to his old habits of plugging his website, his team and focusing on critters instead of the action. The games are great, but it is annoying that the VODs are so poor quality. Nothing is preventing them from actually uploading 720p VODs so we can actually see the unit counting station. I love it and I want to support it, but 20$ a month to watch medium quality VODs is a bit harsh. I hope and assume that they will eventually improve that aspect.

Hmm, $30 for 2 hours or $20 for an entire month of top notch esports entertainment? 5 days a week, 3-5 sets being casted daily? Pretty good value in comparison.

Some of us don't care about hearing people speak English. We never did for the original BW vods either. Take it up with the people who uploaded the videos on youku. It's not TL's responsibility.
