This is not the way to court an audience, it's trying to strongarm money away from people without much, just like they're doing to Kespa. I see right through the bastards. I can't believe that they would even try this shit... EDIT: I also woke up to find this in my inbox Nothing particularly new except the same things he did post on the forum. It seems like this fellow is very responsive, so if you have specific queries you might send him an email. EDIT2: If they are actually in the red and need to make a certain amount from this there are so many better ways to do it than gouging foreigners. A 50 cents per replay download from US and Korea could make more money. A 2 dollar pass from US and KOR would make more. Making more from advertisers would probably make more. Cutting costs would increase profits, meaning cut one of the kpop acts or something. Even if everything they are saying is true it still is a slap in the face to foreigners. The honesty is refreshing. However this also says that OGN has been banned from broadcasting the GSL. So no freebies for the koreans?

The choice left to us was to either not broadcast at all outside Korea or charge them. this is just a huge pile of BS there would have been another option: not to provide english streaming but NOT BLOCK IPs FROM OUTSIDE; if providing a service in the US is too expensive - fair enough; but actively preventing people from accessing the korean source adds a whole new dimension to this

I seriously and truly hope that not a single person pays for this. ( Very far fetched hope, considering how stupid the general gaming society is and would shell out the money for this) This is just sad.

If that email is real that helps explain alot. I wish they just say shit like that in there orginal post as being blunt helps understand the situation alot more. I guess they don't want to look weak, or whatever. Also plz you or a mod edit that guys name out. I think its pretty clear he did not want that geting out in the public.

I don't see what is wrong with it and I told him I would be posting the email in the response I sent him. Maybe I told him at too short of notice, but there's no problem with that right?

The first paragraph sounds more like a threat than anything. And like I said before, if they were really so far in the red already, then by expanding blindly like this only shows them to be either very greedy or very stupid. Or both (baby's first monopoly and all). I hope they will be able to clean up their mess, cause I highly doubt the community will be sympathetic enough to do it for them.

Some of these informations, I was not allowed to mention on the post at TL. I trust you with this information because you have made a polite request despite your frustration and anger. I think he might have a problem with this mail + his name on TL. ![]()

Yeah, it just seems to me like they mismanaged their funds and have decided to take it out on the foreigners. If the cost of running a server in America is the issue, why would they not allow people to restream the Korean stream? As far as I know, it would cost them nothing, other than any potential lost funds they're trying to squeeze out of us. The more I look at this email, the more convinced I am that they just want to squeeze all of the money out of us that they can. I don't particularly care for financing GOM's poor decision making. They could have pretty easily cut some money from other parts of their budget (like the gigantic prize pool) in order to provide access for foreigners. Instead, they chose to disrespect us by treating us as just an easy source of capital rather than a potential market for the future. I also still don't understand the price point. It seems like such a high price will earn them less money than they would get if they just lowered the price. The more I look at the whole thing, the more it looks like GOM is being run by completely clueless people. Case in point: Edit: Quote removed by request of original poster.
