Two things as public notice: 1. + Show Spoiler [Quarterfinals 1 spoiler] +Congrats to Fnatic, they played superbly and glgl to them in the Semis! No one is saying that Fnatic only won because of the level 1 in Game 3. Please keep the nationalistic statements out of our subforum. 2. Riot's Worlds format is atrocious. Let's not beat a dead horse here. I will certainly be talking to Riot's eSports dept about it in the near future. I simply ask everyone to be civil. Humble in victory, graceful in defeat. Enjoy the games~ -Neo, Sept 23rd, 3:20 PM PDT, page 120 |
wait, why the fuck are the games at 7 pm today rather than the random ass 12 pm earlier?

probably biggest thing to take from this is that Nagne apparently has a pocket nidalee

Because making sense is cool.

this is the only problem here, ppl fail to accept this simple fact literally no one is asserting NA>EU. rather, what people are trying to argue is that EU is not so incredibly stronger than NA. The difference is much smaller than everyone originally realised. Also, no one with any shred of understanding of the pro scene would cite All-Stars as being indicative of the strength of the regions. EU All-stars failed because they had major communication issues due to different languages. I also find it funny how that one guy was saying he's basing his conclusions on results when the results very clearly show that there is much less of a gap between EU and NA than people thought pre-Worlds. EDIT: I'm actually rather surprised that Sword knocked out Gambit. Re Sword v Gambit. I dunno really. If we imagine a world where Sword stops picking Nunu because it's a worthless champ (awesome baron steals notwithstanding), I feel like the would have rolled gambit. Their 2v2 lane was absolutely dominant, to the point where as long as they could force that interaction and weren't trying to 4.5v5 (Nunu sucks) it would have been much less competitive. The big news from that match though is that SKT T1 is a heavy favorite from their side of the bracket given how underwhelming Sword looked against a Gambit team that didn't appear to be in top form during groups. Also, I need to apologize to Neo for the (joking) grief I gave for the regions Mod-edit. There have been some awful posts just today, what might have been without the no-nonsense rule reminder is terrifying. Mea culpa. Mock nunu all you want, game 3, Watch had some perfect nunu ulti's. I mean yes he totally stonewalled the one eve flank, and was generally functional as meat-shield/zone control. There are so so so many other champions that would've been able to bring that to the table as well as the benefit of not being a worthless fucking Nunu after ~10minutes (some hyperbole detected). They didn't even counterjungle with Nunu, and that's like the only thing the champ does well. I don't think they picked nunu that blindly though, they had a plan and it worked very well. Nunu offers so much utility without needing items, thus allowing him to be ward bitch + oracle bitch.

And despite some really solid play, he was basically not a factor in solidifying the lead for his team. He got 100% carried by Pray/Cain. You can get some really good (insert AOE ult here) with a myriad of other junglers, why Nunu - ESPECIALLY when your AD carry is Corki? If Genja/Voidle didn't get totally smashed by Pray/Cain, Najin would have been FUCKED with the teamcomp they drafted. Let's go over how badly Gambit's bot lane fucked up: - lol voidle spoiling diamond's perfect lanegank setup - lol voidle catching hooks into both he+genja dying in a pure 2v2 scenario. - Gambit orchestrates a huge gank bot, but voidle suicides for free before anything really happened, Shen uses ult to try and turn the fight, but the fight goes even while Renekton gets an insurmountable lead on Darien (which would have been balanced by objective gold/kill XP if gambit didn't lose a 5v4.) After all that failage (which was ALL bot lane) gambit was done, and all Watch had to do as a jungler was be a warm body. Every lane on Najin was ahead of their counterpart due to bot lanes failing, and they still struggled to close because their comp was shit. But isn't that the whole point of nunu's ult, and his utility? Let your botlane carry your ass? While you make it impossible for them to get on your ADC, while your ADC is running around at huge MS boost+AS boost.

As an uniformed guess? To create at least one set of Euro-friendly times and Asia-friendly times. So think of tonight's schedule as making sure China can see the OMG v Royal rematch with the winner queued up for a finals against SKT.+ Show Spoiler +Yes Europe, Fnatic is a totally worthy semifinalist and could very reasonably make the finals too. They will be an underdog against either Chinese team imo.

Because that's the Riot schedule. :V. It's been like that for the whole tournament btw: 2pm Korean time; 1pm Taiwan time. I guess it's better than early morning for them meh.

Honestly the big chance for the West to watch a Chinese vs Chinese team and it's set in a time zone that caters to a region that can watch it all the time.

The CN v. CN in Round 1 is the only sad part of the tournament seeding to me (Possible 2 KR semi is also kinda lame). Perfect bracket would be:
Bears v. OMG, NJS vs. Fnatic/Gambit /// Royal vs. SKT, C9 vs Fnatic/Gambit. That would have been the most fun for me.
|
On the bright side china is guaranteed a spot in the semi finals
|
I'd actually loved to see NJS vs OMG. I think CN vs Kor matches are pretty highly anticipated. If anything I'd rather get Bears to draw Gambit because we don't know how strong Bears are but Gambit looked shaky during groups. Fnatic vs C9 should happen as it's the strongest NA team vs the strongest EU team. That leaves Royal vs SKT which i perfectly fine IMO. =)

Picking your opponent is by far the best way to add hype to any competition and isn't used nearly enough. Even athletic sports would benefit immensely. There's just built in drama.
