What do you mean? I mean yeah, the majority of pros was always korean but some foreigners could still keep up in the early 2000s. I mean broodwar never took off in the west like it did in korea so it's pretty obvious it's going to be dominated by koreans

And cmon NA has #1 dramalamas. If they aren't careful they will end up being only known for their dramalama. I wonder if there are any under the radar teams that haven't done tournies yet but have the potential to do well? In any region?

I mean they have the money and the population playing yet always seem to not have as many top teams as say EU/Asia. Not just talking about LoL here either. In SC2 the same thing is noticed. Why exactly does the NA scene lack conversion of players to teams? Well the most obvious answer would be that they don't take the game as serious. Other than that, I don't really know, the US has always had less top players than EU/Asia in almost any PC game.

Why exactly does the NA scene lack conversion of players to teams? One reason imo is that Eu university students just have more time than American students. Especially because studying in Europe is partly free. And many "professional" gamers (at last in Europe) are university students.

NA scene I think always rocks early on in the games life then falls away. I thought gaming is far more acceptable in NA than most other countries, I mean there's always a massive population playing the game so is it just going serious that's the issue?

They only beat M5 in qualifiers(I think) and then took 4th, while all still being in highschool.

Why exactly does the NA scene lack conversion of players to teams? The US and Canada are really fuckin' big dude. Russia only has one top LoL team. Probably for a lot of the same reasons why the NA scene has so few. When we're talking about EU teams we're basically just talking about EU West teams since that's where like 90% or more of the top players are coming from. Size is 100% relevant in these conversations imo. South Korea is a pretty small country. Much easier to find players who have the talent to do well in video games, much easier to organize into team houses, and it's much easier to go to events. I would say the same thing applies for west Europe although to a lesser degree because most of these teams are from various countries. Having a big player pool and being in a large country is not advantageous in an underdeveloped competitive scene. As for Koreans dominating LoL, might happen. But as is, people are acting like the NA teams are super outclassed by EU/Asia teams already. CLGna, TSM, Dignitas, and probably TSM-EG can definitely take games off any other team in the world. edit: I mean, you only have to win two games to win a series in LoL. I think CLG/TSM/Dignitas/EG could all win two games against M5 or MiG or WE or any other team. I'd still give the advantage to some of those other teams, but that doesn't mean their scenes are inherently stronger. I don't think top EU or KR or CN teams are very far ahead of top NA teams. Just imo.
