I don't want to start it back up either but crux argument is that if you have consistent access to CS, you don't need GP10 because it delays your big, key items. If you don't have access to consistent CS (jungler), can stay in lane forever (certain high sustain top laners) or do not CS at all (oh hey, supports), GP10 is good. That is why AD/AP mid and bot don't get GP10.

Also, Ty for your post earlier. I'd buy hog or kindle generally around 15 to twenty but never put much thought into why. Needing the extra hp as others hit lvl 12 makes a lot of sense

I don't know. Ryze's stuff is all point and click and has practically no CD. Its pretty easy to dodge ahri's E and the true damage part of q. Once she has blown either you have a window to threaten qwq. Ryze's harass just feels more reliable. He can also build bullshit like a negatron after tear & boots1. Also I spec him in defense + ultility for spellvamp mastery. That plus spellvamp quints on ryze is stupid sustain in lane.

I hate facing ryze in lane, it feels so i don't know un-interacted? You can spend the entire lane landing skill shots pulling of perfect maneuvers and then he walks up and mashes the buttons and you lose 1/2 your life. Then you get to late game and he 1v5'

Well she can keep throwing out Qs from max range, you can just dodge them and keep on farming. Its not like you need to kill her to win lane. When her Q is on CD you can kinda advance forward to threaten your combo, she has to back off from a couple CS.

So uh, before I leave I'm gonna leave this post here and check up on responses when I wake up.
From my experiences in 1400-1500 ELO ranked games, it seems that people are extremely picky (tier-list slaves) about their team's picks.
However watching streams of people like HSGG, I see picks like Kat, Olaf, Poppy, etc. Is it just because people at higher elos are more chill, or is it because of a difference in skill that people at high elo aren't picky about champions?

From personal experience, it is in Gragas's favour whenever Ahri is not level 6 or her ult is on cooldown. Once she has her ult, it is a bit harder.
Level 1 and 2, just try to play safe, avoid fox fire. Once you hit 3 or 4 and have your full kit, threaten her with barrels and body slams.
Once she has her ult, be careful as she can dodge your stuff easily and put you in a horrible position. After she uses it though, you can continue to be agressive (but not megagressive, don't get charmed under the tower).

Play Nasus, just last hit and pretty much ignore him as he'll never have the mana to hurt you pre-tear.

Ok, I've been playing a little bit more of swain, and this is my build so far. still up for tweaking.
9/0/21, Saw this on some guide, and it worked pretty well, though I might want to go for like a 14/0/16? or something like that.

mr/lvl blues
ap quints.
Now for items I open up boots 3 pot. and try and get sorcboots + roa ASAP.
so far so good?
the problem I have with swain, is that I'm ATROCIOUS at farming, with him. Any tips? or just get better at last hitting with his shitty animation?

21 0 9 or 21 9 0. I prefer the former if you can skip the extra hp/resists.

Boots + 3 pots => Catalyst => RoA => Sorc => NLR => Cap or Zhonya's
Farming is incredibly hard compared to other APs who can AoE down creep waves without bombing their mana pool. You just have to zone hard with EQ and last hit like a boss from 1-6. Post 6, just auto all the creeps evenly and Ulti to last hit. Since you max W last, it's usually not worth using to farm at all imo.

I love Swain and have played a few ranked games with him.
I think opening boots pot is smart. Dorans is an option, but it gives you mana regen (mana is not an issue with Swain if you play him correctly) 100 hps and some AP. AP is nice, but your E is everything you need really. Land that and you can just unload with everything else. I take boots pot so I can't be bullied out early. Its all about surviving till 6 and then you will never leave lane unless you want to.
I like the runes.
Masteries, I would also highly suggest 21 into offense. Offensive tree benefits Swain along with many of the other APs. I go 21/9 for additional tankiness, but I don't think 21/0/9 is that good. Once again, you really don't need additional mana regen. Yellows+passive should be all you need.
If you're having trouble farming heres what I do. Simply last hit until 6. Once you get ult, walk into the minions. Force the melee minions to follow you by walking right next to the caster minions. Once all 4-6 are bunched up, ult in and cast W. Pretty good way to insure all minions possible get hit by W. I would be careful if the enemy mid is still hovering around though. If they are, weigh the option of going a bit aggro with E+Q. You just heal up constantly, so don't even worry about taking too much damage from minions.

Yeah just practicing last hiting is the only way to go. I don't find his last hitting to be particularly bad except for the atrocious range but then I play ryze so whatever. Even later on you need to blow a significant amount of mana with W+R to farm unlike most other mages who can clear waves instantly.
Also I'd rather prefer flat MR runes over scaling ones especially if ur going mid with him. Later on you would be buying a chainmail+negatron for resists anyway.

So I'm thinking to pick up udyr and practice my jungling as I level up my EUNE account (lvl20 atm). What are the general opinions regarding phoenix vs tiger stance? What is better for someone who doesn't have a full rune page?

Ok, is it possible to build jungle garen? I tried going 21/9/0 with standard jungling runes but his jungle is just so slow. I would have thought with such a great aoe skill he should do well in the jungle, but he clears camps so incredibly slow.
