I don't think that you can import the kind of medical infrastructure that the mayo clinic provides nor do I think that you are going to get the best of the best to move to russia. There is a very very very long tail to any doctor that you are in contact with at a john hopkins. Sure the frontline people you can pay a few mil for a year in a swiss bank but why would a dna sequencing technician or an radiological technician be persuaded to go to a country you have no freedoms in and can't talk about your boring work? Russia is not a third world country and necessary equipment was already there. I don't think he will fly like some African dictator.

They've certainly bolstered the Azerbaijani military with their equipment and showed off their TB-2's for the first time in their last war between the two. Still have boats?

Another BBC article from the front lines, this time from Velyka Novosilka rather than Bakhmut. Even here the Ukrainians are talking about Russia losing whole brigades.

https://www.t-online.de/nachrichten/deutschland/aussenpolitik/id_100149758/nord-stream-sabotage-russian-tracks.html Summary by ChatGPT, after a lot of prodding. :-P The article reports on an alleged incident involving the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which carries natural gas from Russia to Germany. According to anonymous sources cited in the article, a group of divers planted explosive devices on the pipeline in an attempt to sabotage it. The sources suggest that the divers were working on behalf of a foreign intelligence service, possibly Ukraine. However, the article notes that there is no concrete evidence to support these allegations. The article provides details on the ships that were allegedly involved in the operation. One of the most important ships, according to the article, was the submarine support ship "SS-750", which carries a deep-submergence rescue vehicle named "AS-26" that can evacuate the crew of crashed submarines in an emergency. The article also notes that two other ships suspected of being involved in the operation, the rescue tugs "SB-123" and "Alexander Frolov", left the port of Kaliningrad around the same time frame as the alleged incident. These ships reportedly have cargo cranes on deck that could lower heavy explosive devices or mines into the water. The article notes that the allegations of sabotage come at a time of heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine, and amid concerns about the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and its potential impact on European energy security and geopolitics.

I think they will switch to the narrative that they managed to hold and avoid the attack of Ukraine against Russia and that Ukraine was always planning on invading Crimea and joining Nato and that they succeeded even if the cost was high. Actually, if they stop now, it is a political nightmare. You don't want to give Russia 5 years to rebuild a modern army, right?

An investigation by t-online.de, not sure how credible they are. https://www.t-online.de/nachrichten/deutschland/aussenpolitik/id_100149758/nord-stream-sabotage-russian-tracks.html Summary by ChatGPT, after a lot of prodding. :-P If the question is if they are credible in the sense of doing their due diligence before publishing, then I would say they are. They can get things wrong of course, as any newssource can. I would rate them lower than ARD/Zeit/Times/whatever other big name newspaper, which also is reflected in the writing style I'd say. The article notes that the allegations of sabotage come at a time of heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine, and amid concerns about the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and its potential impact on European energy security and geopolitics. I guess that is one way to describe it. The marvels of AI, that one had me crack a smile. Playing it very safe there with the summary.

It isn't easy to advance without total air or artillery dominance. Even with them it can be hard due to mines and fortifications.
