the cagefight and Banes "speak of the devil" scene the altruism of Batman and does away with the symbol and legend he created. In the end of Dark Knight Batman has just sacrificed EVERYTHING for the greater good, yet here no such action is truely done - BW knows that the autopilot works, so he is basicly just staging his own death. Also, catwoman and BW became a pair way to easily taking into regards how unwilling catwoman is usually portrayed imo. These are the shortcomming that makes the Dark Knight better than Dark Knight Rises for me personally. EDIT: Reading through the older pages of the thread a lot of this has already been touched upon, so feel free to disregard it.

Alright time to stay away from thie thread now. Dude just don't click on the thread. I didn't see the movie until today and I didn't get spoiled a single time. There's no reason to use spoiler tags in a thread like this. You robbed yourself.

Personally, loved it. I'm not sure if it is the best one, because I really do love Batman Begins. I'll marathon them all when the DVD comes out :D

Considering the snub The Dark Knight got last year and the general lack of acknowledgement for the series (aside from The Joker) I think it could end up with a similar result as The Lord of the Rings Return of the King did just not quite as much. At least that is what I hope will happen because the series really deserves acknowledgement along with Christopher Nolan. It is going to get some nominations but I doubt it will win anything major (Best picture actor/actresses/Director) It could win for the stunning visuals or possibly the soundtrack.

I don't think it has a chance with any of the actor awards but Director and Picture were the two big ones I was thinking of. Although TDK probably deserved it more it isn't unheard of for the end of a trilogy to end up receiving more awards than it maybe should (think LOTR) I really hope it wins best picture and best director simply because the series as a whole really deserves it. Easily the best comic book movie series to date and probably for a very very long time if not forever.

Nothing more. | ||

My favourite part was when all three main characters were quite literally wearing masks of varying descriptions. But Robin didn't wear a masks...? I also feel that the use of bland washed out colours, particularly of blue and orange, really added to the feeling of boredom that the scriptwriters and Nolan were clearly looking to generate. Overall mixed feelings 10/10 exquisite what an art.

What was the deal with twoface? He was in an horrific car crash with no apparent side effects because he was simply alive afterwards and it wasnt mentioned again. I'm not even sure what happened to him in the end but hey heath was in it so who cares I was also bored by the part where they go to china to chase some sort of investor or some shit like that. But hey Heath ledger was in it and died RIP angel Heath 10/10 another exquisite film....so dark and realistic;.... anarchy at what price?

The trilogy will undoubtedly have a major impact on the genre. For that is deserves some recognition because there will almost for sure not be another movie this year that can say that.

+ Show Spoiler + Rocky 3? Where Batman = Rocky, and Bane = James Lang (Mr. T). From Wiki for Rocky 3 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_III): "[Rocky's trainer Mickey] also informs Rocky that Lang is young and hungry and that Rocky has no chance of beating him, as he has not retained his edge as a fighter." feels similar to when Bruce and Alfred were looking at the footage, and Alfred continually dissuading him from pursuing Bane. "Lang and Rocky meet at Philadelphia's Spectrum. During a melee before the fight, Mickey is shoved out of the way by Lang and suffers a heart attack. A now distraught Rocky wants to call the fight off, but Mickey angrily urges him on while he stays in the dressing room. By the time of the fight, Rocky is both enraged and severely distracted by his mentor's condition. The fight begins with Rocky pounding Lang with several huge blows, going for an early knockout, but the stronger and better prepared Lang is unfazed and quickly takes charge, dominating Rocky and knocking him out with a haymaker in the second round." Feels similar to when Alfred left Bruce, fight scene very similar to Bruce's first encounter with Bane. And of course, the comeback victory against Bane once Bruce has conquered his body and mind. I dunno, I'm probably stretching it out too much lol, but that was pretty much stuck in my mind during the movie.

IMO at least. + Show Spoiler + For example, she has Gordon and co. mark the wrong truck when they're looking for the bomb. Oh, cool. Didn't think of that. I just wish we saw her do more action that lived up to the legend of her predecessor. It seemed like she just kind of fizzled out On July 23 2012 16:35 TheToaster wrote: Best part of the movie? Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy <3) sitting on top of that giant pile of furniture, trolling everybody as he acts as the standing judge who dishes out ridiculous sentences. I immediately started laughing as soon as his face appeared, because he is obviously the most awesome character and I was dieing to see him make a reappearance. Also, it was kind of awkward getting used to how Bane's voice sounded. At first, I was like "What the fuck is this shit?". But then as the movie progressed I guess his voice kind of went along with his character, who was actually highly intelligent and a mastermind. I totally agree. Scarecrow's appearance was one of the highlights. I loved how ridiculous his podium/throne was. Also- "Death by exile." was pretty funny

Best Supporting Actor for sure, imo, for basically any one of the supporting characters On July 24 2012 14:13 itkovian wrote: Oh, cool. Didn't think of that. Then I saw him and... well, what can I say? Death, by exile!

My only wish is that they delved into these worldviews a little more, and painted better the worldviews of these villians, because that was their identity. can anyone recomend any of the batman series that really try to have compelling villians?

They're all ubermensch, who wish to mold the world to their will. Batman loves his justice, while the joker knows only injustice and chaos. Raz al Ghul shared his love of balance and peace, but just disagreed whether Gotham could be saved. Bane is truly Batman's equal, except his mind and body were crafted from hardship and pain, not privilege. I dunno about scarecrow (i havent read that much batman tbh) My only wish is that they delved into these worldviews a little more, and painted better the worldviews of these villians, because that was their identity. can anyone recomend any of the batman series that really try to have compelling villians? The earlier back you go the worse the movies get, so we can't really nominate anything to watch outside of the Nolan trilogy lol.

Anne Hathaway killed it! By far my favorite of the new characters. I wasn't thrilled with Bane as a character, he seemed so one dimensional especially in comparison to the Joker.

I thought the slightly whimsical tone made his character even more frightening when it was paired with the rest of him. This was clearly a guy who was ruthless and capable of terrifying things, and his voice and tone made it worse because it made it seem like he was always in control and was just toying with his opponents. Bane was always one of Batman's most sophisticated and intelligent foes, so it's not surprising to me that he came off sounding like an aristocrat at times. His mind was always supposed to be a contrast with his physicality, and Hardy's version maintained that. I liked the voice because it reminded me of Deckard Cain, stay awhile and listen. :D
