There is an amazing mod called Overwatch All/Others, it does exactly that, one button and everyone goes on overwatch, or, even more useful you can Overwatch Others, so the guy you have selected does not go into overwatch while the rest of the team does, so you have that one soldier left to bait out some movement from the enemy, can't live without it now.

Enjoying the mod , but im save scumming so much it makes me wanna puke , if i dont i get entire squads wiped out which leads to auto loss in the next few turns as i dont have anything to take on the missions.....also im finding my self avoiding confrontation on the rescue missions as i tend to take them with low infiltration levels , if its just "escort" then i dash for it and if its a prison one i hope it has an outer wall in that case i blow it up on the side of the excursion and dash for it again.
My average team is 5 , is that reasonable ? also what about buildings ? im not sure i want to go about it and expanding as well .... what do you guys go on the tech tree ????? the game is very fun again which i great !

You should always aim for 100% infiltration or more. And probably not for less than 4 soldiers per mission unless you plan to do 2 man stealth missions.

If you cannot accomplish 100% infiltration and you don't want to spend intel to boost it, don't do those missions. Your soldiers are your most important resource and dead or long time injured soldiers are not useful.

If you haven't encountered Sneks or Lancers, you aren't even passed early game. Or you are actually doing so good, their research timers are so far behind you must roll on every mission.

Only two supply drops so far, so yeah it is still very early by Long War standards

Will add that those mods are borderline cheating against aliens rulers from the dlc, but otherwise they are super convenient
Be nice, buy wards and don't feed double buff.

Lost a campaign to a soldier being unable to move and a marker pointing to an extraction point at the edge of the map that I couldn't interact with, resulting in my soldiers not making it to the -actual- extraction point in time. Kinda annoying, but I'm still intrigued by all the changes, so I'll probably fire up another campaign later.

Did a Swarming activity level supply raid last night, intentionally to get more materials. Drop in a full squad with barely any infiltration (didn't have time for it anyway, 1.5d timer). Each pod in the zone was 8 aliens, weee.

It was funny, one of the pods had to normally walk their patrol route as I was spectating it with my shinobi. The whole patrol had to move through a 1 square space between convoy vehicles and that spot was on fire. Result, all biological aliens in that pod got set on fire. I just sat around for 2 rounds and waited for that whole pod to burn to death on their own :D

Then used a technical to blow another pod of 8 to hell with 1 rocket. Wasn't that hard of a mission after that, 44 ayys killed, plenty of corpses to be had. Nobody from my team even took hp dmg, just armor.

Fix for that is on the list of 1.1 changes/fixes.

Save scumming like a maniac , its still early on , what buildings are you going for ? just built the upgrade solider building and a power relay , whats next ? more comm ? also what you guys recommend for tech tree and what armor/weapons should i produce , im extremely poor.

I went GTS -> AWC -> power -> proving ground/psi labs (i like rushing psi)

techwise I skipped lasers this, went straight to the advent tech with tier 1 armors. Plus the psi rush.

I workshop second beacuse It gets my macro running good and I useual fandangle it to be next door to a power coil.

I also AWC first to cut down on the incredible injury times and I can wait in the officers until after the power. late proving grounds can be harsh though.

Also don't sleep on that stun gun early on with your assults. Its VERY good for taking out a sectoid, shieldbarrer or an advanced officer for a turn or two and its got good accuracy at range if you can get a flank but can't get close.

I go GTS first basicly for commanders choice as I play with Not Created Equal active, so I really, really want to pick my roles. A 13 mobility shinobi/techie would be pretty terrible in their role and while some swear the holo targeter sharpshooter is good, I'd still much rather have a regular sniper for the mission types that fit them.

I had this happen to me today:

* A drone stunned one of my soldiers for two turns
* A sectiod in the same pod then mind controls the very same soldier
* I flash bang the sectoid and regain control of the soldier for that turn (and manages to kill the drone)
* The soldier was stunned for two turns after I had regained control of it
