So, I have no idea how they'll get more psi-skills. Maybe I need to do more missions with them, maybe they level slower? I dunno, the archives or any help I've tried to look for doesn't say, so it's different from vanilla, but not documented. Only thing I found from the pavonis forums was a topic asking exactly what I'm asking with no replies.

Again, no idea if its true. Also, LoS issues have been a thing since EU. The Long War guys didn't fix it back then so why should it be fixed now? Maybe its something thats difficult to fix. You just have to learn to deal with it and adapt and it doesn't become much of a problem as it was before. I take the thing about alien running toward you back (well, half of it). After an hour of play or so I remember how to deal with it. Still, after ~4 hours the first mission was the hardest so far I think ![]() I just bought XCOM 2 so no Long War 2 yet. I heard at least some of the LoS issues were solved in Long war 2 (it had something to do with the multithreaded level generation). It's not that I find it hard to adapt. It just looks hilariously bad when my soldier shoot through a stone and then a cliff to damage the aliens. Edit: Like this ![]()

Pretty rough. On the other hand, all those billions of release prisoner/hack an object missions are truly covert ops now, sometimes can be completed with a single rookie, or a shinobi if available. 2 shinobis makes prisoner release runs pretty easy, I'd guess shinobi + specialist the same for any hack missions. Get so little "go in and kill shit" missions though, kinda missing them. Also, without those missions, you're fucked on getting corpses or alien materials/elerium. Like 90% of the missions I get is evacs and you don't get to bring in goods from those.

I mean, its not that im not having fun, but to me the average length of missions is longer, that coupled with more people to order around, more aliens taking time to make moves and everyone missing all their shots, makes for like hour long missions all the time. Im going to keep with the LW2 default settings and suck it up for now, its definitely a problem with me and not the game, i think they did an amazing job with this mod i really want to give it its dues.

Now im trying LW2 on rookie as well, and it's so hard, i think the mod might not be for me, the super low% hit chances in the 1st couple of hours are really frustrating to me, each mission is taking so long because everyone just misses all the time. I like the changes to the geoscape a lot, infiltration mechanic is totally awesome, more classes and abilities is great too. So yeah, im conflicted, as a scrub the mod is maybe a little too much, i just feel guilty going back to vanilla xcom2 though, since there's so much more depth in the mod, im just not sure if i can handle all these longer missions, the wait times for "Alien Activity" really start to hurt when there's like 10 aliens taking their sweet time making their move, i just tab out and wait for it to be done. Ahh ill keep going with it and hope it "clicks" for me at some point. We did it because we learned how to play the game well. What you did is like playing Starcraft but never learning to have enough workers mining and never making more than one production building for each type of unit. Yea, you can play SC like that but it is noob/rookie level. Xcom 1 and Xcom 2 have a learning curve that the player must choose to go through.

Easiest way to learn is to start a new game and play Ironman. Not being able to reload forces your brain to learn quickly ![]() Other than that I'd try and identify how and why you lose soldiers. The most dangerous moment is usually when you spot new aliens, therefore (when I can) I pull the aliens toward me a bit can so I can flank them without getting flanked by newly spotted aliens. If XCOM 2 is like XCOM in the campaign it's usually the first few missions that are the hardest. When your soldiers get a couple of skills you can hopefully make up for a turn of bad luck. Also. Holy shit are the faceless brutal the first time you meet them or what ;D

The real answer is that I should not play ironman until I understand the infiltration mechanics, but mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Also, if you get any missions that expire in 2-5 days, I'd just say skip them because it wouldnt be worth. Setting majority of your people in your Havens increases the chance of them finding missions faster and with that means you have more days before said missions expire. You can also read the LW2 mechanics in the archives. You can also completely stealth a mission like Jailbreak. I've done a couple of those already and its pretty fun and tense.

I'm looking forward to pretty much doubling my playing speed ![]() Ive had this mod on since i started playing a week or two ago, and frankly, it's not that amazing. Don't get me wrong, it does work to an extant, but your still going to have long ass wait times when aliens start making their moves, and the "Alien Activity" cutscene thing still plays everytime you find a pod, which is annoying as hell IMO. Is there a mod that disables that specific cutscene anywhere? Cause that would be great. I would also recommend the Instant Avenger Menu's mod, very small benefit but it makes using the geoscape and stuff much snappier. On January 24 2017 11:40 Fleetfeet wrote: I've tried to start a couple campaigns now, but I don't find myself having the patience to slow-march through missions with 30+ opponents. Which seems to be the first couple missions, honestly. I dunno, it's interesting, but being able to go make myself tea while waiting for the 12-odd visible enemies to act seems a bit tedious, to me. The real answer is that I should not play ironman until I understand the infiltration mechanics, but mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Im having the same issue in terms of waiting around, its a bit ridiculous tbh, everytime i find an enemy pod, the cutscene plays, then im stuck watching them run around for 10 seconds. Maybe its petty to be complaining about 10 second cutscenes, but when they happen several times a mission, it adds up, not to mention that even after that cutscene thing plays, it still takes forever for aliens to actually make their moves.

![]() Same problem with moving, more than 1 guy cannot move at same time. You can give them orders but again they will get into animation queue and wait for each other... it is hilarious that their own previous game using probably a lot of same code could do this while this one cannot.

The Instant avenger menu mods seems promising too. I don't like animations that much - especially after the 100th time.
