Long War 2 (Like Long War 1) can be very challenging even with save-scumming

I am pretty sure LW2 is far superior to vanilla Xcom2 (based on playing vanilla and then playing it with previous LW2 seperate mods) so I would suggest to just go with a superior version. And it should not be harder than vanilla if you start on Veteran or lower difficulty (go lower than Veteran if you played previous Xcom games on not hardest difficulty). Unlike Long War 1 this time they said they made the game more accessible to all ranges of players (probably a requirement made by Firaxis who paid for LW2 to be made).

I would recommand enjoying normal before diving into mods.

http://www.pavonisinteractive.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=15&p=24871#p24871 And now for some short videos i found pretty informative (more the xwynns ones): http://www.pavonisinteractive.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=23387 In strategic layer you actively have to use your rebels to gather intel to unlock missions in time to attempt. Squad size and their loadout affects the infiltration length and the amount of enemies. And it seems pretty plausible to do missions with even just 1-3 guys by sneaking around and creating distractions. Ultimately not every mission should be attempted. Enemy numbers (according to xwynns): 6-9 - Extremely Light 10-12 - Very Light 13-15 - Light 16-18 - Light-Moderate 19-21 - Moderate 22-24 - Moderate-Heavy 25-27 - Heavy 28-30 - Very Heavy 30-32 - Extremely Heavy 33+ - Swarming

I have like 50 other mods installed that introduce new weapons or classes or enemies and whatever. Are they compatible with the longwar mod or should I just disable everything and just enjoy longwarr?

I wonder how many of those are because they are using different mods that break it.

There are some bugs but i don't think I'll be getting too far in until some fixes are out. In start it seems you want to focus on 'intel' with your haven guys (accessed from the black radio tower in strategic layer, which is left of your normal 'pass time') to get missions sooner and thus more time to infiltrate.

But because they increase everything basically the performance issues from the engine are amplyfied as well. So if xcom2 gave your system troubles, lw will give you even more. Tryed to see if I can farm an early mission where i get detected early, so i get lots of enemies. Its not the best idea unless you want a real challenge afterwards lol. I then gradiently included more mods that don't change gameplay (like more aliens, different weapons or classes) and still got no bugs after 12h in now. Basically convinience/graphical mods are fine (like displaying hit chance, more map tiles, showing squad icons, evac all soldiers at once etc).
