Oooooh that shit sounds amazing.

The more news that comes out the more and more I can't wait.

Also, Long War 2 is going to be free. They've already said this which is why its being advertised as "Long War 2 mod"

Has there been a rough estimate for when the mod will be released? I just finished my playthrough want to play more, but i would rather put my time into Long War 2 instead.

If I were to guess, I would say February 5th because that'll be the 1-year anniversary of the release of Xcom 2

Well, shit. lol. Darkest Dungeon just said they are releasing a big patch in early February, so between that and Long War 2 my time will be strained to the max!

yea lw2 sounds very exciting. When last LW mods for Xcom2 were released I spent a lot of time playing Xcom 2 again.
Seems I will be a Xcom 2 fanatic once again :D

I am by no means certain about the exact date, but since the Pavios devs have hinted that it is not that far off and Firaxis will stream LW2 later today (at 21:00 CET), I would assume that the 1-year anniversary of the release of XCOM 2 is a good date to release LW2

I dont mind paying a little , this mod makes the game completely new to me and it might incentive other mod creators to really come up with quality mods which take time and resources , paying isn't always bad if you get your money worth and i know i will get it with Long War 2!

Enemy Within was a bit more of Enemy Unknown but not much better. None of the crappy gameplay decisions of EU were fixed in EW and they even broke late game balance even more with MECs and gene mods.

I loved the shit out of enemy within. It admittedly didn't look like it was designed and included in the balance of the greater game but between exalt mecs and the gene mods I really liked the additions to the game.

there really isn't a way to easily balance end game with a game like xcom. Theres only so far you can do to try and balance the rate at which the player powers up and the way the aliens power up, Especially once you get to the end of that curve.

there were really a lot of flaws with EU but the fact that there was nothing like it (and still not much coming close to it) is what makes it such a good game.

Looking at the XCOM subreddit there's gonna be a livestream of LW2 by Firaxis in 4 hours. Really hope to see a bunch of the strategic layer rework.

Keep in mind they are most likely getting paid by 2k/Firaxis for LW2. LW2 wouldn't exist otherwise because they wanted to work on their own game.

Now, I'm more then happy to pay money if they made it a paid thing but I'm also happy that its free. Its basically a win-win either way.

Just watched the LW2 stream and it all look soooo gooood but I'm not sure I'm a fan of the wide range of rng damage.

Not really the most effective way to make your point. Come up with an actual argument/idea.

I theorized a change that would just have alien power ramp up significantly after player power caps out... so eventually you're kinda on a clock.

On their website, it says that they will do a Kickstarter for their game. I am going to back it, as I love Long War and if this is what they can do with modding existing games, I will be very interesting to see what they can do with a proper game

And I wouldn't be surprised if they have already tried to pitch it to publishers. And just because they may have rejected it for the time being doesn't mean that they cannot try again later. If I remember correctly, it took a couple of attempts before Paradox decided to publish Cities Skylines

MECs weren't even broken in that game compared to Genes. Gene snipers were what really ruined that game and made it easy mode, rofl.

I agree gene mods were more broken but MECs were much stronger than added enemies in late game.

Exalt missions were just irritating and the rest of the game stayed the same stupidity (except they slowed down research a bit which was needed).
