It's funny because i literally just installed Xcom 2 a few minutes ago. Going to play on easy and save scum until im used to it, then up the difficulty and maybe check out this Long War mod since it seems less savage than the last version.

And make no mistake, the higher difficulties are still things even experienced players should very much lose.!" * Testers finished LW2 campaigns in around 100-120 missions https://xcom.com/news/xcom-2-long-war-2-pc-mod-new-weapon-coilgun* Coilguns is a new tier of weapons, and it is now the second-best tier of weapons http://www.pavonisinteractive.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=23350
Even more details * The laser tier moves to between conventional and magnetic. Coil will go between magnetic and beam/plasma. * Lasers will get an aim bonus. Coil gets an armor piercing bonus. Plasma gets unique bonuses tied to the weapon. * Each weapon is built individually and not a squad-wide upgrade like in the base game
I am really liking the sound of these changes

Rip, I loved that change in the base game.

As someone who just started playing this game (about 8hrs in now), this makes me sad, im terrible at the game as it is, so small things like this are going to ruin me! Hopefully ill be a better player by the time i get into the mod, and hopefully the mod is balanced in such a way that this change isn't as painful as it sounds.

In fact, it's likely that all active modders doing gameplay mods will push out modified versions for LW as the playerbase will almost entirely switch to LW.

II don't know if I prefer weapon upgrades to be individual or squad-wide. It all depends on how the economy in LW2 is designed.

Rip, I loved that change in the base game. Hopefully with introduction of picking up bodies of fallen allies in base Xcom2, LW mod introduces ability to just pick up their weapon instead

But are the weapons damaged when the unit dies? You could loot guns in Xcom, but you had to use the taser to disable them instead of kill them. Xcom2 could probably do something similar with the skull jack I guess, but that doesn't work for all the enemies.

Just wanted to give y'all a heads up as x-com 2 is the current "pay early" game for humble monthly, as in 12 dollars to get it immediately with some other games at the start of february.

Any of the DLC required or good?

My personal thoughts on the DLCs:
* Anarchy's Children and Resistance Warrior is cosmetic packs * Alien Hunters adds though Ruler Aliens that you fight across multiple missions. To compensate you get some strong early-game weapons as well. This DLC might not be for everyone * Shen's Last Gift. Gives you an awesome story mission and playable robots.

The DLC is better than what we had in Enemy Unknown. Personally i like Alien Hunters the most as it has a bigger impact on the gameplay than Shen´s Last gift. The robot sucks and you are better off bringing a rookie imo but I do like the story and the mission itself.

When I played I somehow ended up one shotting the rulers before they came out of stunlock by accident most of the time. Luckily they removed most one hits against them if not all. Poor second Ruler I have never seen him do anything so far lol.

1 shotting alien rulers got patched out?

For me the term mod is free, or at worst pay if you want some kind of donation, if it is paying then it's a dlc, it loses notion of "mod", in any case of the community idea of modding

Seem to be pretty nice changes. Hope i'll be able to better run the game by that point as well.
You talking about the LW2 or the DLC-s that were talked about earlier jandar?
