Basically stood around watching eachother jack threes and alley-oops for 40 minutes.
It wasn't a contest--just a bunch of dudes goofing around.
Not that I really expected any different, but I find games like that pretty dull.

This game was alright, except Derrick Williams taking a 15 footer, and DeMarcus Cousins jacking a three, I was satisfied. A bit to many guards got the ball and jacked a ball up on the wing, it was kind of sad. Kyrie fucking Irving though, holy shit. 8-8 from 3 in a game with such sporadic minutes, albeit no defense, it didn't look like he was controlling the ball and taking three's, they just developed and he stuck em. Greg Monroe too. lol. ![]()

Can't blame them, defense takes effort and isn't that flashy, lol.

Here in Aus, All-Star game equivalents--in different sports to bball however--are generally take very seriously and the competition is of the highest standard in terms of how the game is played. Over in the US it seems to be more about flashy entertainment and guys having fun.

Guys don't want to play so hard they have a risk of injuring themselves in a game that really doesn't matter as far as championships go. That being said, the actual All-Star game in the past few years has been taken much more seriously than it has in the past fueled primarily I think by the rivalry of guys in the east like Lebron and DWade and guys in the west like CP3 and Kobe. I think we're in for a pretty decent All-Star game, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was like it was today simply because of how difficult the condensed season has already been on the players.

Do those all star games have ramifications on the season in anyway? Or is it like the NBA here, where it's just an exhibition and semi-validation.

Three games a year where the best players from the two main states it's played in go head-to-head. Games have big ramifications in terms of injuries and player availability. But they're the greatest games of the sporting calendar bar the Grand Final.

When I was in Ireland, I watched a rugby game between a team in Munster and Ulster. The rivalry was intense. In America, people feel strongly about their states, they have pride in them. However, that provincial level of rivalry does not extend well in professional sports. New York and Boston, probably has that, but I've never lived in the East Coast. Besides, labor in professional sports might feel strongly about the city they live in but they usually come from different places.
