Heat's game pretty clear from the beginning - shut down Lin completely. With Charmers sticking close by, Lebron/Bosh coming in for the occasional double team there's no way you can get a decent looks. Pick and roll with Chandler was non-existent, and Lin's shooting has been the worst since he began as a start. This is how things are suppose to be. You can't expect a fresh guard to have too much presence against the likes of Lebron/Wade. JLin is a new pg, learning the ropes, Heat has the talents and the experience to win a championship, much less dominate a recently put-together offense from Knicks. And Lin is allowed to make mistakes at this point, it's his first game against a team of this caliber.

He's an all-star type guy, but he's one of those players who was made to look a lot better than he was by playing with an all-time-great ball distributor in Nash. Kind of like how Martin Gortat looks a lot better than he is because of Nash, or Pekovic because of Rubio on the T Wolves.

And I'm expecting the Thunder to paste the Lakers. The Thunder have been almost unbeatable at home, and they've been among Heat and the Bulls as elite teams.

Sure it's definitely arguable that there are some other players that play certain areas of the game better, but no one dominates all ends of the game as well as him. too fast, strong, court vision is phenomenal, passes are amazing, and his shooting and post techniques seem to get better every season

Sadly the NBA robbed him of the first one. I can't remember exactly, but I think but they incorrectly credited him with 9 assists and some stupid rule wouldn't let them correct it. It took him less than a month to get another one, which is scary. edit: Even scarier: this might be a better game than either of those quadruple doubles!

The Spurs were at one point a championship contender, seeing as how they won the 2007 title. But at some point, probably the 2009 playoffs, they seem to have lost it. My immediate tendency is to seek out the obvious qualitative answers, a narrative why they lost and why it's impossible for them to win again, at least in the same era. That's an easy one to explain. Tim Duncan, their superstar player, aged past his superstar years. Manu too is only getting worse with age. But the Spurs kept winning, at least in the regular season. So wait, they're playing better even as they're becoming worse? The playoffs seem to prove that their success is an aberration. But first of all, I'd like to ask how is it even possible? The only thing countering the aging trend is Tony Parker peaking, and a lot of role players developing and becoming more effective. This slams against the reasoning of the superstar theory. Sure your role players and even your All-Star Tony Parker can get better, but they have a ceiling, especially with Tiago not busting into the NBA with an all star level performance. The addition of a lot of small numbers will match the subtraction of a big number (Duncan). Or can it (Detroit 04)? Championship teams all have stories about role players, from the Brian Cardinal/Kidd/Marion to the PJ Browns stepping up, which is why sports writers spout some stuff about needing a deep bench regardless of how the salary cap changes. Can a really good but not elite player and a bunch of good role players win it all? How can the Spurs keep winning but not have a chance? Does that even make sense? Weren't the Mavericks fundamentally flawed as well?
