And Orlando not looking elite this year. Its reputation is scarier than the team, despite it being super deep. It's like the opposite of the Spurs.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=5902468 http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=5907066 Ron-Ron has planned three post-basketball careers: 1. Record producer. 2. Boxer 3. NFL tight end. "How's he going to do that?" says Ron's coach with the Lakers, Phil Jackson. "He's got a contract with us through 2014!" Ron-Ron is undeterred. "I always follow my plan 100 percent, even if I know I'm going to fail." The day before, Ron-Ron went on a Houston radio station and the host inexplicably thought he was interviewing Houston Rockets forward Luis Scola. So Ron-Ron did the whole interview as Scola, proclaiming himself "the greatest player in the world" in a Spanish accent that morphed into Jamaican. "I needed a therapist when I was a kid," says Artest, who was suspended every single year of his elementary school career. Jackson says. "There's nothing devious in him. The other night, Ron chased a ball he wasn't supposed to be chasing. He knew he wasn't supposed to be chasing it, but he chased it anyway, as hard as he could. And he chased it and chased it and eventually the guy got panicky and threw it away" reporters want to know if Ron-Ron will reject the shots of President Barack Obama when the Lakers visit the White House on Dec. 13. "Oh, absolutely!" he says. "I will lock down anybody anytime, even the president of the United States." More stitches for Mr. Obama is not the most worrisome part of that trip. The most worrisome part is that Artest will also address Congress on mental health "I overtrained swimming this week," he said on the way to the game. "So I'm going to be really tired tonight. Which is kinda how I like it." Sorry? "I can be too strong for some small forwards, so they don't want to go at me, so I get bored. Tonight, the coaches have told him to force Evans to his left, but the first four times Evans touches the ball, Artest forces him right. Explain, Ron-Ron? "Just to see if I can stop them," he says. "I like looking at a guy's face when he realizes that even his best moves aren't going to work on me all night. They look depressed."

I am so looking forward to Wednesday NY/Boston and Friday NY/Miami. Amar'e is definitely the MVP to me. He's killing people when their entire team does not collapse on him, and when they do the Knicks have good enough talent to make them pay. You can also look at Amar'e as the MVP by looking at what his absence did to the Suns instead of only his addition to the Knicks. Boston is going to be a really tough game especially if Shaq is in. But the last time they played it was pretty close, so it is completely winnable. NY had no chemistry then and Boston was healthier. Predicting close games in the next 2 and wins. :o

Aside from Nash/Dirk who won theirs in weak years, I can't think of any league MVPs who weren't all-NBA defenders.

Amare is getting a lot of blocks! Dude is definitely having an insane year but I'd be shocked if him or Derrick Rose got it. Dirk and Deron Williams seem like the clear front runners at this point to me.

Amare has been really great this year, but it's hard to overlook the 30/30 game and getting hit for 41 by Bargnani last week.

And I am not sure how the argument is being made for Dirk being an MVP while simultaneously saying Amar'e does not have good enough D for the award. Surely no one thinks Amar'e is worse on D than Dirk? I would say Amar'e is noticeably better.

Amare is the only big on a D'Antoni team, and he still only gets 9 boards per game. Defensive rebounding is very important and he's just awful at it. You totally ignored the Love game, which is something because Love had more offensive rebs than Amare had total rebs. Also, if he wasn't guarding Bargnani, who was? Wilson Chandler? And if he truly wasn't guarding Bargnani, that means D'Antoni doesn't trust him to D up the only decent non-guard on Toronto. What does that say about how much faith the coaches have in his D? Oh, and Dirk pretty middle-of-the-road defensively and is certainly better than Amare.

In fact the Knicks are much better defensively than I thought they would be. Thing is Dirk is leading his team to a better record over harder competition. His efficiency is downright amazing and after being in the running for so many years I think this year he has a good shot at getting it since Wade nor Lebron are going to be in the running. Speaking of which Wade should have got the MVP in 08-09, but of course the NBA wasn't having that.

If they can makes some solid trades after Chrissy then maybe I'll change my mind, but I still don't rate them that highly. They'll probably make the Playoffs, but that's more a reflection of the poor quality in the East (below the top 4 that is) than anything else.
