Should have just announced it on the side at not-Blizzcon and not made it as if we are getting D4 or another expansion or something like that.
Its quite possible that D3 Mobile will be quite succesful (although it wil be hard, the mobile gaming category is very competive and I am not sure how well its monotization & hook/addiction model works). Its them expanding to a new market (with extreme high potential), I don't think its a bad business decision. IIRC the top 20 playstation games put together don''t make as much revenue as Clash of Clans/Royale (whatever it is) for Supercell. Obviously that is the 1% but its not a terrible idea.
But don''t fucking announce it at blizzcon, you know hardcore gamers hate that shit and thats all you have at blizzcon. It is a bit weird though when your own stance on a mobile Diablo is considering such a thing a joke just 4 years prior. For people who don't know, this is what red shirt guy at Blizzcon was referring to: us.diablo3.com Err, not all mobile games are the same, and this was obviously a joke about a diablo themed flappy bird. It was a joke about simplified game play which any mobile version of a Diablo game would be.

You are right. Diablo Immortal will be designed to be played by all ages. Nobody knows about the maturity rating of the next PC based Diablo game, but I fear that they will follow the Immortal artstyle rather then returning to Diablo 2 aesthetics.

The chance of them taking the criticism about D3's aesthetics to heart and return to D2's seems even smaller now.

And yes he also mentions there are other PC projects in the line, but still, it's a big deviation from what they used to be.
Family friendly Diablo without a mature rating also seems just silly. Another proof that this game has nothing to do with 'love for the diablo franchise' but with money.

What Morhaime is responsible for:
General: Pushing real game developer out of real blizzard
Blizzard North: Killing the Studio, killing the true vision of Diablo, stopping diablo 2 development, letting Diablo 3 happen
Activision: He sold the studio
Warcraft: General downfall of WoW, picking wrong bad developer, no Warcraft 4, killing Warcraft Adventures, Hearthstone
Starcraft: Killing Ghost, picking C&C Browder, casualized, not pleasing the Koreans, Esports, 2 expansion milking, SC2 Battle.net, Starcraft Remastered(Unplayable on release, made Jaedong cry), killing brood war esports in general, horoundes fees for remastered tournaments
Diablo: Letting Diablo 3 happen, picking bad developer, auction house(Pay2win), most likely responsible for immortal
What the fuck was Morhaime doing in the past 15 years? Was he just sitting on a big desk being outvoted by fat analysts and activision-bosses? Was he comfi being on the payroll as the "boss"? Shouldnt he have quitted Activision a long time ago, joining his brothers and develop real games?

What? Vinvedi shut down Blizzard North.
He didn't sell to Activision, he sold to Davidson & Associates in 1994, 15 years before Activison
Picking wrong bad developer? DId you think he was going to let SOE develop WoW? Wasn't killing Ghost a good thing if it was a bad game? If they released Ghost you'd just say "released Ghost' as a bad thing regardless.
2 expansions isnt milking it. I'd kill for a 2nd expansion to War3. And how are you going to list all those things without mentioning he was one of the core programmers for Starcraft. Its basically his baby.

That was every opinion on this topic: "OH MY GOD THE MILKING!!" Ghost was a bad game? Are you talking about that unreleased game? People hate blizzard for canceling it. It doesnt matter how good are bad the game could have been. It matters how people feel
And yet again: Mohaime was cool with the Activision deal. Activision owns Blizzard now. They make the decisions. According to those insider here

the founding fathers of Blizzard were great... including Morhaime. so many amazing childhood memories... the only non-Blizz game that came close was EA NHL '94.
Got an email update on Blizzcon. Blizzard buried Diablo:Immortal in the middle of 10 other announcements. Considering I'm only a customer of their PC games + Destiny... this was a smart move by Blizzard.

i fondly remember the days when people said "Blizzard" with a mixture of reverence and awe in their voices. Its been gradual... and ATVI has been very slowly chipping away at the empire Morhaime built... its been 1 small step at a time but now i can say....
alas, those days are over.

Right. But i'm saying it's a double edged sword. "Wow, Blizzard is bad because they cancelled a bad game". vs "Wow Blizzard is bad because they released a bad game." You would use it as a bad no matter what.
???? It doesn't matter if Morhaime was cool with the deal because he didnt own the company. Vinvedi did. They make the decisions, not him.

Or Morhaime could have said: Well looks like you guys are having problems...How about we change something. It does matter if Morhaime is cool with it or not. ATVI Investor call : "fan response to Diablo Immortal was muted" .. "we believe when fans get their hands on the game we think it will be very well received"

The team is only going to release when Diablo Immortal meets the community's high standards.
It's important that Diablo Immortal is an excellent experience when released.
I'm surprised they went that far. That seems like a very bold promise for something I can't help but be skeptical/dismissive of.

Right, Alan Adham says he wants this to succeed worldwide. Idk, I'm down for a supplemental Diablo if the business model isn't scummy as fuck. Which is probable.
Some of the spells and how they interact with eachother they have on the mobile version actually look very fun and I wish Diablo on PC had them.

Yes, very shocking. Blizzard person meets team developing game on their behalf. Utterly unheard of.
