You are right. Diablo Immortal will be designed to be played by all ages. Nobody knows about the maturity rating of the next PC based Diablo game, but I fear that they will follow the Immortal artstyle rather then returning to Diablo 2 aesthetics.

Agree. The chance of them taking the criticism about D3's aesthetics to heart and return to D2's seems even smaller now.

Pretty important interview. Really feels like they are going all-in with mobile. Multiple titles, multiple IPs, some of the best developers shifted to it.

And yes he also mentions there are other PC projects in the line, but still, it's a big deviation from what they used to be.

Family friendly Diablo without a mature rating also seems just silly. Another proof that this game has nothing to do with 'love for the diablo franchise' but with money.

General: Pushing real game developer out of real blizzard

Blizzard North: Killing the Studio, killing the true vision of Diablo, stopping diablo 2 development, letting Diablo 3 happen

Activision: He sold the studio

Warcraft: General downfall of WoW, picking wrong bad developer, no Warcraft 4, killing Warcraft Adventures, Hearthstone

Starcraft: Killing Ghost, picking C&C Browder, casualized, not pleasing the Koreans, Esports, 2 expansion milking, SC2 Battle.net, Starcraft Remastered(Unplayable on release, made Jaedong cry), killing brood war esports in general, horoundes fees for remastered tournaments

Diablo: Letting Diablo 3 happen, picking bad developer, auction house(Pay2win), most likely responsible for immortal

What the fuck was Morhaime doing in the past 15 years? Was he just sitting on a big desk being outvoted by fat analysts and activision-bosses? Was he comfi being on the payroll as the "boss"? Shouldnt he have quitted Activision a long time ago, joining his brothers and develop real games?

What? Vinvedi shut down Blizzard North.

He didn't sell to Activision, he sold to Davidson & Associates in 1994, 15 years before Activison

Picking wrong bad developer? DId you think he was going to let SOE develop WoW? Wasn't killing Ghost a good thing if it was a bad game? If they released Ghost you'd just say "released Ghost' as a bad thing regardless.

2 expansions isnt milking it. I'd kill for a 2nd expansion to War3. And how are you going to list all those things without mentioning he was one of the core programmers for Starcraft. Its basically his baby.

the founding fathers of Blizzard were great... including Morhaime. so many amazing childhood memories... the only non-Blizz game that came close was EA NHL '94.

Got an email update on Blizzcon. Blizzard buried Diablo:Immortal in the middle of 10 other announcements. Considering I'm only a customer of their PC games + Destiny... this was a smart move by Blizzard.

i fondly remember the days when people said "Blizzard" with a mixture of reverence and awe in their voices. Its been gradual... and ATVI has been very slowly chipping away at the empire Morhaime built... its been 1 small step at a time but now i can say....

alas, those days are over.

i just go where ever the games are great. R'n'R Racing, SC1, Super Tecmo Bowl and EA NHL '94 grabbed me in the 90s. Who knows whats next. I don't take games a seriously as I did when i was a teenager so I might support no one.

My logic? Hands up if you remember that PEOPLE hated Blizzard for releasing two expansion. There was a shitton of negativity surrounding it.
Morhaime also failed transfer them to Main-Blizzard. Or Morhaime could have said: Well looks like you guys are having problems...How about we change something. It does matter if Morhaime is cool with it or not. If Morhaime is cool with it, he is basically Activision. Which makes him Greedy as shit. He could have left the company. Its not longer Blizzard anyway

It's important that Diablo Immortal is an excellent experience when released.


I'm surprised they went that far. That seems like a very bold promise for something I can't help but be skeptical/dismissive of.

Right, Alan Adham says he wants this to succeed worldwide. Idk, I'm down for a supplemental Diablo if the business model isn't scummy as fuck. Which is probable.

Some of the spells and how they interact with eachother they have on the mobile version actually look very fun and I wish Diablo on PC had them.
