But what if he doesn't? He doesn't seem like the guy who'd join a foreign team.
It's really hard to say. His success in sc2 was greater than his success in BW, but i think he could make as much money streaming bw as he would in sc2 most likely. Depending on what happens to bw in general i feel he will rather start playing that again tbh
For TY I think it'll depend on how the SC2 scene looks like next year, what options he has. If there's enough money to be made in SC2 for him he'd be silly not to stick around. If the Korean scene faces a big exodus following the death of Proleague, TY is essentially a shoe-in for high finishes in every tournament.
Let's see how the next few months go.
I guess, but he also was quite popular in BW afaik. He seems to have more options than most players atm though, so that's good.

Popular yeah, but not Flash or Bisu. And if he switched immediately he'd be nowhere good enough to do well in BW tournaments.
Actually if he wants to stay around, TY should consider streaming SC2 on Twitch. At his skill level and given how popular he is he could probably get really good viewership for an SC2 stream. Similar to ByuN's.

Not necessarily Flash/Bisu lvl. But that isn't really required to make good money. 600 viewers on afreeca would probably already be enough. Not sure how long it would take him to do well in bw tournaments, i would guess not too long tbh. The lvl of play isn't as high as in kespa days and terran seems to be the most stable race in genral as well. Little bit help from Flash and he should be good to go rather fast i would think.
I actually have no idea how many viewers Byun has on twitch. I doubt it would be stable though, in the long run people don't wanna see a guy who doesn't speak english.

ByuN gets over 2k viewers when he streams, which for non-tournament SC2 streams is amazing these days. Then again he also streams with reckless abandon for 10+ hours at a time (because why not?).
I'm just thinking it would take him time to get to a high level in BW (and keep in mind he wasn't ever really a Starleague title contender in BW) because he invested so many years into SC2 already. So much time spent on refining mechanics that don't exist in BW. Even Flash needed a few months to get back into tournament shape, and he was the best of all time in BW, unlike BaBy, and that was with a year less in SC2.
I mean sure 2k viewers are awesome IF that is on a regular basis and if he also gets money that way. I simply don't see it being stable for a korean with poor/no english skills to stream on twitch in the long run.
Yeah he never was a title contender in reality, but he always had high potential and you could see it in his games. It's no coincidence that TY got a final edit: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/final-edits/132831-lamb-to-lion-bybaby I can see where you are coming from but i honestly believe that TY could be a top 3 terran in the current BW scene even if it takes a few months.
It really depends on how the sc2 scene will look like next year, i guess the players already know most details?!

I'm sure they know more than we do, but soO saying he wants to see the WCS system for next year before he decides probably means they are far from knowing everything.

I actually agree with Elentos on this one here. I don't see how 600+ viewers on Afreeca is better than 2k+ on Twitch. Also I don't think "potential" would actually translate to skill in reality. We have seen many players with "potential", but a lot of them have never reach it. TY is a player with potential to win a SC2 tournament, but he didn't win one.
Also just 2 BW tournaments a year (I'm not even sure if we're actually to get that much BW tourneys) is really not enough to make money, whereas in SC2 I would think that there's a bit more money being given out next year.
600 concurrent viewers which will watch you every single day and donate to you against 2k viewers whenever you stream which only really watch you because of novelty factor, you being the current gsl champion, etc Let's be real, a korean who doesn't speak english won't have long lasting success streaming on twitch.
If these low number viewer numbers (compared to twitch) wouldn't be enough for the korean bw streamers i doubt that they would stream every day then. You cannot compare it 1:1 to twitch tbh, in general afreeca viewers seem to donate a lot more as far as i can tell.
No idea what the bw scene will be like, hard to make a reasonable comment right now. Fact is that koreans seem to be way more interested in bw than in sc2.
About TY only having potential and not winning: Yeah sure i agree, i would argue that his experience in sc2 as a main player on a team helped him a lot though. Something which would help him in any game i feel like.
I agree with Viper on the streaming thing. SC2 on Twitch has no future, even if you get viewers they don't donate, but the Afreeca viewers do donate (prolly because they're old folks who can afford it?)
Hard fought, entertaining series against Nerchio and moving on to the winners match. Still easy favorite for the entire group tho, especially because it should have been 2-0.
He definitely didn't get out of shape between KeSPA Cup & Blizzcon.
