But I think she is supposed to be likeable, which again would mean that her acting is not that good. On the other hand thats more an issue of the writers.
Although Dexter is mega cool, I would have to say it has to end sometime, within the next few seasons imo, and Im not trolling, i reckon, he's gonna stop needing to kill, so he only does it for lols afterwards

But I find her extremely endearing, so doesn't that mean that her acting is, in fact, good?

It does have to end sometime, its getting pretty tired. Season 1 was simply amazing, but I don't really know what else they can do. Perhaps a season where he realizes he can't keep killing, I can see the early comedy (someone pisses him off and the dexter internal monologue says "well I certainly chose a great time to stop killing people) and then a few episodes in someone that he would have killed normally but didn't goes on to kill someone important, etc etc whatever.
Problem is in the end we are always at the same thing. Dexter back at square one for all practical purposes. And the most recent plotlines were kinda meh, especially season 4 in the later episodes and the entirety of season 5 (the only time I got excited at all was when I watched the commercial preview for the finale and thought deb might actually find out who dexter was). Season 3 was also simply meh.
I wish Lumen did not leave Dexter. She seemed like she was Dexter's only shot at becoming a human as close as possible. And they were a cute couple, they kinda complemented each othe well. Like lock and key. I'm disappointed to see her leave. Other than that, great season. That rape scenes made me nauseaus, such sick bastards.
What makes you think it would end like that? It's already been confirmed for season six, with season seven also strongly hinted at being signed already.

I haven't heard any official announcements yet but according to wikipedia:
"The series was picked up by Showtime for a sixth season, which was billed as not being the final season, leaving possibilities open for a seventh.[2][3]"
Walking Dead will step up hugely. 12 episodes next season: I intro to real Tyresse and the first Hershell story arc. Should be pretty fucking sweet. Oh and the the climax of the current Shane arc ofcourse.
Btw Deb is suppossed to be kinda annoying in your face and love/hate character. She is an amazing actress - Exorcism of Emily Rose was fucking crazy

No it doesn't... Playing someone different from yourself is being an actor, not a GOOD actor. Her character is insanely simplistic and has zero depth. She nearly married a serial killer and her brother's wife was brutally murdered and after a couple episodes she's basically fine. Hell by the end of season 2 she was comforting Laguerda about having a relationship with a serial killer and had no real difficulty with it.
That's the shortcoming of Dexter, lazy, limited writing. One-dimensional characters that don't behave like human beings. Rita plays the doting Stepford Wife for ages and then for absolutely no reason becomes incredibly suspicious and questioning just as long as the story calls for it, then boom back to Stepford Wife mode. How did Dexter go to freaking Paris to finish off Layla with no one batting an eye? How does no one in IT question a CSI computer running all these checks on people no one is investigating? Everything on Dexter happens when it is convenient to advance a little sub-narrative, all other times everything just works perfectly, magically, for no real apparent reason.

I have to disagree with everything you said. I thought Rita was suspicious for pretty good reasons. Dexter was always sneaking off to kill ppl lol wouldn't you wonder what he was doing if you were Rita? Also I'm pretty sure Deb has some "depth" but you're either ignoring it or failing to recognize it.
I've learned that pointing out holes in stories can ruin almost any good show or movie. You just have to let it go and remember that it's fiction. These things didn't actually happen so the holes don't really matter. Just forget about it and enjoy it for what it is - a damn good show.
p.s. I'm not trying to argue. Just sharing the knowledge cause knowledge is power and knowing is half the battle
