Not even exaggerating - before Battle Pass I won 18 games out of 20 - Battle Pass happens and suddenly my offlane mk goes 3-20, my offlane Centaur goes 1-15 etc my mid feeds while the other team's mid snowballs out of controll.

Lost my last 6 games and I can objectively say I played no worse than I usually do.

Anyone else noticed a decrease in quality of games lately?

No surprise there, people play heroes they aren't used to which results in lots of deaths and a lot of snowball.

And yes my matches have all been stomps except for an AM turnaround against a team without catch, which can basically always happen.

If anyone tests this, could you test if treant and ogre get their aghs spells?

In the test-lobby neither Meepo nor Ogre nor Treant get their aghs abilities/additional Meepo.

Np, was like 10 seconds
I don't agree in the case of Ogre and in general don't think that Io farms much faster nowadays than any of them (and staying linked to treant all the time would be really inconvenient for both heroes), so I wouldn't necessarily call it OP. Meepo is also one of the worst Io partners in the game.

But since they can't drop Aghs I don't think the engine is built in a way that manages shuffling spells well.

They probably made some workaround for Rubick that they aren't too happy with.

Slark question - he got a big nerf a while back with the change to hex. What's changed such that he is now being picked in tournaments eg China Supermajor after not being popular for so long.

it's in the patch notes
the regen buff made his laning phase much easier against strong laners that could harass him out before he hit his level 6 for ulti regen. Now it's much harder to force him out pre-6, so the hero just gets a better start.

Thanks Sn0_Man - I did look at the patch notes I didn't realise the significant effect of 1.5 -> 2.75 - > 3.25 has, I appreciate it is more than double over two patches, but I suppose it shows the fine margins of what makes a hero viable in a pro game.

Anyone else struggling to have reasonable games in the calibration matches? I played a bunch on the days before the reset and dota was lots of fun. Today it's stomps one way or another, just felt like every game was won or lost in 10 mins and then an extended dying animation followed.
I play children's card games and watch a lot of dota, CS and HS

Yeah. Same here. Also the group mmr differences are huge. I'm playing with my gf and we used to be ancient 1/legend 1 and now playing with people way below our previous games on both teams (but also ancient ++ there as well). It just ends up with some guys getting completely outclassed and feeding on both teams.
Also from what I have seen the biggest difference between the ranks (aside from skill obviously) is the attitude. Holy fuck it's draining to play with guys like that.

The calibration games have been pure garbage, I have played 5, won my first, lost my last 4, but its with people who mis pick hero's or HAVE NO CLUE what they are doing. I can not stand it.

A few people coming back after a break and the system spreading them up and down from their mmr to check their real skill level. I as a lowly Divine 3 (now a days) player ended up in a game with OG.Topson that was rank 7 on leaderboard at that point.

https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/8p9o7f/new_rankings_to_mmr_thread/

New scale makes it hard to get a rank again. Previous 5k rank on eu was at 5.5k, now to get one you need 6k and it does get much harder as you go up.

I will just do what i did last time...
Wait 2 or 3 weeks before placing. It feels like at the moment every scrub wants mid or safelane, with insanely stupid picks.

Anyone know why pros aren't really buying Mek outside of Wisp games? It looks like basically every game is devolving into mass early teamfights, which is an excellent reason to get it. Is the consensus just that Crimson Guard and Pipe outclass it by way too much, or something?

Utility isn't as good as its competition. Typically you want it on your #3/4 to get it at a relevant timing.

For #3, it doesn't particularly scale well into the midgame/late game and for #4s spirit vessel is incredibly competitive in price and buildup. It's strength is also on being used, but there's little utility to it compared to HoD, Pipe, Spirit Vessel, Crimson which are much better for the team long-term outside of fighting (ie sustain etc.)

Remember team fights in DotA are about objectives more than anything else and meks doesn't do enough beyond team fights to invest a big chunk of gold in the early game.

Also 250 mana is really intense for most heroes.

To add I'd argue that teams are pretty good nowadays at focusing targets down that are out of position, against which Mek does next to nothing. Every time a mekked teammate dies that I could have helped with force or glimmer it feels really bad.

In comparison items like force, glimmer and Euls don't just have the defensive utility, they also enable plays that you couldn't do without them.

Also items like HotD and Pipe add enough regen to usually sustain pushes.

Looking at the current meta of early BKBs and supports with a lot of spells that hurt like a truck or the Chens and the Lycans and all that jazz (basically a lot of magic damage early or a lot of minions / summon early) you get a more targeted counter for the specific game in Pipe / Crimson which pretty much every pos 3 builds. Your pos 4 or 5 gets an Urn for HP sustain.

Getting back into Dota after a 9 month break; what are some good pub supports to play/learn right now? Specifically looking for some 5th position suggestions.

I tried a few Crystal Maiden games but she felt pretty weak. Warlock seems great as per usual (from a pub perspective), what else is a pretty good early pick for 3-4k pubs?
