There are threads like this in all of the strategy forums, and with lots of people new to the game (and possibly genre), there could be lots of confusion. There are some great guides around this forum, make sure you read them before asking questions.
So if you have a simple question about the game that's not worth starting a new thread over, feel free to ask here!
A newbie question you could ask could be something like:
Why was Tiny such a threat earlier in the game, and far less dangerous later?
A question that you shouldn't be asking is:
How much will Dota2 cost? - no-one knows, it'll be big news when it's announced. or What hero is Spectre from HoN? - this question is easily answered in many places, including a Google search for something like "dota hon equivalent heroes".
So if you have any questions that you've searched and been unable to find an answer for, feel free to ask and the community will do what they can to answer!
If you have never played DotA before (HoN/LoL do not count), please read the following before asking gameplay-related questions:
Welcome to DotA: you suck. Total Newbie Guide Introduction to watching competitive Dota2
If you know of any guides you think should be added to the OP, any frequently asked questions you've seen a few times in this thread, or any recommendations for information to be added to the OP, feel free to PM me, as it'll help newbies and veterans alike.

I'm pretty sure there is lan. The only reason the game is lagging is because of the shoutcasters getting unreal amount of viewers.

LAN has been confirmed, it's not that that was causing the lag.

Dota2 has never been officially confirmed to be f2p, it's all speculation.

Just because some companies are too focused on exploiting profits to the last bit while giving nothing to the players in return doesnt mean lan does not works, nor that because there is f2p games of a given genre the p2p game wont be played, its often the contrary.

I honestly hope it wont be free 2 play hehe

Does anyone know if valve is doing a "dota 2 panel" or something at gamescon? You know. Where some of these questions may be answered...

Okay, I've heard multiple mentions of DotaTV. So can you guys explain to me what it is, how can one get it and how can I watch this tournament using it.
If 2.8 million people are watching using DotaTV, why can't I find any info about it from dota2.com

DotaTV is just the normal stream that you see. If you are using it, you just see a generic silver/grey bar. If for some reason you can't access it, they redirect you to their own3d tv stream in which you can see that the bar is own3d tv bar. The own3d tv stream provides you with viewers number. The default one (DotaTV) doesnt.

Is Terrorblade capable of jungling well? Back when I played he had life drain instead of the passive and images instead of reflections

But he was a better jungler before he was remade.

For those who are adept at the game and watched some or all of the matches, what did you think of the strategies that the teams used? What worked and what flopped? Best and worst hero impression?
For me, watching MYM get crushed by m5 when trying to use their push strat (it was that game or the one after) was disheartening haha.
As for heroes, Weaver is crazy good in the right hands.

In League of Legends (my only MOBA knowledge), there is usually 1 top, 1 mid, 2 bot, and 1 jungler. Watching Dota 2 today the lanes (number of people in them) and roamers/junglers(?) seemed to differ quite a lot in every game. How does laning work in Dota?
