For me, watching MYM get crushed by m5 when trying to use their push strat (it was that game or the one after) was disheartening haha.
As for heroes, Weaver is crazy good in the right hands.
As far as I remember, MYM didn't have a pushstrat. Drow is a decent hardcarry overall, but her biggest strength is that she can deal tons of damage with comparatively little farmtime. But the early game went into M5's favour, the 2 MYM support heroes (Vengeful and Shaker) were ridiculously underleveled and Drow couldn't become a factor before Spectre got too fat. I think it was partly just M5 playing better (a lot of MYM players getting caught out of position) and partly outpick (Dark Seer was a good pick, and Drow did not seem to work with these lineups).

What the fuck are sound effects from Q3 and UT2k4 doing in a Valve game? I doubt they licensed them

There are plenty of strategies, with 1-1-3 being one of the more popular ones. 1-1-3 aims at two solo lanes (one of them being carry) in order to give them good farm. The trilane consists of 2 supports and 1 carry (not always!) and is aiming at denying the enemy solo any farm whatsoever, enable your own carry to farm safely, or battle the enemy trilane, depending on the situation at hand.
If you pick good solo heroes that are hard to kill, then having a double lane face against the solo is a bad idea, because the solo hero will farm twice as much exp while being hard to kill for a double lane. Therefore the only choice is to send your own trilane or your own solo against the enemy solo/trilane.
Most of the time the trilane disbands quickly, leaving only the carry in the lane, while the two supporters go and roam the map and gank the shit out of the enemy team, depending on how good the lane fares against the enemy lane.
Thats one of the more common strategies in the current metagame. There is also the 1-1-1 with 2 junglers/roamers, starting from minute 0 (instead of transitioning from 1-1-3 into 1-1-1 with 2 roamers), or the 1-1-2 with 1 jungler/roamer. The 1-2-2 is pretty much dead right now.

Are the stats of the heroes modified or can I simply look up DotA 1 data?

I think the UI will be improved, as we're basically seeing the last alpha build, right?

Is it good/ok to suicide for first blood?

yep, you get 200 more gold than the enemy; especially important if you just killed the carry.

Anybody going to make top 10 plays from the vods you see on dota2?

Wow, LAN, now those 3 people in the developed world who go to LAN without internet can play!

How many heroes are there , and can you choose any hero you want, or are there 2 different pools of heroes for each side?

Right now there are 46 out of 104 total heroes in the game. I also noticed some items missing though. DotA2 is still in its alpha stage, therefore its nowhere near completely finished. Icefrog comfirmed that the game in its current form is identical to DotA 6.72f (everything which is already in the game, is identical to 6.72f). Their goal is to carry over everything from DotA and then work from there regarding new additions (they will go about it like Icefrog has in DotA1 for all those years, additions and changes through small updates).
The main reasons why i will switch over immediately (and i guess the majority of people):
1. Customizable keys and other customizable stuff (you werent even able to use Items per hotkey without having to use third party programs to map the numlock buttons to other keys)
2. Matchmaking (or some sort of ladder)
3. No leavers due to ladder (most pub games end prematurely because someone ragequits)
4. Opponents of your skill level due to ladder
5. Better lobby implementation (finding a game or creating one wont be a hassle, right now you have to have several third party programs to just host/join a game)
6. No fucking built in delay (wc3 battlenet has a built in 250ms delay for online games, thats why you need to use even more third party programs to lower the built in delay to manageable amounts)
7. A proper replay system (the wc3 replay system is a joke)
8. The community will be united on a single platform (right now the community is scattered across a huge amount of different platforms)
9. You will be able to observe ongoing games (currently observing is non existent)
10. Reconnecting to a game will be possible
11. Plenty of other reasons that are going to become obvious once the game hits and which are already partly written down here: http://blog.dota2.com/2010/11/dota-2-qa/
The game is incredible, but some of the reasons i mentioned make this game a pain in the ass to play at all.. Especially reasons 1-6 are a huge deal for most DotA players. Most of us want DotA2 to be an exact copy of DotA1 regarding gameplay, otherwise we wouldnt switch over at all (if this wasnt the case we would all have collectively switched over to HoN logn ago). HoN has removed some of these issues i mentioned and thats why, from an accessability/playability point of view, HoN is a better game, or rather, a better environment to play without having to bare all the tedious shit that comes with the wc3 engine. The gameplay and balance in HoN is shit however, and thats why many of us rather bear the tedious bullshit that comes with the wc3 engine instead of switching.
Carrying over the gameplay from DotA (from an outdated engine) to the new engine is a huge deal and we are all eagerly awaiting it.

How do teams balance their teams composition? Like in LoL where there's usually a tank, 3 DPS(AP & AD) and 1 Support.

2 supports, 1 hard carry + 2 is the norm but there's plenty of variations to go along ( push, gank, turtle heavy strats)
