Every year they've just ahd that one injury in the playoffs that killed their two line attack. For example, in 2006 after Torres head hunted Michalek, the Oilers just put Pronger on Thornton/Marleau/Cheechoo and the sharks couldn't score. but they are one of the deepest teams on offense this year. Especially at the center position.
They have been a "deep" team for a long time. Playoffs come, and only Thronton/Marleau ever stir the drink. Then they get labeled as poor playoff hockey players juts like ALexander Ovechkin, despite the fact that Ovechkin has the highest playoff PPG in the history of the League.

I used to take Joe Pavelski for my playoff fantasy leagues because he used to rack a shitton of points and play at least 2 rounds :D
but yeah this team has been a heavyweight for years and they keep choking. Maybe this time around it wil be different since its the last year on the marleau and thornton deals.

They were too slow for the new NHL, once they stripped out the two slowest players on their team they became much more threatening. That plus having 4 centers that could play first line minutes is a huge boon. Plus Hertl and that other kid randomly being good as teenagers always help.

Okay sure, but when have the Sharks ever had a Max Talbot, Fernando Pisani, Pascal Dupuis, Claude Lemiuex, Chris Kelly, Darren Helm etc type player come in and score a big goal from the third or fourth line to make the difference in an important game? Never. Thats why they have not won the cup.

This current Sharks team is the best that they have had. Their first and second lines are both legitimate first lines. Their third line (Pavelski) is far and away the best third third line in the league. They also have rounded out very nicely on D. Vlasic and Braun have stepped up big time. Vlasic, in particular, will be in consideration for the Norris if he keeps up his current play. The best part is that the Sharks are doing all of this without Havlat and Torres. In addition to those two, the Sharks have also been playing without Burns and Boyle for the past few games. The depth is ridiculous.

This is true. The Sharks have gotten minimal contribution from the third and fourth lines (and from the defense for that matter) during the playoffs. However, they've had a lot of really bad breaks, too. Go look up the save percentage of the goalies that they have faced when eliminated in the playoffs.

as the team is now, if the Sharks dont win the cup they will be cemented as chokers. In the previous years they always had a weird dichotomy between their pretty fast, high skilled forwards and the hulking 3rd/4th liners who were too slow to keep up, getting exposed time after time by the faster or tougher 3rd/4th lines of Western finalists. Feels like this year they are able to just be a dynamic team because of emergence of cotour and to lesser extent their rookies. That plus stripping out Clowe makes them a hell of a lot faster.

...Vanek for Moulson? What is going on?

they get a first and a second round and I guess Tavers gets a super star winger. How long till they move Miller.

Yes, Murray, couldnt remember his name but didnt want to type in 'giant swedish pylon'

poor Moulson lol.

he'll be okay, he is a FA too and he definitely wont be re-signing there. I guess the only downside is, he has to play pretty hard for a shit team just so he can get some money next year.
|
very good deal for the isles if they manage to resign him, theyre probably gonna make the playoffs so that 1st rounder is gonna be a midd rounder most likely

Moulson and Taveres had excellent chemistry last season (dunno about now). This trade makes very little sense to me. I'm pretty sure NYI just pissed the franchise player off...

If he signs an extension then ok fine, good trade. I don't see that happening though. Moulson on the other hand would have 100% resigned in NYI

nyi wouldnt have traded moulson and 2 picks if they didnt think they could resign him, theyre far off from being a "win-now" franchise. wouldnt make any sense if they didnt have a plan
and if they dont resign him then theyre just fucking dumb
