Honestly, I dont even think Babe Ruth was all that. He played baseball 80 years ago and I doubt that the average baseball player then was good as the average player now. Oh well, even if he was super legendary, it's not like baseball is a popular sport.

and even if we're talking all time, I'd guess beckham. but pele is also incredibly famous. here in europe we know about people like jordan and we've heard of a couple other basket stars and we know on average perhaps 3-5 american football players/baseball players. but seriously, go to asia, africa or south america and poll people on whom they've heard of and have the options michael jordan, ali, beckham, pele, babe ruth, wayne gretzky and some american football player (I don't even know who's the most famous player through all time and I've paid a lot more attention to american sports than the average norwegian. ) if you think beckham or pele would not win a worldwide poll then yeah, I really gotta wonder what's going on inside your head. and the reason why I think beckham would probably beat pele is that he recently went on a promote-himself tour across asia, and there is now a whole lot more media around the world than it was back when pele was the best. some of the newer football nations might not have heard as much of the old stars as they have of the new stars, and back in 1970, asian countries weren't as into football as they are now. to quote steven patrick morrissey "America is not the world."

how can you call babe ruth a loser. What a fucking douche bag. Who cares if baseball isnt popular, that doesnt make babe ruth a loser. The guy TRANSFORMED the game, made it EXTREMELY popular, and single handedly popularized the homerun Baseball isnt like bw, you can compare people from 80 yrs ago to now. The guy didnt even play witha helmet, had none of these steroids or anything, and still hit that 714 homeruns. YOu seriously have no fucking clue. I really hope you arent from america
