Managed to get all the way to confirming, but then got an error. No email confirmation either. ![]()

In university, I learned that if I missed class frequently, then I would have a much weaker understanding of the material and get lower marks. But if I missed an isolated day, it made no difference. Of course it would take me a little longer to learn the material on my own than if I had attended class, but as long as I put in the extra time to learn it, I was fine. Now, personally I think it's admirable that some of you guys are concerned about missing class. Fuck what Chill, Haji, etc. say: more people should have that attitude. It's good because you don't want to skip class on an impulse (like "OMG MUST GO TO BLIZZCON!!1") or due to immature peer pressure (*leers at Chill and Haji*) and then later realize it was a dumb thing to do. That said, once you get over the impulsive, emotional part, you can sit down and think whether it's really worth it to skip class for X, keeping in mind that you can miss one day without affecting your marks. My advice is to buy the ticket. Worst case scenario: you change your mind or you find out you have a big test on that day and the teacher won't let you take it early: you sell the ticket and optionally make a profit from it. Normal case scenario: you finish homework ahead of time so that your weekend is free; you ask your teachers to give you the material for Friday in-advance, if possible (or just catch up after Blizzcon); you go to Blizzcon and have an incredible time. This isn't like skipping school to play WoW or iCCup: this is a once-a-year event, and I guarantee it will be far more fun than spending your weekend playing SCBW at home. The social experience alone will be unprecedented. You'll have to work a little bit harder before/after Blizzcon, but it'll be worth it. Lastly, if you're still not convinced, then talk to one of your teachers about it, one whom you really respect. I can almost guarantee that they skipped their fair share of classes when they were in high school, and probably for much more trivial reasons than this, too. For this same reason, you shouldn't feel embarassed asking them for the day's material ahead of time with the intention to skip class.

No I'm joking, I totally agree with the above post. It's a great life experience, and totally worth it. Great post Bill307.

I don't think selling the ticket will be easy. Tickets will be given out at the event, and you must show the credit card that was used to buy the ticket.

Nice Bill, after giving us shit for two paragraphs you reach the same conclusion.

If he doesn't want to go then that's his choice. If he wants to go after class is done then that's his choice. Stop giving him shit for it. And like Alventenie said, there are better ways to present it.

Update: 9:40 PM PDT - We are continuing our work on bringing the website back up, however, we have decided that we do not want to make everyone wait until the early hours of the morning, hoping at a chance to purchase tickets. Thus, we will not bring up the website until after the beginning of business day tomorrow, Tuesday, August 12. We want to assure everyone that a great majority of tickets are still available for purchase. So... the mania starts again... tomorrow!

You'd think they would have the IT infrastructure for this. I don't remember their servers shitting out last year either. to be fair, this year you have the combined powers of SC2 and D3 teaming together

And to quote blabber, yea you actually need to show the credit card used to purchase and an ID that matches each name on each ticket. Thats why I'm buying a ticket for my gf and she has to come to collect the goodie bag even though she probably doesn't really wanna go.
