There'll be some kind of "Fansite Mixer" event, exact time still to be determined, basically just a casual event for fansites and the blizzard community team, snacks/drinks and so on. If you're interested in attending post / pm me your name and I'll include it on the list to blizzard.
It will just be a drop-in so you are not obligated to go just because you have access, just a casual snacks/drinks/have a chat with other SC players/blizz members.
I've gotta submit the list within the next few days so if you're interested post/PM me your name asap plz
Tickets sold out, wait for the lottery
On August 13 2008 6:66 Mike Morhaime wrote: Blizzard Gamers,
On behalf of everyone at Blizzard, I want to apologize for the challenges and frustrations you experienced while trying to purchase BlizzCon tickets on Monday and Tuesday. BlizzCon is about the positive experiences you all have had with Blizzard games. As a result of this week's events, the excitement that many of you felt about the show has turned into dissatisfaction and disappointment.
Due to these circumstances, we've reevaluated our convention hall space and come up with some solutions that will allow us to offer 3,000 more tickets for sale. We know this will not be enough to satisfy the very high level of demand for tickets this year, but we want to ensure that BlizzCon remains a great experience for those of you who are able to attend. To avoid the issues many of you faced this week, we'll be selling these 3,000 via a lottery. We'll post further details once our plans are finalized. Please note that the lottery will only be open to those with an active Blizzard Account as of 9:00 PM PDT on August 12, the time that the “Sold Out” notice was posted.
I, and everyone else at Blizzard, share the frustration and disappointment that many of you have expressed as a result of this process. We'll do what it takes to avoid this type of situation in the future.
Sincerely,
Mike Morhaime

Blizzard Entertainment® gaming convention returns to Anaheim Convention Center 10-11October
MARLOW, UK – 12th May, 2008 – Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced plans for its third BlizzCon™ gaming convention, to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California on 10 and 11 October. How many people are going to go to blizzcon in Anaheim?
PEOPLE WHO HAVE TICKETS -Chill (haji/neo) -RekcaH -Last Romantic
We'll see, but I'd love to go. I'm in Los Angeles, so it would be close.
It's interesting that they don't name any specific games at this point (perhaps because they don't want to give away what will be released in the near future?)
I'll be in Irvine at the time, so I might want to go. Still debating if I want to spend $100 on it though. The merchandise I get there may be worth it though haha (as in resell value). And of course all the progamer autographs I'm going to get ^^

Same here, but luckily it's Friday -> Saturday so I have a possibility - first depends on whether I can get a ticket before it sells out though. Anaheim is so far though -_- They need to put it in Berkeley or something next time

Its a good convention center close to their offices. makes sense to me. I dont think blizzcon will be the type of thing that moves around the globe all the time, thats a waste of their resources.
I wanna go but if its like last year and tickets sell out in a day or w/e it was i dunno ill just hope i can confirm the date and have money for it in time.
I'll probably end up going, selling the gift bag generally pays for the whole trip and then some. So really no down side other than getting the time off from work and finding a baby sitter.
So nobody around here knows me, however I've been a long time postless lurker of TeamLiquid.net, (Just recently got around to actually making an account) and a longer time fan of Starcraft.
You may recognize me as "Marine from Blizzcon '05" or "Ghost from Blizzcon '07." I will indeed be showing up for the next Blizzon (Most likely costumeless, unfortunately), however I will most definitely be sporting a TeamLiquid.net shirt. Maybe I shall run into some of you in October. =)
And congrats to me for FINALLY popping my TeamLiquid.net forum cherry. =) Maybe now I won't seem so creepy when I troll around reading posts. =P

Affording the tickets isn't a problem because Blizzard always gives away a redeemable key for something in WoW that will eBay for more than the ticket price. One of the murloc suit cards from last year has a $250 bid on it right now, and I know people that got more for theirs. The beta invite for a future game will also cover your expenses assuming you don't need/want it yourself.
Sup guys, get excited and motivated to go to Blizzcon... a potential LAN tournament might be created around the dates of Blizzcon so we can not only attend, but shred each other apart over UDP in the meantime.
In other news, this should seriously own. Sea and Savior better get invited since they are totally gangster w/ the TL crew now. I will not miss it, sucks bad enough that I missed Paris.
I'm about 50/50, as long as I put in maximum effort. Anyone live in or near Anaheim that wants to let me sleep in there house somewhere? I'll give you $10.00 or something, that would make it 65/35.

I'm going to BlizzCon. I'm looking for someone to split hotel costs with, maybe if I can find enough people I can get a suite at the Doubletree or something. FANCY. ("Who is indigophone?")
Ugh... three days to convince my bro to go with me. Why do you sell the tickets so damn early!!! If one of his friend goes (instead of going to WCG USA finals, which I think is much worse than Blizzcon/BWWI) then I'd say the chance goes up a lot though. I'm still in China until the 16th too
Btw, does anyone know how fast the tickets sell out? Don't they sell out in a day or two?

yeah i'll be a first year freshman at monterey when the event happens, I'll talk to my mom about it when the event gets closer. Then the issue with who i'd stay with comes to hand haha.
Seriously i'll see what i can do, i'd only be missing one class on that day anyway. I just really don't know right now.
EDIT: Do you guys know how fast the event usually sells out? i'll probably be able to make a decision in like september >_>
Edit 2: Oh shit, my birthday is in september! LEVERAGE GUYS LEVERAGE
For all you first years, you're going to be lazy and probably not go to your Friday classes anyways, even though it's a 5 minute walk to get there. Trust me. Having school is no excuse.
The event will sellout quickly. I think you're better off buying a ticket and then looking to sell it than waiting and trying to find one later.
As for who to stay with, it's not that hard. There are tons of familiar faces in this thread and IRC who are going. I'm sure PMing a few of them will get the ball rolling.
Also, I'd be willing to split hotel costs with somebody. I would like to stay in the Hilton since it's NEXT DOOR to the convention center. I hate walking around in that town. But if not, then anything reasonably close is fine.

I haven't missed a day of school or been tardy by over 5 minutes since 3rd grade, when I got pneumonia. o.o Why don't they just make Blizzcon Sat/Sun, just for me??? !!!

Seriously kid, shut up, buy your tickets, and be waiting outside your house with your backpack like a good boy. We'll see you there.
Lol how could you kidnap me Chill? You'd have to drive 6 hours north of Anaheim, and I don't know who h is lol. Secondly if I miss a day of school and its unexcused my parents get called and then after that if you don't clear it then my GPA is lowered. Or I could go after school is out, and miss one day of Blizzcon but that would suck wouldn't it -_-
Edit: ninja'd well I'm trying to wait for my bro to just wake up so he can buy tickets... he said he wants to go if one of his friends goes, and I told him he should get the tickets anyways and sell them later if he decides not to go but he's not waking up and he always wakes up at like 12 noon.
wolf h is me. (said righ tafter chill's post but I ugess you missed it)
just be sick for 1 day... i'm sure you're a good student and your parents would be chill with it
Dotn worry about the whole "i live 6 hours north of anaheim". sort out your end of the deal (buy ticket, get parents to chillax it, and get out of school friday), and we'll do the rest.
the tix are linked to your credit card so i dunno if you could e-bay them if you didnt end up going. you should just get tix and then fake your death and go and then you have all weekend to think up an elaborate story as to why you dissapeard. or just tell the truth; you were kidnapped.
im a lurker on TL but im probably going to blizzcon and i think it'd be cool to be able to meet some the TL staff and thank them in person for the legit site. as well get some rounds of SC 2 in. and by some i mean all day everyday minus the invitational SC tourney and other events perhaps.
bottom line: meet-ups should be arranged like a big TL dinner or whatever went down at the WWI.
I think it'd probably just be best if my brother was able to get the tickets that I go after school is out (3:10 PM) and I'd get to Anaheim in 6 hours which would be 9 PM or so, I'd miss a day but I would still get to meet TL.net people? Of course my brother isn't going to be waking up for another 4-5 hours so I can't get him to buy the tickets until he wakes up, but by that time I'll be sleeping since it's already 11 PM here... my parents definitely would not allow me to miss any school, I wouldn't even dare ask them -_-;;

They lower your GPA for 1 unexcused absence? I'm calling shenanigans.
Ya, my brother cut class all the time sophomore - senior year and went to the beach or w/e and my parents had to clear them, otherwise he wouldn't be in berkeley right now -_- and I don't live in San Francisco. I'm 20 minutes from SFO though, oh man I wish I was in the SC scene when WCG was in sFO.

If you serioulsy go through will this plan I will call you very terrible names all weekend.
Lol, Chill, I don't know if I could even go through with that plan, let alone your plan to "kidnap" me, and I don't want to find out the "massive negative ramifications" I would be giving if I gave my address or phone number, although Chill you already have that for the mousepad??? I guess I shouldn't have said that, but I have like 0.5% chance of going and you guys keep forcing me into a deeper hole, I bet if I don't go now you'll ban me for life like Moltke(?) even tho I never said I would go for sure, omg you guys screwed me.

I can't, I don't have a credit card or anything - I was depending on my brother to do it, but they're already on sale and so much massive F5 that the place is crashing and my brother doesn't wake up for 4-5 more hours, plus he would probably forget anyways or not do it cuz hes not sure yet and someone would have to tell him, I have to go to sleep soon

k im going to be banned and thats that too many obstacles someone has to contact my brother to buy the tickets my parents would never let me out of school for even a day even i wouldnt want to skip a day of school if somehow by a miracle my parents were convinced to let me go and somehow by a miracle someone told my brother to get the tickets and he was able to get them even with these mass hoards of wow fans then i'd go but that happening is basically 0%
Tickets probably won't sell out today. Here's what you do.
Go home today. Tell your parents there's a festival in Anaheim that you would like to go to. Tell them four of your friends are driving and will give you a ride. Tell them you realize school is important, but this is important to you too and you will only miss two days of school.
Then pay them cash to use their credit card and buy a ticket tonight.
How is this difficult? Grow a pair and stand up for what you beleive in and what you want to do with your life. If you don't want to come, just say that and don't come, but don't make some roundabout plans where you arrive when the events already half over.
chill, im not even in america right now im back on like, the 17th so i couldnt do that at all i really want to come, but i dont want to come either because i cant -_- i really just shouldnt have responded when you said it was only one day of school
Alright, you know what, I don't give a fuck. I'm just trying to get everyone hyped up for the event. Enjoy your excuses and your two days of learning grade 10 math or whatever the fuck you're doing while we're all partying with each other and progamers.

It didn't sell out in one day last year, but the also didn't pre-announce the date either. Though I also believe that they increased the amount of tickets they would sell from last year's amount.
It makes it so much worse knowing that the reason I can't actually buy my tickets is because 8 bazillion 12 year old WoW fanboys who have 'heard' of Starcraft, and never played Warcraft II/III are clogging the server.

True. But it's Blizzcon not WoWcon. I have been there the past two Blizzcons, and it pains me to see people there who don't even fully know or care about Blizzard as a whole.

Eh, at least you care about the best Blizzard game. Not to mention you're a relatively notable member of the Starcraft community.
I dunno. Maybe I just hate the WoW player mentality. The swarms of WoW players who haven't touched previous Warcraft games or other Blizzard games who attend Blizzcon annoy me greatly. I just don't get along with WoW players in general.
I went to the first Blizzcon as a Terran Marine, and the second as a Terran Ghost. Each time I was asked by SEVERAL people what I was supposed to be. There were more than 10 on each occassion who asked which 'warcraft' character I was.
plz dress up as something else this time, I want to take pictures with you.
SC related of course.
=( Sadly I don't think I'll be going for a third win... Takes too much damn time, and that's something I don't really have time for in the next 3 weeks or so. I dunno if you saw my other two costumes, but they took manymany hours to constuct.
Holy shit, you are THAT guy. You are awesome. Didn't your marine one win a prize?
I won both times.
#1 Alienware computer #2 Dell XPS laptop
Sold them both.
I'm tempted to go again, just because I want to win another computer. But like I said it's a fuckton of work.
My original plan, if I do another costume, was going to stick with Terran. However this doesn't leave me with many options. Reaper is about the only realistic option, and that'd be a harder build than the Marine was.
I've been thinking, if I do decide to go costumed again, I may do a Zergling. It'd not look right standing up, but it'd be freakishly awesome if I crouched down on my hands and ran.
I dunno. It's a lot of work. Let's wait and see what prizes they are giving out this year. =P
edit: If you have any recommendations feel free to give them. I've gone through prettymuch every standard SC and SC2 unit though, and Zergling and Reaper are about all that seem feasible... And there's no way I'm doing another build of something as hard as the Marine. (Which the Reaper would be)

I would love to do that, but I don't have the Marine costume to build off of anymore... So it'd be just as hard if not harder than the marine was. =( I really don't have the time to do a complex build, sadly. The next 3 weeks are dead for me so I'd only have about a month to make it... And well, there's no good terran units that fit that constraint. So it'd have to be a Zerg or Protoss, and that's difficult. Zergling is the only feasible thing I can think of... I dunno, we'll see.
I'm going to talk to my mom about it later, i can't pay for everything because I'm pretty much broke. I mean i probably have the cash for the plane ticket and the ticket to blizzcon but hotel and food etc are almost out of question.

For everyone contemplating a trip this year’s BlizzCon (October 10-11 in Anaheim, California), we’d like to give you a glimpse of just a few items you might find in your goody bag when you arrive at the show.
If you’ve ever been on the verge of finishing off a paladin, only to be foiled at the last second, you’ll appreciate the 16" inflatable divine shield ball, complete with a paladin inside in the midst of hearthing away. Half of the goody bags handed out will contain the bubble-hearth ball, while the other half will have...
Frostmourne. The very name of Arthas’s runeblade strikes terror into hearts across Azeroth. Now it comes to you in a more convenient package, and you don’t even have to travel to Icecrown Glacier to get it. As you go about your daily activities, whether they be raising legions of the undead or just brooding on your throne, carrying this 48” inflatable Frostmourne will grant you an extra touch of sinister majesty.
That’s just the beginning, though, as both the goody bags and the on-site store will be stuffed with sample products from our licensed partners and plenty more fun and unique Blizzard-themed trinkets, such as Diablo health and mana stress balls, pandaren brewmaster bottle openers, zerg creep, and much more. And of course, a new BlizzCon brings with it a lovable murloc to welcome into your heart--but murlocs don’t always come alone. This one has developed a taste for speed, and sits astride an exclusive polar bear mount, waving a BlizzCon flag. It’s the perfect way to cruise Northrend in style.
If you have questions about the Blizzard Store, our Frequently Asked Questions page may be able to help. Additionally, our Sales team can be reached by phone at (800) 592-5499. GOGOGO

believe it or not, I was able to get to the final page and it was "processing..." then I got error message. But I ended up getting an email with the purchase receipt and an email saying my debit card was charged $100. So I think I actually got one!

About missing school: I never skipped a single class in high school, so I think I can offer my point of view here.
In university, I learned that if I missed class frequently, then I would have a much weaker understanding of the material and get lower marks. But if I missed an isolated day, it made no difference. Of course it would take me a little longer to learn the material on my own than if I had attended class, but as long as I put in the extra time to learn it, I was fine.
Now, personally I think it's admirable that some of you guys are concerned about missing class. Fuck what Chill, Haji, etc. say: more people should have that attitude. It's good because you don't want to skip class on an impulse (like "OMG MUST GO TO BLIZZCON!!1") or due to immature peer pressure (*leers at Chill and Haji*) and then later realize it was a dumb thing to do.
That said, once you get over the impulsive, emotional part, you can sit down and think whether it's really worth it to skip class for X, keeping in mind that you can miss one day without affecting your marks.
My advice is to buy the ticket. Worst case scenario: you change your mind or you find out you have a big test on that day and the teacher won't let you take it early: you sell the ticket and optionally make a profit from it. Normal case scenario: you finish homework ahead of time so that your weekend is free; you ask your teachers to give you the material for Friday in-advance, if possible (or just catch up after Blizzcon); you go to Blizzcon and have an incredible time.
This isn't like skipping school to play WoW or iCCup: this is a once-a-year event, and I guarantee it will be far more fun than spending your weekend playing SCBW at home. The social experience alone will be unprecedented. You'll have to work a little bit harder before/after Blizzcon, but it'll be worth it.
Lastly, if you're still not convinced, then talk to one of your teachers about it, one whom you really respect. I can almost guarantee that they skipped their fair share of classes when they were in high school, and probably for much more trivial reasons than this, too. For this same reason, you shouldn't feel embarassed asking them for the day's material ahead of time with the intention to skip class.
I don't think selling the ticket will be easy. Tickets will be given out at the event, and you must show the credit card that was used to buy the ticket.

He just happens to present it in a better way than: "skip class we rock and its friday."
Update: 9:40 PM PDT - We are continuing our work on bringing the website back up, however, we have decided that we do not want to make everyone wait until the early hours of the morning, hoping at a chance to purchase tickets. Thus, we will not bring up the website until after the beginning of business day tomorrow, Tuesday, August 12. We want to assure everyone that a great majority of tickets are still available for purchase.
Chill: after a while, you and Haji basically ended up acting like those little pricks in school who bully other kids and make them do stupid or humiliating stuff out of fear of being called a wimp, etc. The goal was different, but the method was the same, and I wasn't going to sit around and let that kind of bullying get written off as socially-acceptable.
If he doesn't want to go then that's his choice. If he wants to go after class is done then that's his choice. Stop giving him shit for it.
And like Alventenie said, there are better ways to present it.
I don't see how Blizzard runs hundreds of servers for 10 million WoW players yet can't handle a few thousand people trying to buy Blizzcon tickets. You'd think they would have the IT infrastructure for this. I don't remember their servers shitting out last year either.

to be fair, this year you have the combined powers of SC2 and D3 teaming together
like i said on the previous page, its an elaborate scheme to create more 'rush' for the tickets. And to quote blabber, yea you actually need to show the credit card used to purchase and an ID that matches each name on each ticket. Thats why I'm buying a ticket for my gf and she has to come to collect the goodie bag even though she probably doesn't really wanna go.
They didn't strictly enforce the credit card requirement last year. One of my friends freaked out because he left his credit card at home, but they let him in anyway since he had ID. Better safe than sorry in any case.
Managed to snag my tickets last night, around 10pm PST. The servers were up for a few minutes, before they decided to take them down for the night.
Hotel/flights are booked.
Was a shame though, Kingkosi and I are going, and I had to search around for a hotel that had a check in age of 18 (as opposed to 21). Ended up spending $100 more for flight/hotel. Staying at Americas Best Inns Anaheim over Extended Stay Anaheim Convention Center (that's what I believe was recommended by a few people in this thread, but their check in age is 21). It's still relatively close though, only 1 mile away from the convention center.

Bill, the point is to build excitement. Am I going to fly internationally to go to some convention? Probably not, but if there's a bit of hype and excitement around it then I might. I believe more than a few people got convinced to go to BWWI because of the hype, and as more people go, the more fun everyone has.
That's the point that should be gotten across. I don't care what life lessons people have to learn to go, I'm more caught up in trying to show them the hype that's surrounding the event and getting them excited. If, after that, someone can't decide between Blizzcon and school, I don't want to convince them to go because I probably don't want them there anyways.

He can't sell the ticket and make money. You have to pick up the tickets with the credit card you bought them and a matching ID.
He is a sophomore. Its not that big of a deal to skip 1 day of school.
I really didn't want to post back in this thread again, but I guess the situation warrants it. It's not so much of an issue with me wanting to go, obviously I really want to go - but with all these complications it'll just be impossible for it to just happen. Why would I not want to go? Of course if I could decide between the two I would decide Blizzcon, but the fact is, it's not my decision to make. It's my parents' decision, and I finally mustered up the guts to ask them on the phone and they said it was unacceptable - there's nothing I can do to that short of disobeying them (which I would never do). On top of that, my brother is too lazy to buy the tickets in the first place, and doesn't even want to buy them because he's not even sure he wants to even go at all.
Missing a day of school is a pretty big deal for me - although for my brother when he was in high school it was a common occurence, I'm not like him in the least.

What the fuck?
You seriously want to shun someone just because school is a high priority for them?! The nicest, friendliest guys I have met have all had school as a high priority. Of course now we're old enough to know when to make that trade, but I doubt I'm the only one who would've seriously hesitated about it when I was younger. Which also means I take this statement personally. But even if I didn't, it's still deplorable.
Why would you judge somebody's ability to get along with you based on their desire to not miss school? Are you so shallow that you would sit there and mock kids that don't want to miss school to go to Blizzcon?
Superiorwolf is what, like 15-16 probably and Asian... you aren't asian Chill so you don't really understand their culture all to well, but if he's got traditional asian parents, missing a day of school, especially for a video game convention is a BIG no-no. I can also guarantee they will not be pleased AT ALL about him traveling with some random guys he vaguely knows through the internet, if he doesn't go with his brother.
Blizzcon is going to be lots of fun, and I would advise anybody who is willing and able to go, to make the journey and attend, but if its too much hassle, and school is a priority for you and you don't want to miss it... then no big deal.
Although in defense of the people advocating "fuck school, come to Blizzcon" I'll say this:
Superiorwolf is probably in high school, I can almost guarantee there is no such thing as "missing 1 day of school = lower your GPA" ... any school I can think of (my HS for example, which was a really high ranked public school in LA) allows multiple absences before it affects you; mine allowed 6, and on the 7th you get an F in the class. Since you don't miss school ever, I can guarantee that 1 day will not affect your grades or anything, it's just about getting parental approval.
Anyways, Chill you are really just sounding like one of those jocks in hs who would make fun of the nerds for playing magic the gathering, or actually studying for their classes... except in this case you are equally as nerdy... let's not forget that (anybody who would travel some kind of distance to watch people play video games and oogle over Koreans who are famous for sitting in a room in front of a compute 13 hours a day is a fucking nerd - myself included)

You do realize, at that age, all it takes is a strong conscience that says "missing school = very bad" to make a person afraid to miss school for anything? I don't see what problem you'd have with someone just because their conscience is well-developed.
If you need the credit card you purchased the ticket with to physically get the ticket, how did the winners of the ticket competitions for last Blizzcon get their tickets?

Just lighten up.
It's an assumption. I'm looking at someone's values and saying we aren't compatible. I don't know how saying we wouldn't get along is offensive. You don't have to be friends with everyone!
Yes I'm that shallow, that should be pretty evident at this point.
Yes, that's my point. There is no rule if you miss one day of school your GPA drops. I'm calling him out on his bullshit.
I don't know what you're getting at Xeris or why you're taking offense to this. I want him to come, that's why I'm fighting for him to come. How is that coming across at jockish? I'm not making fun of him for coming, I'm trying to convince him to come, while you guys seem to be fighting tooth and nail for him not to come. I don't get it.
Okay, seriously, I reread it and your analogy makes no sense. You're saying I shouldn't tease someone for doing something because I'm doing it too. So what am I making fun of SuperiorWolf that I am also doing? Going to Blizzcon? Staying in school? Being asian?

Why do you think I have a problem with him? I'm fighting for him to come. Why are you fighting for him not to come? He's a big boy Bill, he can tell me if he thinks I'm an idiot and he can't come. Maybe someone pushing him a little is what he needed to consider challenging his parents?
Either way it's not like I'm harassing him. We talked via PM, he gave the definitive "I'm not coming" and I say okay. Now he's not even involved and you're taking offense. He didn't take offense, why are you?
"I'm fighting for him to come. Why are you fighting for him not to come?" Actually the exact opposite was happening. You two were pushing him away from the idea and I was the one convincing him to change his mind.
We talked via PM and he said he'd try to persuade his parents to let him go and his brother to buy the tickets. So much for "the definitive 'I'm not coming' "?
I took offense because the behaviour you guys displayed sickens me.
god damn thats not fucking fair, the website never even fucking worked for me. Ive been trying to buy it for 2 days and ive fucking been going back to the site every 15 minutes and it somehow sells out in 15 minutes? wtf

I should really be working instead of camping the blizzcon page trying to get tickets. I've lost way more than the $100 ticket price for lost time in billing hours over the last two days.
My cart still shows 1 ticket, but still no accept button on the legal page.
My girlfriend got the sold out message but kept refreshing the page and eventually got past it. We got our tickets now =) My advice to you is to continue to refresh the page. Just don't kill the server.
they are not sold out. Try refreshing your cache if you use firefox: Go to tools and then clear your private data and then check of cache do it refresh the page and it should let you add tickets to your cart again

Refreshing does nothing for me. Best part is I went through the entire process with no errors... and I pressed confirm to buy them and it goes "Sorry quantity has changed since you put the item in your cart" and goes back to the 1st page where all it says is "Sold out"... so lame -_-

"Just got off the phone with someone at Blizzard- Shane, I think - anywho, he stated that Blizzard IS selling the tickets in batches due to the fact that every order that comes in through their computer system has to be manually finished by a person, hence the up and down of the ticket availibility. He also stated that THEY ARE tickets still available, but again, they will be avaiable in batches."
Quoted from someone of the wow forums, keep trying people.
Too bad they gank the tickets right out of your cart if they are purchased by someone else.
That's fucking lame. I've had tickets in my cart which were unable to be purchased for the past 36 hours or so because of all the errors. Finally it goes all the way to the end, only to reset and tell me they're not available.
I've been looking for someone that is attending that would be willing to part with the Pandarean Brewmaster Bottle Opener that comes in the blizzcon grab bag for a price. Depending on how dumb or awesome this looks, i'd really like to use this for work, I'm a bartender in las vegas. PM ME thx
I think it's pretty stupid that you can lose items that you place in your cart. They should do it like Ticketmaster where it's "reserved" for you for a certain amount of time while you process your order.

Same. I went to both previous Blizzcons, and was hoping to go a third time and possibly rape the competition in the costume contest for a third time as well. =\

It's also pretty stupid to not have a working site for a day and a half after you've announced the day the tickets go on sale a month ahead of time.
The bulk of the BlizzCon tickets we had available were sold out within minutes of ticket sales going live again this afternoon. We have a small reserve of tickets left -- to make these available to some of you who might not have had a chance to purchase yet, we will be releasing the remaining reserve tickets for sale tonight, August 12, at 8:00 PM PDT. We appreciate the enthusiasm everyone has shown, and wish we were able to accommodate even more attendees at this year’s BlizzCon.
Fucking shit. I was up since 6AM MT yesterday and wasted 2 days trying to get two tickets and was shafted both times they went up as I was trying. Blizzard pissed me the hell off.
On August 13 2008 08:59 CharlieMurphy wrote: so at 8pm Pacific time the next batch of tickets goes on sale? What are they doing like 2k per incriment?
What is the max amount of tickets they can sell ? I mean the person capacity of Anahiem Conv. Center is how much? 10k?
The anaheim convention center has a capacity of over 50k between all their halls. Blizzard is selling 12k tickets. There aren't increments, aside from a small batch of "reserves" that go on sale in a little more than two hours from now, Blizzcon is supposedly sold out.
Also having the tickets in your cart or though the checkout purchase doesn't reserve them for you, you still need to get to the confirmation/receipt page before all the tickets are sold.
Wow cool i checked last night before bed at 10, before i left for work at 6:55am.. When I got to work at 8, then again about an hour later and then had to do work stuff. And now i get home and its sold out:p
I honestly didn't believe this would happen again after they increased capacity or w/e but ugh. How gay. I guess there is one more batch left to go at 8pm.. I don't even feel like bothering to try to order since Im not positive i would be going and i guess the ticket is locked to your name so I cant even give it to a friend if I end up not making it. Not to bitch, i just think its horseshit that the cart went down for a day then goes up randomly in the middle of the day only to sell out instantly because of the fervor that was built up.
Blizzard really fucked this up, horribly screwing over thousands of people who planned to go to this shit for months / planned time off and *waited in line* the whole time. Then you have garbage people like this...

It's not the being unable to buy tickets that bothers me, but the absolutely horrible way that Blizzard went about it. If they tickets went on sale on time and sold out super fast and I missed it, I wouldn't be as upset. but them not making their sell deadline and then getting tickets up at random times throughout the next two days it what pisses me off. They should have just canceled and then announced a future date for sales to give them time to fix their store problems or seek other alternatives.
A lottery would have been better than how they chose to handle it.

A lottery would have been better than how they chose to handle it.
Yeah it's quite horrible. I definitely didn't get mine. -_- And it's not that I missed an opportunity. I was refreshing at all times during the past two days, without any breaks. It's just that Blizzard's website sucked.
Multi-billion dollar company running on what? Fucking AOL? Learn to use your fucken money properly, they knew before hand the incredible demand this year would bring with diablo and the other franchises, yet they still fucked up. Who the hell is making these decisions?

Yeah, it's hard for me to express my disappointment.
They shouldnt' have announced the sale date. I like how they did it the two previous years. Those who are dedicated enough to check the site daily deserve tickets a lot more than those who get lucky enough to slam onto the site's bandwidth at a set time. As I said previously, there was no time I wasn't on the ball during this whole operation, and I didn't tickets. If I had missed an opportunity, I'd be okay with not having tickets, but I was there, and I still didn't get them.
Maybe they should raise the ticket price next time? I mean it's nice that they don't want to exclude less-wealthy gamers with an outrageous ticket price, but considering the insane demand for the tickets at the current price and the pure luck required to get one, maybe the current system is even less fair.
BLIZZARD ALWAYS SELLS THESE TICKETS IN BATCHES. IF THEY DO NOT RELEASE ANOTHER BATCH OF TICKETS I WILL STEP DOWN FROM WHATEVER IT IS I DO AND PUT STRAFE IN CHARGE. THATS HOW CONFIDENT I AM THAT THIS WILL BE FINE
Tickets to BlizzCon 2008 are now sold out. We’d like to thank everyone once again for their overwhelming interest in this year’s show. If you were unable to secure tickets, please keep in mind that DIRECTV will be broadcasting BlizzCon live from the Anaheim Convention Center on October 11 and 12. I'd love to, but there's this little thing that us SC/D2 players have that WoW fags don't. It's called a job and it tends to make us miss the 2minute windows of extreme lag we have to buy it ticket if we're lucky enough to actually use the site.
Yeah... They always don't announce a sale date either. 2/2 isn't really what I consider an 'always'. You may be right though, so we'll see. I don't expect more tickets to go on sale, but let's hope they do. Even if they do, it'll still be a bitch to get tickets. =(
after "all the tickets are sold out. Thanks for trying lolercakes!! Go watch the ESL Stream!!" showed up during the sale of the wwi tickets i felt bad that i wouldn't see haji.... Then all of a sudden Haji, Meat, Xeofreestyler and Rage all got to WWI....without having bought "all the sold our tickets". Have some faith kids.

remember how it was for wwi? when the rereleased it, meat, me, rage all failed to get it on the first release despite being RIGHT THERE.
Thena bout 4 hours later we found out they were randomly releasing more tickets periodically that day. Now, WWI's main sales was nowhere near as chaotic and on high demand as this current blizzcon run.
as i said in the other thread. WIll there be another batch? Yes. Will we actually be abel to go through the system and get tickets? I really, really dont like my chances james.
I think we should set something up in IRC where someone who seems to be running fine on the site orders 5 tickets with 4 others on it with their names so its more likely that we get more people in.
I've been looking for someone that is attending that would be willing to part with the Pandarean Brewmaster Bottle Opener that comes in the blizzcon grab bag for a price. Depending on how dumb or awesome this looks, i'd really like to use this for work, I'm a bartender in las vegas. PM ME thx
If Kennigit is right and they randomly have another batch of tickets or some how TL acquires some tickets, and I am not around, someone please get me one I will definitely pay you for the ticket asap and will definitely go.
PS- What happened with the stuff they did last year, donating a few tickets to a bunch of sites to have contests and what not for tickets. They did nothing like that this year..

Blizzcon is the only time in the year I ever wish I lived in America. I would totally go to these conventions every single time without fail. Fuck Australia.

What would you suggest? It's either this or first come first serve, although the latter method wouldn't be bad if the site doesn't get overloaded again.
I thought it was retarded, but its only thing that works. they better have a gosu plan about this.
my concern. 100 thousands ppl have a blizzard store account (prob to buy their WoW time?, idk), the lottery is going to hit a scalper with 5+ accounts, person that wants it and person that couldnt care less. chances are like a mini lottery, literally.
You don't need a blizzard store account to play WoW. In fact, you didn't even need one to buy blizzcon tickets last year, unless they deleted accounts since then and I don't remember. I doubt that many people had accounts prior to this week.
I honestly find it hard to blame Blizzard for not anticipating the demand. Last year's Blizzcon was very easy to get tickets for, and this year: - in October instead of early August, which rules out a lot of students and families - no new game announcements (probably); last year everyone knew they were announcing something (WotLK) - perhaps playable D3; last year was the first chance anyone had to play SC2, plus WotLK - larger convention space - closer in time to previous convention; blizzcon 07 had a two year wait
I wouldn't be surprised if all the increased demand was from people buying multiple tickets who are planning to eBay the goodie bags. It'll be really funny if the convention center is only half full if that's the case.

Sorry, but you're a bit off. Last years sold out in three days with only sc2 and the possibility of a wow expansion for hype. This year has sc2, D3, wow expansion, and word of mouth from the thousands of people who went how awesome it was. If blizzard can't figure out that tickets are obviously going to be selling much faster than last year, which was ridiculous in the first place, then they are retarded.
Also, does anyone know how the lottery is actually going to work? I'm hoping that you have to sign up for a chance to buy it rather then have them send out the offer to 3k random accounts so that people who weren't even planning on going can buy them.
SC2 is old news, and we've had a few opportunities to play it already; last year was the first ever public showing. D3 might not even be playable, and if it is, it'll be a 20 minute demo that won't give you enough time to really get into it. Everyone that attended last year is already in the beta for the WoW expansion, and it will probably be released in November-December anyway. People not in the beta will get to play it a month in advance, whoopie. Playing WoW at blizzcon is a waste of time anyway - you barely have enough time to form a group and find a dungeon in the 20 minutes they let you play (according to people that played it last year, not personal experience). Last year had word of mouth from everyone that went in 2005. So I think you're a bit off.
I'm hoping for a lottery sign up as well, though they haven't announced anything yet.
Lottery update 8/19, on WoW main page. How nice of them not posting it on blizzcon site or blizzcon forum, favoritism.
As discussed last week, we’re preparing a drawing to offer 3,000 more BlizzCon 2008 tickets for sale. We’re finalizing the process now, and you’ll be able to enter the drawing soon -- in the meantime, here is an overview of how the drawing will work:
- To be eligible for the BlizzCon ticket drawing, you must (1) have an active Blizzard Account that was created on or before 9:00 p.m. PDT on Tuesday, August 12, 2008, when we first announced BlizzCon 2008 tickets had sold out; (2) be an adult in your country of residence; (3) have not previously purchased BlizzCon 2008 tickets; and (4) live in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, or South Korea.
- Prior to the drawing, we will hold an opt-in period during which you can enter an eligible Blizzard Account into the drawing for a chance to purchase two BlizzCon 2008 tickets. Once the opt-in period begins (on a date to be determined), you’ll see an opt-in feature when you log in to Blizzard Account Management. The opt-in period will last for several days. We will announce the date that the opt-in period will begin, along with the duration of the opt-in period, in advance on our websites. Please check back regularly.
- After the opt-in period ends, we will randomly select 1,500 eligible Blizzard Accounts from the opt-in pool to receive the opportunity to purchase up to two BlizzCon 2008 tickets. If selected, you will be notified via email with further information about how to purchase the tickets.
- Prior to the end of the opt-in period, please ensure the contact information (both email address and phone number) associated with the Blizzard Account is accurate and up to date, so that we may contact you if you are selected. To check and update your information, log in to Blizzard Account Management.
Please note that a Blizzard Account is an account created for the Blizzard Online Store -- as opposed to an account created for a Blizzard game, such as World of Warcraft. If you have any questions regarding Blizzard Accounts, please read our Blizzard Account FAQ.
We will announce when the drawing opt-in period begins on our website soon. For more information, please refer to our BlizzCon 2008 Ticket Drawing FAQ.
I get the feeling that Blizzard is really just adding tickets without actually having the space, so it could possibly end up cramped at the convention center. Notice how they pick 1,500 participants to buy up to two tickets. However, there are going to be people who only want to buy one ticket. Blizzard mentions nothing about a follow-up sale with those remaining un-purchased tickets.
The opt-in period begins on Wednesday morning and will end the evening of Sunday, August 24. As this is a random drawing, those who opt in early will not have a better chance of being selected than those who opt in later.

The place is huge and could hold a lot more people than just the 13,000 its now at.
PS- If anyone on this forum wins and doesn't have plans to buy 2 tickets already, please make a post and/or work out a deal for getting someone else the other ticket.
lol wish i could go i do a good impression of gnomish flying machine from warcraft 2 those old school war2 sounds don't seem to be as popular as the war3/wow ones though sadly!
The opt-in period for the BlizzCon 2008 Ticket Drawing is now over. We will be randomly selecting winners within the next few days and will announce when selections have been made on our websites. If you are chosen, you will receive an email from Blizzard containing information about how to purchase up to two tickets to BlizzCon 2008. If you haven’t done so already, please go to Blizzard Account Management and update your contact information. For more details, see the FAQ.
I'm not going, but I would signup and everything in case I won, to help somebody else out, but I wouldn't want to steal somebodys spot without having somebody who would for sure buy them...
Has anyone received an e-mail yet? I'm thinking at least one of us here at TL.net is bound to get a ticket, so I'm wondering if I should give up hope yet.

Why the fuck would you wanna win grand prize?
PS- Here is a fantastic Idea:
take a really large box or boxes and create a floating barracks with movable/landable legs that you kneel down and do to lift and land. That would be sick dope.
September 16, 2008 BlizzCon 2008 Ticket Drawing -- Sold Out All of the tickets available in the BlizzCon 2008 Ticket Drawing are now sold out. Ticketholders should keep an eye on the official BlizzCon site for the latest information on panels, contests, and other events at the show, which takes place Friday, October 10 and Saturday, October 11 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.
I think basically everyone who needed a ticket got one, except for Mahnini. If you have one extra, consider giving it to him! Don't worry Mahnini I'm on the lookout too!
As for meetups, we'll make an official TeamLiquid @ Bilzzcon thread in a bit detailing the plans. Suffice it to say the short of it is: Disney World Thursday, dinner Friday night, keg party with progamers Saturday night.
We'll be pretty easy to find. Look for the group of people in TeamLiquid shirts even if you're a lurker. Seriously, don't be the awkward person who doesn't introduce himself! Just say hi so our group grows and grows!
Oh, remove me from the "People who have tickets list."
I'm going and I'm bringing my girlfriend, her cousin, and her cousin's girlfriend along. I guess you can count me as bringing iNcontroL too since I got him his ticket.
So I have everything set out and ready to go now for myself, I just need to decide between driving and flying. I am most likely going to be driving from Salt Lake City Utah (10 hrs north of LA/600 miles) which means I will go thru vegas on the way there and whatnot (hopefully we dont stop). Anyway if anyone needs a ride to Blizzcon from SLC or Vegas (or anywhere inbetween) let me know, it would be roughly 50 bucks in gas to get there since me and my buddy are already going.
