I just realized today, after playing SC:BW for like 12 years off and on, that you can simply click a building and right click the where you want to rally it to. I have been using R + Left click to rally things ALL this time.

you never wondered why pros use camera keys to set rallies? I mean, F2, click building, F3 click location, repeat.

. If it makes you feel better right click doesn't work if you install from disks. You have to get the bnet update first.

Well you could still use both F2/F3 and R. The only noticeable difference in an FPVOD is that if pros were using R, there would be fraction of a second between the moment R is pressed and the left click is pressed where the game waits for the player to set a rally point location, which doesn't occur when you using right click.

the right click was a 'new' (lol) feature added in the last patches of the game, pros were probably used to 'r' at that point. old habits die hard.

Yeah, there are two misconceptions I often hear when it comes to bw mechanics. One is you have to use "R" for rally points, the other is you can't shift-click your workers back to the mineral line after building something.

That's true, but for SCVS, you need to set the mining command before it starts constructing, otherwise it will not be registered. That has costed me so much mining time ...

I know, right? It messes me up all the time. SC2's made my mechanics so lazy that way. Another trap I fall into sometimes is in SC2 I will send my workers to mine gas a split second before the refinery finishes, and in SC2, they wait for the building to complete and then start mining. In BW, if you do that, your workers sit there for a minute before you facepalm yourself realizing why you have no gas.

bahahahahhahahahaha!

ha... yeah, similar experiences myself in all sorts of games. Its amazing what we don't know sometimes.
Can we help spread the word and create pressure to get Rob Pardo to replace Browder as head of Sc2? Pardo led the team for broodwar, frozen throne, and wow/BC. We need to make this a thing before LotV development starts. Think about it.

Umm... I don't know that this could possibly be true...Since you could rally with right click rally since the SC Demo version where it was only TvT...

I've been playing this game for 8 years and I didn't know you could rally SCVs back after building a building to mine. I always have so many idle scvs late game because of it. So thankyou for pointing that out.

same here, as a P I always thought it was a specific advantage of my race and whenever I was T I would wait for the building to complete then manually select the scv to send it back to the minerals...

Same, I didn't know you could queue up mining until opening this thread ;__;

Did you guys know you can recall lockdowned units? You can do a full carrier attack right into a ghost trap and then simply recall them all to safety I didn't know this until a few days ago...

There is a trivia thread from 2008 or so with a whole bunch of "did you know you can X" with a lot of interesting doable things in BW. I can't find it but maybe someone knows what I am talking about.

The best was the mass recall on carriers game where the interceptors weren't recalled and had to fly across the whole map. I think it was a Stork game.

Actually it wasn't always like that, they released that update around 1.09 or 1.10, i think it was the same time they fixed that drone flying gas bug.

Old players (like me -_-) will still spam R key; click as a habit at the beginning of a game waiting for drones to pop out.

edit : ho patch 1.12 as it had been said.

That moment was hilarious. They get shot and half of them die on the journey across the map. Happened to me in a couple UMS games years and years ago as well.

I also didn't know you could queue up mining until opening this thread either though.
