WTF, been playing this game for years and just discovered tab+enter will always switch to All Chat and cntrl+enter is always Ally Chat. No wonder I'd sometimes reveal my teams plans when I already set to AC! Mind = blown.

I remember when this was added as well, so long ago now

Another feature added very late in BW's patch history:
/r to reply to the last whisper on Battle.net (ingame)

heh... I remember zealots changing from 80/80 to 60/100....

To this day, I still wonder whether it was a buff or a nerf

That one was so helpful xD before that I always had to type /w (name). Once /r became a thing, i enjoyed chatting with people via whisper so much more.

There's tons more things, but I can't remember now.

I guess most people know you can make units that don't have patrol or hold position, to do so if you select them with another unit that has it and that takes priority when selected. I use it for patrolling with SCVs for zerg expos in TvZ, and obviously to hold position SCVs at the ramp or somewhere.

Also, I agree about the minimap rally thing, it's very hard to precisely aim it, so it's just better to move your screen there and click on it instead of the minimap. If you use the minimap for rally, you might end up with units all over the place.

I didn't know you could hold down crtl and click on a unit and it would select all units of that type, I used to try double clicking on larvae to select 6-12 at a time but they would always move around. I did how ever know about shift clicking as protoss after building, didn't know you could for scv's and I still do it for drones every now and then after playing protoss for too long.

I just realized today, after playing SC:BW for like 12 years off and on, that you can simply click a building and right click the where you want to rally it to. I have been using R + Left click to rally things ALL this time.

Wow. I knew this when I was like 6.

Its ok. It took me just as long to figure out you can move drop by d click dropship. I've been hotkeying individual dropships and clicking on unit icon for similar effect.

That's a buff. Shields don't benefit from unit sizes/damage types and take full damage from all sources. HP benefits from that mechanic so zealots (small size) will take reduced damage from many sources once their shields are down.

Perfect answer. Oh, how I miss these (good and constructive) discussion from BW times. I almost shed a tear reading this.

Also, the nonshield HP benefits from the 1 armor they start with.

It's especially true as very often zealots are used as meatshields and don't benefit much from shield regeneration. Unlike goon/archons in pvz mid-late/late game that you keep alive forever thanks to shield regen and zealot tanking the damage.

Another important point: it's also 20 extra hp remaining after an EMP.

The solution to finding out these things in a timely manner is to play the Arcade. For instance, if you ever played Nexus Wars and didn't know the right click rally you would get yelled at eventually for being a noob.

so how about this

if you are terran, and you want to scout someone, say a protoss, but there's a zealot on his ramp blocking

you can mine minerals with your scv, tell the scv to go up the ramp, then liftoff your command center and pressing c for return cargo. Scv will enter gathering mode and be able to walk through the zealot.

Or how about this one, if you're in a zvp stalemate and you just have defilers and queens against his cannons, you can broodling larvea to get units, consume broodlings to get energy for plague and swarm, and win anyway.
