So I took a test recently, and I discovered I'm about 75% right-brained. I'm also a leftie, it is true that a majority of left-handed people tend to be right-brained, so I guess I fit that curve. Anyway, pretty much everything the test described was almost spot-on correct on my mannerisms in life. I dislike linear, repetitive things, and I dislike the teaching methods employed in schools. I can't even concentrate one thing, and I often distracted very easily. So I searched google for possible careers that cater to right-brained people and famous people that were right-brained people.
What do I get? Famous people: Mostly painters and a guy named Leonardo Da Vinci.
Possible careers? Peot Something liberal arts related An art career Forest ranger (LOL)
I got a little pissed off, because I want to become an actual scientist and I know pull off something major, (at least I think), because I'm actaully quite adept at using my left-brain somewhat. LoL at forest ranger, anyway are any you of guys right-brained and do you know any famous figures, or actual people that you know that are quite successful and use the majority of their right-brain?

most of those tests are bullshit. Just because some internet website says careers that "right sided brain" people get, doesn't mean you have to.

is the right brain the side for unstructured thought?

If you want to do something new in science you've got to be creative or it would have been done already!

I think the way your brain works (with respect to right brain vs left brain) is actually very complicated. I don't think you should let a test that gives you some simplified explanation of how you use your brain dictate what you do. Use judgments about things you have observed in life, and how they relate to things you want to do. For example, I am good at math, so I want to do something that involves using math skills. Rather than say, I am good at math, so I must have a well developed X section of the brain, and generally people with well developed X sections of the brain do something that involves math skills.
Simplified example of course, but I think it illustrates the point.

Well, I think I use both sides plenty

This sounds like it could be straight out of the horoscope in a shitty newspaper. I mean if you asked 10 people if they liked "linear, repetitive things" then like 9/10 will say no cause you've given no context on what these "things" are.
I wouldn't read to much into it.

The test was from a book not exactly the internet.

While most of the things I describe wasn't the entire thing, there were lot of things inside it, the traits described are the common elements of right-brained people. Also, it says I am very over-imaginative and fantasy propelled which is right.

it could be like horoscopes where everything is just rewording of something else that you bound to have anyway, so people goes "WOAAA THATS JUST LIKE ME" and stuff.
|
Don't worry all those dawgs don't know nothing. We lefties be hood non-conformists yo.

Somewhat off-topic: I've heard of someone that had to have one half of their brain removed through surgery at an early age, and, interestingly, the side of your brain remaining adapts and takes on the roles of the deceased half. So, one half does work for a complete brain. Shows how our brains can adapt lol.

Dude, dont read to far into this stuff. This sort of thing is for people who cant make up their mind about what they want to do, so they take a test and it points them in a possible direction. Its not something set in stone. And definitely not something you should be concerned over if it contradicts your planned future.

Yeah like everyone else said these tests are basically bullshit.

i've done a bunch of these tests, and i'm always center brained. almost exactly 50/50.

Love me some pseudo-science!
|
This is all true.
It's been proven scientifically: right-brained people are those who are much more likely to believe in dumb tests.
|
hey im a leftie
I study psychology which is a science and I fucking own at it, just do what you like don't create dumb self fullfilling prophecies because of some retarded internet test. The whole liberal arts relation to lefties is bullshit.

Sucks you only use 75% of your brain. Most people use 100%.
Do you tilt to the left when you walk?
|
test can't define you, and you can train urself to get a better left brain. Both are important, strive for banance through trainings.

Who actually does like how they teach in schools and you like starcraft so how can you not like linear repetitive things

Do you tilt to the left when you walk? Actually people only use 10% of their brain, I use 75% of my right-brain and the rest of it is the is left. Sucks that you only used only 2% to read my post and not even understand it. Jokes on you buddy

That's a myth actually: http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/tenper.html
And since you seem like the type of person who doesn't know much here's an update on the modern world: - The direction water flushes isn't dependant on which hemisphere you're in. - Cold medicines won't actually cure you. - Horoscopes are bullshit. - You can fold a piece of paper more than 7 times. - The Iraq war was not linked to terrorism. - Einstein wasn't a theist. - Pong wasn't the first video game. - Thomas Edison didn't invent the light bulb. - US parties are right-wing and more-right-wing. - Lemmings don't jump off cliffs. - The Great Wall is not visible from space. - Space isn't cold. - Shaving doesn't cause hair to grow back thicker.
I'm sure there's lots more out there, but there's whole websites dedicated to that kind of stuff.

- You can fold a piece of paper more than 7 times. Depends on how you fold it. If you fold it in half, then rotate it, and fold it in half again, you can only get up to 7. If you fold it length wise a bunch... and then rotate it, you can get more...
Mythbusters <3
- Space isn't cold. It is if there aren't any stars around :O All those astronauts working on the space station talk about how blistering hot it is on the light side of the space craft, and how unbearably cold it is on the dark side (or is that because their spacesuits are constantly on cooling mode? :S I'd assume they're high tech enough to have both heating and cooling functions...
- Cold medicines won't actually cure you. They alleviate symptoms though... Which is all any normal human being cares about when they're trying to get to sleep.
Just thought... I'd pointlessly amend that...
