HuK has gotten to Code S by going 6-6 through Code A and Up and Downs, and by a path that was arguably one of the easier ones. Yeah, he had to play Losira, but by that point he was already in the up and downs. I don't think he even had to play any qualifiers for Code A, did he? If not, without question, he has had by far the easiest route to Code S.
That is why people are saying he may not be Code S material. But he has the chance now to prove it. I don't feel good about his chances though...

Not HuKs biggest fan, but credit where credits due, well done HuK!
I'm sure he will put in alot of hours to really perform in the Code S, Awesome to have another foreigner in there!

lol, HuK had no chance if he faced Losira or SuperNova in the first round obviously.

No.
He got seeded, Torch didn't.

nope. Huk, Ret, Haypro and Moonglade got auto seeds into Code-A.

I would recommend taking out phrases such as "most certainly" if you're just making things up and don't actually have any idea.
HuK was automatically seeded in Code A as a high ranked foreigner and did not have to play a single game.

Oh well.. he has had an easier run than most but it's good to see him finally in Code S - hopefully he can make something happen there..

Code S means a LOT, and Huk got relatively easy drawings every single time, lost to everyone he faced there were good, Losira and Inca, but still got into Code S somehow.
I fully expect him to get manhandled in his first Code S match, but kudos to him for making it at least. Hope he can step his game up, as it is lacking in several aspects.
He'd make a great TvP training partner for Jinro Im sure. Huk is good enough for code s, he might not win vs guys like nestea but hes definetely good enough. Losira is good enough for Code S. Squirtle is good enough for Code S. I've yet to see anything from Huk that indicates that he's good enough for code S. You seem to forget a small fact here : Actually Squirtle is in code B and HuK is in code S. Squirtle did good in teamleagues but I don't see why he should be considered greatly superior to HuK, esp when you look at his subpar performance at IEM. lol? 3rd place is subpar? Damn ur standards are high. That`s what i was going to reply lol. Idra was technically a Code S player when he went to iem. Squirtle crushed him. Squirtle is technically a Code B player. What`s happening now. Your logic is failing Chap. Yep! Did you actually watch his matches against idra because that was definitely not "crushing", even disregarding the fact the series was 3-2 and it was the easiest matchup in the game If you watched the games you'd see that idra did get demolished. He had zero chance of winning that series and lost to the same strategy over and over. Ace vs. Idra was more lopsided, but Ace beat idra twice in a row with the same strat. A similar strat to the strat squirtle used to crush him.
Also, the Code S statistics haven't yet been posted, but in the Code A PvZ is the most even matchup of all the matchups. The most lopsided Code A matchup was PvT where Terran had just under a 58% win rate against protoss. Next was TvZ at 56% in favor of Terran. PvZ was 53-47. Just because you or Idra struggle with a matchup doesn't mean there's something wrong with it so please if you're going to contribute at least try to keep it neutral.

huk definitely can't rest on his laurels.
Getting into Code S is a great achievement by itself (easy or tough bracket aside), but the real fight starts now.

I can't believe huk made it. GL though. He'd better practice his ass off.

Omg Huk made Code S NICE!!!

HuK is a monster on stream when I play. Let me put it this way. Whos ever stream I watch, I tell myself, I could do this; I do do this, and they just do it slightly more consitantly than me.
When I watch HuK play, his play is on a whole new level. If I try to replicate some of the manuevers he does I can't. He plays very smart and fast... And I would consider him a top 5 KR protoss. His mechanics feel so solid, better than tylers clean play in BW imo.
I do believe it's nervous issues when he's playing on the big stage, and I'm glad he made code A. He has a lot to prove but I think he has what it takes... He just needs to get used to it all and overcome any worries he has. GL HuK!

To all of those people saying HuK doesn't deserve Code S - the player that he knocked out was CHOYA of all people. What happened to all of the Choya haters all of a sudden? Do you guys honestly believe that Choya is a more solid player than HuK? I know that the ladder doesn't mean much, since most of the Korean pros use it to test out new strats or to fool around, but judging from HuK's play on his stream, he certainly has pretty solid mechanics and decent understanding of most matchups. Seems to me that he has terrible stage fright (Losira seemed to think so as well).
Choya, on the other hand, has never seemed to be a solid player. Then again, I have never seen him play off the air, and considering that the guy talks to himself in the booth, he might be a nervous wreck as well. MC did say that the guy is "chobo"...but, that could just be bias. Who knows what the "real" skill level of these guys are.

I know HuK didn't exactly steamrolled through code A, but the competition is much harder there than at IEM. My point wasn't to prove the HuK was the next Nal_ra but rather that he deserves his place into code S as much as someone like July, who got knocked out of code A tournament at the same stage that HuK and who barely went through the up and down matches by beating Rain after getting 2-0ed by Kyrix.

Huk's gonna get super-motivated and crush some nerds in Code S. Go Huk!
|
HuK is one of the nicest and most humbl pros out there. Haters gonna hate.
|
None of Huk's wins ever impressed me. I like the guy, and I know he's good, but when he was in Code A he won by his opponents making mistakes. If he played someone like supernova, Leenock, Losira etc. first round there was no way he would've made it into Code S. Also, he got seeded in the tournament (along with other foreigners) over some Koreans like DongRaeGu, Bomber, Seed, Yonghwa etc. even though they might've been stronger players. Like I said though, don't take this the wrong way. It's always good to have foreigners in the tournament, I just don't think he can stay very long in Code S with the way he's been playing.

While this is true, don't forget that last season, Huk was only a single game away from getting into Code A through the same brutal elimination tournament that everyone else went through.
So although he got his code A spot automatically this season, it's not like he isn't on the same level as other people who weren't automatically seeded.
It will be very tough for Huk next season to stay in Code S, but I have a feeling he will buckle down, practice insanely hard, and do it.
