HellGreen - I love talking about ScC , so no problem really Also I always need fedback and new ideas since I'm pretty busy with coding , I really can't sit back and think about those kinda stuff these days.
I see your point. And you may get some streams before TL does. But still, I would guess the amount of streams that TL get before you is even larger? No? Maybe? . Anyway, please do consider my suggestion to make a submit option (either through web page or the app) - of course you may need a validation system/moderator group.
Well we have a feedback feature in ScC for that , also anyone can post here for any missing streams too. I can't see how would a webpage help further? Adding streams is eeeassy and if it's on TL , it'll be on ScC in a few hours if not minutes. What we need help for , is russian , korean , chinese streams.
Well, that could be solved by design. I.e the "StreamTracker by disco" app, relies on data not from teamliquid.net, but from the author's server. He has made a server side script that does the parsing and saves the data to (i presume) a database. The clients only requests data from the server. Problem solved . If I read your reply correctly, you already use this method to some extend?
Well it's pretty much how ScC Stream service works , except we're gathering data ourselves , instead of reading it off TL. And still if TL Coders change one little thing in that page , our service will be down for hours and then I'll need to write another parser for it. Relying so much on a web page parsing process ( I would totally do it if TL had a detailed stream info service / rss for it tho) doesn't sounds like a good idea to me really.
I recognize the work needed to do it. I humbly suggest this feature, because (again IMHO) it seems like a majority of the viewers would like to know "when is the next show?". A tracker would give them a tool to figure out a "schedule pattern" for the streamer in question. I respectfully disagree on a CPU load problem though. It's all about serving the data (ie. in plain xml). I have read in the thread, that you are very observant on making the app as light as possible and I fully respect that (although I'm not completely disregarding that the built-in flash player is about 100% more CPU intensive than my browser (sarcasm+humor applied) :-D).
Well actually it's a good idea , the problem is whenever someone asks for a new feature or improvement ; I ask myself "will it worth the effort?" And it's not because I'm being lazy or something , the limiting factor here is time. I'm the only coder for ScC at the moment , and I already got a decent amount of stuff to do so for now , I'm only going for things with high importance/effort value. To me , stream schedule sounds like a "good to have" thing. It also requires a pretty good amount of code and it'll be haaarrrrdd to visualize ( UI , believe me it's a bitch and visualizing dates , times in a timeline........oh boy )
Guess I look like a nay sayer now , but at this moment ; I can't really see it helping ScC more than other stuff I'm working on. So yeah , in future , when I'm done with main features and maybe got some coding help ; sure I'll give it a shot no doubt
I really love & appreciate your feedback. ( Also thanks for the kind words ) Keep them coming and I'll do all I can to improve ScC
Also as an additional personal note : I passed my final exam today and guess I'm graduated now! WOHOO! Now gotta find an EU / US university for master grad degree or a job I guess

i just reinstall this program, but somehow my stream list is missing. so i can't watch stream now. how to solve this?
|
tomwizz - Can you please try "Refresh Notifications" from menu or simply restarting ScC? That glitch happens when ScC can't connect and get streams data from server and should be fixed by a refresh or restart.
Please let me know if it's a persistent problem tho , may be something new.
|
thank you now it work perfectly for me. i think that was my connection problem.
|
tomwizz - Cool! Please let us know if you like it or not
As I said before , I'm working on streams window improvements these days. Just added streamer race ( terran , zerg , protoss , random , caster (mic icon) ) and language to streams window. Here is who it looks like ;
Oh and just noticed it ; I'll just remove that bottom Last update info box , we won't need it anymore. ( too lazy to get a new screenshot )
Also guess I said it before but I also added lock ratio option to stream settings ( it doesn't look too smooth so its just an opiton for now) as Gamgee requested. And someone mailed and asked for persistent player positioning , just finished that too , now whenever you run ScCPlayer , it'll be at where it were when you last closed it properly. Trying to get it all work better & smoother for you guys.
I'll also change / improve stream notification system , and then I guess we're ready to release a new version. Let me know if there are any other improvements you want guys !
Edit : Guess we also need a new icon for "Featured" , it's hard tho , believe me I tried a lot of different icons for it , nothing really fits Maybe just a bold nice blue "TL" instead of an icon....

This is awesome, using it as we speak . Ty for this.

Hello. I really love ScCallendar! But i have a problem. The only way i can watch a stream is by using "Play in Default Browser" because when i want to watch it with ScCallendar only thing i see is a black screen and nothing happens. I read that i should install Flash Player for IE (im using chrome but i did downloaded Flash Player by IE) and to install .Net 4 so i did that as well. But it just wont work. Please can Anyone help me? Im using Windows 7 64bit. Thanks.

Ebuzola - Glad you like it Ebuzola!
Keis - Indeed there is a problem with new player ( a problem with Chrome actually , the tech behind our stream player is based on Google's Chrome) , it just doesn't work on some systems. Gamgee found a solution for it , I tested it and worked for me ; here it is ;
On February 14 2011 03:06 Gamgee wrote:Ah ha! I've now got the new player working. It looks like the issue was simply that I didn't have Flash installed, per se - I use Chrome as my main browser, with IE as backup. Since Chrome comes with its own flash player, and IE uses the ActiveX plugin, I'd never had any need to install the standalone Flash plugin that other applications would use (and Adobe likes to be helpful and not let you install it again easily). It's possible that other Chrome users would have this issue as well; if so, here's the easiest way I found to install it: 1) Open a new tab in Chrome. Type in about:plugins into the address bar, hit enter, find Flash Player. If you click the + Details button in the upper right of the page, and Flash Player only lists "gcswf32.dll" as the plugin file, then you don't have the Flash plugin installed. 2) From that Plugins page, disable Flash, and then navigate to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer; if the native flash player is still enabled, it will just say "Chrome comes with Flash, so use that k?", but with it disabled it will let you download and install the latest version. 3) Go through the flash install process there - once done, check the plugins screen, and you should notice that Flash now says (2 files) next to it, and has two listings when you click the + Details button. You can now disable the listing for "\NPSWF32.dll", and re-enable the listing for "gcswf32.dll", to use the built-in flash player for Chrome again.
I'm looking for a way to make this fix easier in next version but till then please let me know if it works for you or not

Yes! Yes! Yes! : D Its working. Thank You very much : D. Im so happy. Thank You once again :D

First of all , Keis - I'm sorry for late answer, I just don't like to bump my own topic with 2 line posts Glad you like it man , thanks for your post!
and ,
ScC 1.4.2b is Released!
Changelog + Show Spoiler + - Reworked how stream listing works. Can now handle more streams and is very stable. (active) - Reworked how adding a stream to our list works. This does not affect the user. (active) - Fixed a problem with justin.tv streams showing up as offline in old player (active) - Fixed a problem with the own3d overlay (Informing you that own3d doesn’t support auto play yet) showing up when you tried to switch FROM a own3d stream (should be when switching to). - Improved the look of new player settings, you can now see the stream you’re tweaking :D - Reworked how stream notifications work. New setting: Display all stream notification / Only favorites. - Added more information to streams. Language, league (including bw), featured (TL), race (and caster). Default is Caster (microphone icon). **** This will progressively get more accurate! If someone is filed as a caster/terran/other but isn’t please send us the correct information though feedback or the Teamliquid topic! This information is put in manually so everyone does not have their correct information yet! **** - Lock ratio option (for easier resizing) added - The name bar now doesn't show when in flash mode. This enables the user to have access to justin.tv resolution controls. Added a notification about how you can toggle the flash back off with T. - Reworked the look of new player overlays. - Removed borders from all windows - Updated the styles for ALL windows to remove most of the battle.net 0.2 ripoffs. - Experiment: Removed old style windows (to see if anyone will notice, also they’re ugly) - Added a retry option if the server fails to get stream information on startup.
Changelogs are boring tho right? So ;
WHAT'S NEW?
- First of all , we now got RACE and LANGUAGE information for streams.
- We also got a MUCH MUCH better stream notification system , so I really doubt you'll miss any streams with ScC anymore.
- We also changed the main style a bit , windows are less bulky now and looks much better ( at least to me )
- We removed all old styles which increased performance and stuff. So yea it works&feels faster now!
- Oh another big thing , ScC Stream Player is now a STAND ALONE APP! I tweaked it to work as a stand alone application and ScC setup will create a shortcut on desktop so whenever you want to watch streams , you can directly jump in player just with a double click !
- Lots of other UI improvements , ie ; - ScCPlayer top bar is not blocking Justin quality settings anymore - ScCPlayer Settings layer is smaller so you can see the stream while tweaking Contrast & Brightness
Download Page : http://sccalendar.codeplex.com/ (Screen shots in that page is old now , I'll renew them after this post)
Enjoy!

The release seems fine since we haven't gotten any bad feedback yet =D!
On a related note.. please don't forget to add your contact information when you send the feedback. The current system needs it for us to be able to reply

I still have issues with the app, not showing up in the correct place, on a multi-monitor system. The event-ticker is showing just fine (see picture A), but when I left-click the tray-icon, I only get the top 1½ menu items (see picture B). Actually it bothers me beyond that, because I can't close the app due to that button is not shown on a visible part of my screen.
I run a three monitor setup, say monitor 1, 2 and 3. They are placed horizontally next to each other, the bottom of each monitor are aligned (see picture C). The main monitor is #2. The Win7 Start-bar is placed on monitor #1. Furthermore monitor #1 is rotated 90° (portrait mode).

HellGreen - Hey HellGreen , nice to hear from you again!
Ouch , your monitor setup is hard Working on different sized monitor in multi-monitor environment can be painful sometimes.
First of all ; did you had this problem with previous version or just 1.4.2b ? You never said anything about monitor problems before iirc. ( Actually I just noticed the version you're using is not 1.4.2b , so I guess you just changed your monitor setup so never said anything about it before eh?)
And you seems to use #2 as your main but your system uses #1 as main which is in portrait mode. Can you try to make you standard monitor ( #2 in that picture ) , system main and try on it?
Also can you please check your Dpi settings and tell me what dpi you're using? We have fixed Dpi related issue in previous release but still , might be important.
By the way , as Tnud said , we got a few feedback mails without contact information guys We can't turn back to you without any contact information so please don't forget to add it if you're sending a bug report / request etc.
Oh and I forgot to say in previous post ; we also have a twitter account for our stream service now!
http://twitter.com/sccalendar
Our stream service tweets every stream going online and you can check the stream history of any streamer by clicking their ID's. Should be also useful for mobile phones , as far as I know all modern mobile phones has a twitter client application right? So enjoy! ( Also I'm a newbie when it comes to twitter thingy , so please let me know if I'm doing something wrong or can improve it somehow )

When opening stream chat I am not able to type anything in the chat?

Wow just downloaded and this thing is amazing, saves a lot of time to see the stream viewers and stuff. Was wondering if there could be like a Pop-out default browser option under maybe Play in default browser. I like popping out tons of streams and watching them instead of watching on JTV.

Hey you. Of course, I will try to answer your questions

You are right. I just recently purchased my no. three monitor, but it ran fine on my two monitors (after you fixed it in a earlier version, mentioned somewhere in this thread). Back then my start-menu was on the main monitor.

If I do that, the app shows up correctly (I take it, you need this information to troubleshoot, 'cause I can't have my portrait monitor as main, 'cause then SC2 will run on that ).

I run on Win7 default 100% (=96 DPI)
Now that I momentarily can use the entire menu (just joking), I will be sure to update the app.
I'll keep you posted with anything I can, to help your work on this great app :D

Thorantham - Hmm which streams ( and stream providers , lik ustream , justin etc ) does that happen? Justin.tv for example chaging so many thing these days , they switched to a new stream player these days for example , so they may have broken somethings
ImHuko - Hey Huko , glad you like it man! Excuse me but I don't understand what you asked for You mean something to open streams in browsers other than your default one? By the way you can run more than one ScC Player you know. It WILL use lots of ram but if you're not doing anything else , you can easily run 5+ ScC Players and watch everything at once
HellGreen - Hmm so it seems like portrait mode causing problems It'll be a hard fix and will take time man ( as I only have 1 ( okay maybe 1.5 with my old 17" lol) monitor.) It maybe a framework related problem too , as I get numbers for positioning from framework etc.
My previous question was just to understand what's going on, but now it seems switching ScC monitor settings is the only quick solution. Have you tried that? You don't need to change your main monitor or etc , just check ScC Settings -> Windows and Monitor settings. I guess that's the only quick solution I got to offer

I guess that's the only quick solution I got to offer In my previous post I did not change away from portrait mode. I just made the portrait mode monitor the main monitor (through Win7 display settings). I can add that switching the position through your interface (changing monitor as you suggested) really adds to the complexity of this problem. I switched between all three (that I have) and none showed up where expected. One was completely off-screen, the other two were showing parts of the menu, like in my original post.
I completely realize I have a unique set-up, and that you shouldn't give it full attention. I will continue to use the app as best as I can (primarily on my netbook). Thanks.

HellGreen - I'll do what I can , but as Tnud said , monitor settings is a bitch to work with
ImHuko - After a little research , now I get what you meant I'm afraid that doesn't look easy but I'll try it anyway. Still , by then , you can just launch multiple ScC Players
