Congratulation on being a complete asshole and making one of the most retarded comparison in these boards history.

I enjoyed her commentary overall and I am really sad to see her go but not everyone shares my opinion and GOM is a profit organization and I hardly doubt she will come back since the community is heavily divided on her. But hey, I guess we can have a Justin Bieber of StarCraft. The hate seems to generate most of the money for the company that has him.
But I feel sorry for female figures in gaming due to massive sexism...random pics use to have so many images to prove this until the mods began cracking down on them. And what pisses me off the most is when people reply with "White Knighting." Talk about assholery and immaturity on a whole new level.
But I have never seen so much massive hate about a commentator before. Look at all the commentators we have streaming TL tournaments. I do not think we have seen threads talking about GLHF, ICCUP, or RageQuit commentaries. I personally think there is a double standard involved.
And more more thing fanboys and anti-fans. The thing you love or hate is not as good or bad as you think it is.

People like you made her leave/get fired (whatever happened). This community has been absolute garbage to her. I honestly feel sorry for Kelly. I agree ppl including this ahole have been over the top mean to her and Im glad to see that GOM statement that she wasnt fired/quit it was just a tryout, but in all honesty I stopped watching code A because of her accent. idk what it is but my ears just dont like it and its not like if its not an american I cant listen to them because I loved TLO's casting its just kelly's accent that for whatever reason gets to me, I know tyler said something similar on sotg when they discussed her.

LOL.
Yeah that right, everyone got upset because she's asian and female.. victimisation FTL.

I still have hope that maybe TorcH, moletrap, or even seltzer could try out for casting Though, I really don't know how can provide colour commentary at this point...Doa and TorcH would actually be pretty bad.
Edit:
I also want to point out that when people make sweeping generalizations about "westerners" hating on her for no reason it's usually wrong. I agree with the sentiment that she is being paid for an English speaking position where at the very least being intelligible to the widest possible audience is the primary requirement, you will not have someone with an accent on the national news because why should people have to make an effort to understand, this is not discrimination in the least.
I guess prime examples would be most people have absolutely no problem with TLO and especially Khaldor casting in English because even though they are German, they are very clear, heck I don't think anybody complained at all during Dreamhack or Assembly when you have casters ALL with distinct accents - however many Asian accents are often way more difficult because it garbles consonants much heavier.
A quick example of a female caster with an accent who hasn't gotten (as much) flack, is: http://day9tv.blip.tv/file/4859569/ of Soe doing a guest cast with day9.

here we go again...
on topic: As sorry as I am for her, but being a native english speaker or having near accent-free english is a requirement for a professional caster. She's not a bad caster, but casting the world's biggest starcraft tournament on a regular basis - that's a litte too much for her. Of course it's "mean" to complain about her and eventually get her fired, but tbh, she should not have gotten the job in the first place. Yeah, you could understand her if you really wanted to and she has the game knowledge, but it was not optimal. That being said, I sincerely wish her the best of luck in the future.

That is really sad. I enjoyed her...but I know a lot of people did not. Too bad we all could have not been more encouraging....
|
oh cmon "because of my accent and i am female"..as if any male with such accent wouldve ever gotten anywhere near that kind of job.
User was temp banned for this post.

i for one am not sad about this..
i think doa has been doing a great job so far.. hoping he lands the permanent gig. does anyone know whether there's one or two spots open for the permanent Code A casting job?
|
You can't "fire" someone you didn't really "hire". Junkka's said it a thousand times but whatever.
Never had a problem with her personally, but I will say I have had no motivation to watch any of Code A lately because the casting doesn't rope me in. It's not a personal problem with any individual caster or combo, I just don't *WANT* to watch it like I *WANT* to watch Tasteless and Artosis. Chemistry is important, and there's more to good casting than just play-by-play. Eventually they'll hit a combo that works really well and has that same "magic".
The community was a bit harsh, but I feel they were just expressing a general opinion in a really negative way: "we can't understand her that well, and we feel it detracts from the viewing experience." Such is life with the internet ><

Aw, I quite liked her. Just took a few days to get over her accent and then I found her quite good.

Not enough research done by the OP. Perhaps going to, I don't know, Gom, would be a good idea before announcing she is fired. With the massive critisizm she has recieved, both constructive and of troll quality, it seems like a reasonable move to make by Gom. They are gonna follow the public perception of their casters, duh..
Too bad for Kelly, I don't think shes gonna make the cut.

This is the best news I have heard since the NASL. Would any of you guys ever want to hear Dikembe Mutombo do a play-by-play for a NBA game cause he was working hard and has passion for the game?
Btw I know a lot of you nerds dont watch any sports. This shit happens all the time in sports talk radio. People calling in talk radio to get a coach or a player fired. You nerds would call this trolling. In real life its called expressing your opinion no matter how harrash or offesive it is.

Read the GLHF thread and the assembly threads, people were raging all over Mavens and Martjins casting constantly (especially Mavens). While the Kelly-hating might have been extreme it's not the only time the community has raged at a person/organization/tournament.

This in a sense is true. This is the final procedure for selecting casters for Code A. We need to test them out in actual matches and see the reaction. We plan to try out few more casters over next few seasons. So if one caster stops showing up after a season it does not mean he or she is fired. It just means it's next candidate's turn for the try out. I know from my experience that everytime we make some changes people freak out but without changes there can be no improvement. yea that really does need to be added to the Op

Kelly was a nice change of pace. Half the world is filled with women gents. It would have been nice to have them represented in the GSL Foreigner cast. And for the record I didn't have any problem understanding her English.

I wasn't a fan of her casting but I do feel sorry for her.
|
I wish people would stop turning these news posts into bash threads-- Especially making claims she was fired. That doesn't even make sense.

GOM does a good job.... they tried something, but rather than be stubborn about it and trying to fight the mob... they just made a change.
This plus the IEM champ to up/down matches show they are refining they're product and trying to get better.
