I really liked the personality that she contributed, but her game knowledge was really shaky, and her accent was somewhat of a deal breaker to a lot of people. The GSL is a really big tournament with a lot of money and prestige going into it. Sure, Kelly is a good caster, but the GSL calls for more than just good. They should be truly excellent casters all around.

GOM as well as the casters have already said that they're rotating in a bunch of code A casters as a sort of "try out" The complaining/bitching had nothing to do with this, she's not getting fired, this was her tryout, and GOM will evaluate which 2 casters they want to keep after they try out several more casters.

Is the accent what people generally have problems with? I was more annoyed by the complete lack of Starcraft 2-knowledge. Sexism and racism has nothing to do with anything.

I honestly feel sorry for Kelly. Why is he an asshole? In his opinion (and the opinion of a lot of other people) she just wasnt cut to be a caster, because of her flaws (accent). If you're not capable of doing your job good enough your contract isnt extended (I dont say that she didnt do her job good enough, that's surely a topic for discussion). It's normal life. Why should "esports" be different? Also regarding the "cycling of casters" it isnt even sure that she got fired or if GOM planned to extend her contract in the first place.

Now e-sports is a Singapore-free environment! Way to go. That is ridiculous, sure there were those who took their complaints and voiced their opinions in a fashion that was unprofessional and distasteful. However, the truth is the truth, many people could not understand her accent or could not tolerate her accent. It was probably nails on the chalkboard for some people and that is simply the truth, no beating around the bush. Am I glad she's leaving, a small part of me is, not because I hated her, but because her accent was a little hard to understand. Will I miss her, probably yes as well, she's a great caster when it comes to her enthusiasm and energy and her chemistry was fantastic.

Okay, but some of the calls that were made against her by users on TL/reddit/etc were incredibly rude/racist/misogynistic that were defintely not characteristic of the TL/sc community.

Why are you trying to make us feel some kind of guilt just because she wouldn't get a renewed contract? I for one am really glad to hear about this, it's nice to see that GOM actually cares about the feedback they get. Because what half the people did wasnt complaining. Posting once that you dont like Kelly casting is one thing. Posting in every TL thread about GSL about how you have to mute the stream because of how horrible she is is different. Personally i couldnt care less about the caster, I watch a lot of BW and I cant even understand what theyre saying and that doesnt change my enjoyment of the game.

I don't think she had great insight. I don't really feel guilty either. In the end, it's an entertainment product that I have purchased and glad I'll be able to continue supporting it because I truly do enjoy the GSL. The only thing I haven't enjoyed in the 5 seasons I've purchased is Kelly and the poor Marine King finals.

Quoting John the Translator's interview: Some people have claimed we are running a 'beta' test for casters in Code A. This in a sense is true. This is the final procedure for selecting casters for Code A. We need to test them out in actual matches and see the reaction. We plan to try out few more casters over next few seasons. So if one caster stops showing up after a season it does not mean he or she is fired. It just means it's next candidate's turn for the try out. I know from my experience that everytime we make some changes people freak out but without changes there can be no improvement.
