Pro-tip: Use line breaks. Pro-tip #2: Use the search function.
On topic: BW will love forever. In that sense, it has not outlived its lifespan. Its balance is impeccable and its gameplay is exciting. Its UI is dated, true, but until the SC2 metagame has evolved so that top-level games of SC2 are as competitive and thrilling as BW games, BW will still be the better eSport.
Edit: After looking at your post history, it seems you are either a terribly disguised troll intent on baiting flames... or you're just a slow learner. I recommend you read some of the top-rated blogs before you make any more!

BW has certainly outlived the expected lifespan of any mere mortal game. At this point, however, BW is an immortal, a God, and will not go quietly into the night. It will remain radiant and awe-inspiring so long as there remain men on Earth who believe in it.

No. Why? People still like BroodWar. That simple.

I think I have a new quote. Edit: I don't have room to quote you is this ok?

but if you think of BW as something timeless, like chess, then no.
I'm with the latter, you're with the former. I said this before on a different thread, but you have some of the best posts on teamliquid. Please continue what your doing. I'd like to second this.
I was reading through that "GSL Popularity" thread and I absolutely loved every single one of your reply. I was even gonna suggest to TL mods to have your replies in that thread spotlighted! That reply about a tournament you held in a Korean school was absolutely beautiful.

I still play BW. Not as much, but it's a good macro/micro practice.

As a Star Craft 2 player, I can honestly say that watching pro matches is boring in comparison to Brood War matches. Maybe in our expansions it'll be more fun to watch?

People still compare SC2 to BW. Think about that for a minute. If the game has outlived its "lifespan", why are we still comparing the two? Nostalgia? I beg to differ, and I'm pretty sure you already know the answer.

Lifespan? What lifespan? What's the lifespan of football? When will NFL disappear? World Cup? If there were such thing as lifespan of BW, I doubt we're anywhere near it.

I do understand what you are saying, and I'm not trying to argue, even though I know this is, but there is no sequel to football, or the NFL, World Cup, etc. I'm talking about things that have sequels or successors that will eventually take them over

I see sc2 as I do AoE, Halo, or any other of the modern popular, casual games. They become really popular for a while, then after a year or two everybody moves on to the next big thing.
Broodwar, on the other hand, has already shown its timelessness. It doesn't need flashy visuals to be popular - same as football, soccer, hockey, and every major sport out there. Of course its still a videogame so we still don't know for sure if it will die out, but I think it is basically guaranteed to outlive starcraft 2.
edit: reply to above post- sc2 just has the same name as broodwar, they are very different and by no means is it broodwar's spiritual successor

So, with the same logic, I could tell people to stop playing Chrono Trigger, one of the most well-rounded, amazing RPGs ever. And now they have to all play Final Fantasy 13. Come on! Everyone has to make the switch eventually. FF13 has better graphics, so it's better! It's new and you have to play it! Nevermind the fact that I can still pick up Chrono Trigger today, play through it a 50th time, and be blown away by how awesome it is. Whoa, now, that's a low-blow. SC2 is waaaaaaay better than FF13 in comparison with their predecessors.

And then you get days like yesterday, where you get 5 of them, and 2 games that are imo Game of the Year quality).
Whether it lives, though, is ultimately up to its viewers.
Yes, the Modesty vs Kal series is a very good example of a recent quality match in BW. I have been watching both BW and SC2, but strangely enough, BW has managed to entertain me just like before while SC2 on the other hand is not as compelling to watch anymore.
The OP is flawed, you should know that. You cannot 'force' people to switch over entirely to SC2; to me, BW and SC2 are two entirely different games. Like one previous poster said, BW is a timeless game (to the true fans like us).
And as long as such fans exist, both in Korea and internationally, BW will live on. That is the simple gist of it, and the beauty of this game is such that it is universally accessible to everyone. =3

But the fact of the matter is, it's a very different game. So there is really no reason to believe that SC2 has to overtake BW.

There is a very simple answer.
No.

You are basically asking why people haven't gotten bored of football yet, they've been playing the same game for the past 80 years. The interesting part of the game is that new techniques and skills are still being developed. In football it used to be 3 yards and a cloud of dust, now there is the spread offense. In the same way, the styles switch in BW. It's the same game, but people won't get bored with it.
Edit: It seems I was beaten to the punch with the analogy :D I guess that's what I get for skipping posts then putting out an opinion

NEEEEVVVVVVEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!!!!
As long as I think that watching D+ players playing BW is better than watching the pros play SC2.....then BW has yet to die.
