However, i've started avoiding most forums(went from frequenting 8 down to 2, <3 TL) like the plague because of how terrible they are. Blizzard forums included.

The fact that they haven't listened to the woes and cries over simple privacy settings makes me feel like they just want to do what they want to do. I try to be as friendly as possible but giving out my real name information is not what I want to do when I need help on the Blizz forums. (especially if employers are searching for your name... chances are that stuff will come up almost immediately... I don't want that..) As long as the option to hide my real name information exists I am happy. According to the real ID page it states that it's completely voluntary and optional ==> http://us.battle.net/realid/?rhtml=y

unless they made a typo, it's the other way around now. your real ID shows and your handle is optional

this means that if a possible employer googles my name he will see what an avid poster i am and stuff, this is completely bollocks. we already know that ppl check up on ppls facebook accounts for info on them, i dont want my gaming habits to be available to whomever pleases.

If I wanted people to know my real name online I would tell them. I can't even begin to wrap my mind around how stupid that is. I'm so dumbfounded by that I can't even collect a ration thought in my head. How can they think it is ok to give out peoples real names on a forum. I guess lucky for me, I have never been able to log into the BNet forums... I always get a login error, so I never post there anyway. Luckily I found the TL community, and found out that it has 95% less idiocy than the BNet Forums. I just hope using the real names over there doesn't end up causing a bunch of the spammers etc. from BNet to migrate here.

Then again, maybe I'm the only person that feels like conversations on online forums are worse than conversations in real life.

On a second note, there should be an arena thread where terrible players who think they know what they are talking about because they are "#1 platinum" can bo5 people who actually play the game well. The losers name should be added to a list so people will know to take their posts with a grain of salt.
