I Don't think it'll "eliminate" trolls, but I do believe the Official Blizzard forum will be much more mature. I Don't mind posting with my Real ID, I'm not the type of person to put much on the interweb.

I support their decision really, and I like the fact that even blizzard employees will use their real ID.

So I Voted Yes, If I have to bring something up to Blizzard on their official forum, I will gladly do it using my Real ID.
I Am pretty confident it's gonna help a lot the Forums.

This is the problem.

Stop bitching about being forced to associate with your own pile of shit and start posting intelligent stuff that you are not afraid to associate with.

i'm more concerned if they still require you to give your emails out to everyone on bnet to be friends with them

for most people, a first and last name isn't enough to give your identity out. but a lot of people do not want their emails susceptible to spam/harassment etc

So Blizzard has decided that first and last name is enough to "uniquely" identify somebody.

Gee, sorry John Smith. Your name has already been taken.

It stops smurf trolling and stuff like that, and makes people feel a little more accountable to their posting habits, but I don't like it either. Web forums are mostly anonymous for a reason. This seems like a privacy breach to me. I hope they decide to go back on this or provide a way to turn your name off in the settings. I think this will be a disastrous change for Blizzard.

Though, I do like the new post rating system. That's helpful.

This is going to work until a Blizzard Moderator gets a death threat. Than they're realize how stupid it is to put real names on the internet.

I wouldn't care if my name was John Smith or something, but if you google my name, my facebook is literally the first result. Definately won't be using the official forums once this comes in.

Haha, yeah, pretty much what I was thinking.

I hope you all enjoy getting your taste of what it's like to live in Korea. God knows you've been praying for it.

I just want to know, have the people in charge of all these changes, including Bnet 2.0, played a single video game in their lives?

That's really important for me to know.

Wow. Apparently Blizz missed the point about the internet where everyone welcomes the anonymity. Hopefully this decision doesnt drive all of those "posters" here to TL.

don't mind it tbh.
The b.net forums are 99% trolls/spammers and 1% people that have serious suggestions and questions. Don't post there if you don't like the new "rules"... I'd bet that the majority of the TL members don't use those forums because of their current state.
It's just my opinion, but blizzards b.net forums should be for technical advice, serious feedback, maybe some guides or links to community sites and not for "Yo Mommaship" and the 100th omfglol Marauders are f**** imba thread.

Am I the only one who thinks this is fantastic? I know people love to flame forums, might be a little worse to do if you are actually accountable for what you say.

Then again, maybe I'm the only person that feels like conversations on online forums are worse than conversations in real life.

Completely agree with you that this is fantastic.

I think it's hilarious to see how many people are posting here about how awful it's going to be and how they're worried about potential employer's could see what they're up to.

Take some accountability for the things you're doing. If you're really doing something you're so ashamed and frightened of people finding out about that you don't feel comfortable putting your "real" name to it, should you really be doing it?

Man up and take some pride in the things you do or re-evaluate your life...

Problem is, you can't take responsibility for other people's actions.

What if your potential employer thinks video games are a waste of time and the sign of an idle lifestyle? Then they go and do a search for your name online and see you've made 200+ posts on two video game forums SC2/WoW/Diablo/whatever and think "Oh, this is not the employee for me - I'm going to stick with this other applicant."

Or what if some belligerent person holds a grudge over something you've said, having totally misinterpreted your intent, and decides to track you down. Seems like a stretch, but it's happened... this makes it easier.

I understand what you're saying about accountability, and yes, some forums are a nightmare due to a lack of it; but this change to b.net does not seem like the best solution - especially given the fact that we've been warned since the inception of public internet: "Do not give out personal information."

Now everyone with a B.net account already in their name doesn't have a choice (unless there's an option to go back and change it that I don't know about.)

I bet there are several governments which have laws against this kind of stuff for protection of privacy. Its either illegal and should not be implemented OR going to make everyone create fake identities.

May I suggest we all make a fake ID with the "real name" of Robert Kotick?
If you cant say what you're meaning, you can never mean what you're saying.
