I'm sorry but In Flames are absolutely fucking horrible today. Terribad
check out my shit: all songs metal, (get me out of here is a little punky / mainstream and something different is a weird atmospheric instrumental, not really metal).
Some slightly different metal (not that different) added to this thread to see how many people rage. I do like these songs, I've just found random songs. I couldn't find one of the songs I wanted so there's a placeholder.
I adore progressive metal (tech/extreme mostly). Here are some of the bands that have not been posted yet (please try to listen at least some of the bands, you will not be disappointed) :
Canvas Solaris - absolutely astonishing band with the talent of members in rang of Dream Theater. The drummer and guitar player are insanely good! The band is full instrumental.
Spheric Universe Experience - similar to Canvas Solaris, but with a vocal work here and there
Quantum Fantay - another mostly instrumental band. They are a little bit different than the above and sometimes are defined as space prog
God Is An Astronaut - instrumental band anyone can like.
Mindflow - great progressive band from Brazil, very skilled with instruments
Lanfear - progressive band from Germany
Riverside - progressive band from Poland
Myrath - awesome band from Tunisia
Andromeda - good musicians and extremely good singer, especially live
Firewind power/melodic progressive band, they stand out with great riffs
Here's some of the stuff I've been listening to recently.
Jari Mäenpää is fucking amazing!
If you're into folk-metal
Ettore Rigotti is also a badass, he writes, produces, does some of the vocal work, and plays all the instruments for his band. Really talented guy!
Yes, Moonsorrow is so epic their songs take 2 uploads to Youtube! A Finnish band that considers themselves "epic heathen metal" and draws lyrical content from Finnish mythology, legends, and poetry. Most of their songs average from 8-15 minutes normally, to some that are a staggering 30 minutes long (one of their albums is just 2 songs both 30+ mins lol)!
Katatonia is a great band if you're into more mellow-metal.
