Kind of sad that they feel the need to get out the begging bowl like this when Scan/Nyoken have already stepped up to the plate to fill the English gap, but I guess this will show just what parts of the community are interested in the game, and what parts of the community are only interested in the casters - and if the latter, why aren't people just subscribing to their Twitch or donating directly? Would just be a huge shame if this splinters things, but given how incredibly resistant some people are to change I guess this is an inevitable risk

I think this is a really weird take, I find it inspiring and great that they can show that there is a market for english casting like this.
Your comment about it showing what the community is interested in is pretty narrowminded.
The AfreecaTV app sucks so bad and the website video barely even works on my tablet, so I am very happy that I can watch it on youtube instead.
I don't know how Scan and Nyoken is as casters, I am probably gonna check them out as well.
But I also wanna support Tastosis for the work they put in and to show Afreeca that there is a market and hopefully get the 2 of them back in the studio eventually.
Already halfway there to their goal. They're probably going to smash it.
Can't say I'll watch the youtube vods though, from what I understand those would be quite far apart from the live-cast and that's a bit of a deal-breaker for me.

at least it means the scan/nyoken stream will only have the ubermensch of the bw community, upstanding members such as yourself
the tastosis vods will serve as a lightening rod for us plebs that you hate so much anyway

I'm a bit in between on this topic. And I'll try to explain why.
1st - its great that tasteless and artosis are casting ASL. They are popular and many people like them.
But on 2nd thought what really annoys is me that Artosis tried to make it sound like they need money to pay afreeca for the stream... while in the official Afreeca announcement we can clearly read:
"Communities and English casters are still allowed, and encouraged, to broadcast the ASL to their own fans through our clean feed on their AfreecaTV Channels."
"Communities and English casters are still allowed, and encouraged, to broadcast the ASL to their own fans through our clean feed on their AfreecaTV Channels."
This whole thing really bugs me.
Artosis and Tasteless are Twitch partners so there is some issues there, I am not sure how that works.
The Afreeca thing is only for streaming on Afreeca, and Tastosis knows they won't reach a broader audience if they do it on Afreeca.

There'd also be 0% incentive for afreeca to ever again pay them for their cast if they do it for free on their platform anyway.

If they are twitch partners I assume they are not allowed to broadcast on Afreeca under their own channel (casting for the someone else like Afreeca obv doesn't count)
This is really great news! I have almost given up as the time was closing in on us. I was hoping for a live cast, bit sad it's not possible. But you have to start somewhere, became a patreon as promised of course. Let's hope in time this whole thing will grow and maybe in the future we will be able to see Tastosis cast ASL live on twitch/youtube. Thank you everyone involved behind the results! Good luck with the work!

Nothing about this is irrational, but it still feels pretty bad.
I'm guessing if Dan/Nick both start making a bunch of money from this Afreeca will happily take over again and take the money themselves, but until it's been proven it'll make them anything they won't bother.
It's not ideal but if the best is impossible then this is the best.
I hope they can upload the VODs as soon as the live events end. Not everyone can catch live broadcast due to time zone, works, etc. so they can still see the VODs and have a similar experience I suppose. In addition, it's nice to add ASL11 cast by Tastosis to the ASL library that already exists on YouTube. I'm sure many of us have saved that playlist and visit the old games all the time for entertainment.
Tbh I think the Scan Nyoken cast is more analytical than Tastosis, but the latter is more entertaining (that's not to say at all that Tastosis cast is not in-depth in knowledge) so we even have options here people!!
Now where's my wallet.
Btw I think I will make a donation for the Scan Nyoken cast as well to support them. I suppose we'll be able to do that once their Afreeca stream goes up?
If Tastosis are to VODcast I hope they are able to do so unspoilered, you lose a bit of magic when the commentators aren’t as blind to events as you are.
