I think there's a reason why they said it's not coming out for a very long time. I'm not impressed either, but i can't imagine Blizz chilin for a couple of years and then release the same game we see today.
They are far enough into development to have chosen a style of play that they want. It looks like a hybrid of D2 skill tree, D3 limitations of true specialization, and the combat pace of an MMO. I really do not see them diverging from this.
Who said that? Because on all the panels I've watched and articles I've read, they said they don't even have a release window yet and the release won't even be "Blizzard Soon". So if you're thinking this game will be coming out next year, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed.
tbh i'm surprised there's such a negative tone in here what we've gotten from them is quite vague so far, sure, but i love the direction they're saying they're going for and what they've shown seems to be going that exact way

That gameplay trailer didn't seem very open world to me, also I would imagine they have dev kits for next gen consoles for this game so I expect much better world environments.

I'm pretty sure Xbox and PS4 are just placeholder names, because we don't know the new console names yet.

The market for xbox one and ps4 is still going to be huge even if the new one releases. It will take a few years for the new model to catch up number wise. Makes a lot of sense to sell it on the older models too.

Why? The people who made the great games that you know have long left or _were_ left the company. It's now a revolving door and crunchtime hell, shooting darts at a board and see what sticks. But all the darts fell down so now they scrambling to rehash all the old content. What theyve shown does look nice, but im just not optimistic that they can make a satisfying gameplay loop.
The gameplay and art look great. I like their ideas/early plans for trading, dmg scaling, open world, item drops, and end game. I also like that David Kim is working on system design. Definitely looks like a game I would love to play.
Also, druid looking more buff than barbarian is pretty off-putting for me... On another note, I'd really like if they did a normal fighter instead of barbarian. We've had barbarians in D2 and D3, I'd like some classes from D1 to make a return.
They probably made the druid more buff, so the bear transformation animations blend smoothly and don't look too odd. It's easy to tweak D2's pre-rendered animations to blend just right, but morphing two 3D models perfectly in real-time, especially when their proportions vary substantially, is a tedious and time consuming task. You don't wanna tweak animations at an early alpha stage for that very reason. So I think it's safe to assume, they simply made the druid bigger for the demo, since he didn't look too buff (imo) in most of the concept art shown at the art panel.
my man david kim is killing it in diablo 4! now we all know wut the hell he s been doing after legacy of the void ;o i hope he will come back to blizz s RTS team soon
I don't think it will be released aroun 2020~2021. They might need more time to develop the game including graphics and systems. I assume it will be around 2022 or even later.
Can't get excited. Sadly. Gameplay looked slow, world events that require a group, meeting people in open world (possibly meaning that I'm playing a diablo game that has me waiting for respawn?). We have seen neither a shield nor a bow class yet and I doubt they would leave those archetypes out. So to follow that biblical theme we'll have something like pala/crusader/cleric (lore could possibly say that the order or paladins, crusaders whatever is down to two people, they're rebuilding, coming in an expansion?) and as the fifth class ama/demon hunter/ranger. - leaving us with the druid and 4 classes that we could play for years. Can only imagine that they integrate the trap part of the assassin into the ranged class as a different skill path. Traps weren't big in d3 so that could feel "new" in sanctuary.
In the end everything screamed: ok you guys like poe so we do poe but we'll have an open world. most likely they have no idea where they want to go and "not even blizzard soon" sounds like 2022 or later.
mounts scare me because in this genre i want to kill stuff nonstop and mounts say: ride 5 minutes, clear something in 30 sec, ride somewhere else etc

You can feel the tension in that presentation. Then there is the prepared questions.
Still no answer to what extent character customization will be when starting a character, it is almost 2020 ffs. Also Blizzard is completely ignoring why D2 ignored itemization...? This won't be good.
