well if you are a professional you gotta do stuff you know like not booking this trip. i understand his position but it's also not esl's task to please him anyway great news that they found a cool venue! would be of course sad if kane had to forfeit I agree. If you consider this your "job" then man up and treat it like your job. People have to make arrangements for work all of the time. For a global event, 1 month is still incredibly short notice. Kane has a point, the could've at least released the schedule in advance or the planned timespan. Anything to help out with scheduling. Or, don't plan months in advance if your job requires you to be flexible. f you can't be flexible, don't take such job. It's quite easy. Sounds a bit harsh, but it's true nonetheless.... Sure it is, but there's still the fact that blizzards handling of the entire first season has been really bad, and players have been begging for any details for months already. If you're gonna hold Kane to that standard you sure as hell have to hold WCS organisers to that standard as well, even more so I Agree with the fact that it's been horrible, Aeromi is at day 134 or something? I think it is really unprofessional of Blizzard to do this so late. However Kane is one of the "lucky few" who has a chance to freely roam the world with even earning money and doing gaming as his job. So he shouldn't be whining, yet accepting the fact that it's a possibility. Take Rotterdam for example; If he has to travel suddenly to zimbabwe 2 days in advance to cast some sc2 between a goat and a sheep, he would do it without complaining. Same would go for most of ESL's employees.. Why? Because their job requires to be flexible and they know it. I don't have anything Kane, but he should realize the position he's in. What position? He can forfeit his spot in the tournament at any time and show the organisers what a bunch of shit this was. ESL employees wouldn't have a choice.
They can do litterally anything. It is Blizzard their tournament. Sanctioning, Banning, Restricting, they can do everything (I haven't read the full WCS handbook, but I assume there's a clause for Blizzard to change anything whenever).

From a PR standpoint, 2015 WCS has been for the most part negative on Blizzard/ESL. People saying that players need to be flexible need to realize that planning a huge event like this, especially one tht only spans 2-3 days, should most definitely NOT be announced a month in advance. Scheduling things in advance allow people to be more flexible and make the sacrifices, but forcing people to make gambles and then get screwed out of money because of unprofessional planning is not fair.
WCS needs to improve on this going foward. It is terrible for all parties involved.

WCS needs to improve on this going foward. It is terrible for all parties involved. As I said, they should have scheduled the Ro16 groups to be in March and then done the 3 day event in April in a studio instead of trying to glorify this event so they could actually get a schedule out in a timely fashion.

So weird that the continuous competition of WCS last year now has a >month break with nothing happening.
With all the SH users we could very well see more 8-9 hr days. What worries me more is the last day when they'll have 7 matches, 6 of which will be best of 5s and a grand final best of 7. You're looking at potentially a 11-13 hour day. The last time a SC2 event went that long was IPL 4/5 and as someone who attended both I was near comatose at the end

I know things like "You are a progamer u have to consider this type of things!11!!11!!". But hotels, planes and booking don't care about ESL/Blizzard mistakes

After I heard from RedEye "WCS happens in my living room", I was somewhat hoping that was a reference to TakeTV new House.

Isn't it Blizzard job to provide hotels & planes ?

Blizzard pays for the hotels and planes, so it should be in their own interest to lower those costs. Booking is still easily possible within a month's notice. But yeah.... Blizzard should really stop screwing around, it's horrendous. All parties are screwed. The players for once have the opportunity to be the professional ones, take the chance and use it in the future, don't lower yourselves to the unprofessional behavior of Blizzard.

Kane is such a whiny bitch.
|
If this would involve a player you all hated, this thread would be sooooo different. All comments would be like "his own fault he is a progamer making a living out of playing video games" etc etc.
But now when its Kane, holy hell do people act different. Playing SC2 is Kane's job no matter how you look at it, he is making a living playing this game. Now does it sucks that he has a family trip a week before WCS finals is, i bet it does. But its not Blizzard/ESL's job to plan events according to when all players can or can not play.

If anything, I'd say the opposite... Kane is FAR from a fan favorite, I'd go as far as to say he's pretty widely disliked by the community. If it was someone like TLO there would be outrage.
