Kane is such a whiny bitch. I wouldn't say that. I'd be furious too.
Come on, you have 1 month to book up the flight which, by the way, Blizzard will pay.
Did Kane have an important job, or a family that he should attend to? No, he is a child with no responsibilities and a full-time progamer. So, what's with the complains? The answer is that Kane is a whiny, spoiled child that can't endure things that escape his little sphere of control. Proof of this is the episode with Naniwa: like the folk say, Kane threw the stone and then he hid the hand.

wtf
sources?

ITT: People whine about Kane being "too whiny"
Also, progamer personal lives don't real and they are obligated to do whatever Blizzard asks (because progamers are Blizzard's employees, that's how it works, right?)

They thought they could fix everything by putting it in Paris to appease Aeromi, instead they screw over players like Kane

But now when its Kane, holy hell do people act different. Playing SC2 is Kane's job no matter how you look at it, he is making a living playing this game. Now does it sucks that he has a family trip a week before WCS finals is, i bet it does. But its not Blizzard/ESL's job to plan events according to when all players can or can not play.
If anything, I'd say the opposite... Kane is FAR from a fan favorite, I'd go as far as to say he's pretty widely disliked by the community. If it was someone like TLO there would be outrage.
TLO acts like a professional. Maybe TLO did also have plans he made 5 years ago, yet will cancel them, be bummed about it, talk crap about Blizzard to friends. He will not however, act out publicly at Blizzard, when all the sponsors might be watching. People lose their jobs for stuff like this..

people lose their jobs for saying they have a vacation planned? What kind of industry do you work in?

didnt he lash out at them in a interview recently where he said he was ashamed of not being able to tell the reporters where the finals for the season were being held?

hehe no, but IF he cancels his tournament a.k.a. most important tournament of his life, it might be. Getting a deadline a month in advance for the most important task of your career and then saying you won't be able to make it, because you've had a trip planned for 3 months, is in many industries a career killer.
edit; lol at these 2 ^, if you really want to know that badly, it's not that hard to find me...

As far as I know you don't have any qualification that makes you legitimate for saying such things, and at least he's in the position of whining about Blizz by virtue of his skills while you are just being a random internet jerk, so please show some respect.

It's not just the players. I wanted to attend the finals, but I've already made plans for the Easter weekend. Also plane tickets are quite expensive now. If I knew where it would be one month ago, things could have been different. I really hope we get to learn the venue for season two at least two months in advance, so I can arrange the trip properly. Anyway not a big deal.
|
Holy shit people are being unfair to Kane. Why are we expecting him to accurately predict the date of the WCS finals and schedule family shit around it when we should expect Blizzard/ESL to have these kinds of things announced way further in advance so players actually can take a vacation and have lives outside of waiting for dates to be released a month in advance

welcome IRL Kane :S I am not suprised by this situation. Dont you remember all the trouble with forgg and puck ? family or job ? i hope kane'll make the right choice and i'll happily cheer for him in season 1 AND 2

haha just having just some fun, though that chile and sweden guy earlier seem to be spitting at their monitors.
Using your analogy, if its a deadline, he can still work hard and finish the project in time. He can't practice or work his way out of a set venue time.

Don't understand why people act so entitled about it. Reminds me of that med student who had to choose between playing and school. Grow up and deal with it. Yeah, the irresponsibility is definitely at the hands of Kane who has to make a decision between a long time commitment or a last minute decision. Stupid Kane making commitments when you know your job is full of surprise announcements. You should know that a happy life outside of eSports is not possible while your pursuing your DREAMS.
On a serious note though, would be nice if Blizzard would plan these things ahead of time instead of saying that WCS ends "2015". I have hotels booked for 2 trips this year because I'm smart and make plans and enjoy myself. Life is busy and full of shit to do, so requesting off of work and finishing school work ahead of time and doing responsible adult shit is necessary. I can't imagine if my workplace just said "oh by the way, now that you've made your plans and booked your tickets, we've come up with a special assignment for you and you can't go". That's the kind of job you quit due to the lack of respect/responsiblity shown by the employer (unless they pay you a fuck ton of money and it's worth it). eSports is also a job, be it part time or full time, for a ton of people. Half assing or accidentally doing a poor job on your duties is deserving of criticism.
From a fan's perspective, looking forward to this event in April! Woooo!

Blizzard/ESL could certainly have done a better job with scheduling the finals, but that doesn't mean they owe Kane, or any of the players, anything, as someone pointed out earlier.
If I were in Kane's position, I'd be just as pissed... but that doesn't mean I would be correct or that Blizzard owed me anything beyond the opportunity to make thousands of dollars competing in a video game. I mean, the reality is that Kane has to make a shitty choice and it's not his fault; who wouldn't be frustrated? I take Kane at his word when he says the vacation is important for personal reasons, and that just makes it worse.
Unfortunately, until we live in a perfect world, things like this happen. Blizzard/ESL are people that make mistakes too.
Did Blizzard or ESL do anything wrong in my opijnion? No way. Could they have done better? Absolutely. Hopefully all parties involved learn something from this and improve going into the future.

Progamers are supposed to be prophets and predict the date of an event that can be taking place at any date. They are also supposed to sacrifice their whole life, family and friends included, in order to participate in one tournament, because that's what makes them progamers. + Show Spoiler + Nah I agree with you. Actually seeing that many hostile reactions to Kane makes me sad.
