well if you are a professional you gotta do stuff you know like not booking this trip. i understand his position but it's also not esl's task to please him

anyway great news that they found a cool venue! would be of course sad if kane had to forfeit

I agree. If you consider this your "job" then man up and treat it like your job. People have to make arrangements for work all of the time.

For a global event, 1 month is still incredibly short notice. Kane has a point, the could've at least released the schedule in advance or the planned timespan. Anything to help out with scheduling.

Or, don't plan months in advance if your job requires you to be flexible.
f you can't be flexible, don't take such job. It's quite easy. Sounds a bit harsh, but it's true nonetheless....

Uh, usually major tournaments have their schedules announced months in advance, not a month. There isn't that much flexibility involved in a pro gamer's schedule really.

Is it me or does it seem kinda crazy to go Ro8 to Finals in one day?

It's like somebody said, players should know that there will be a big tourney around this time of year. It's his fucking job. What a whiner.

I dunno, WCS Finals is turning into a poor man's Blizzcon right now.

Also, what the fuck is with this "job" thing anyway. Nobody is paying the players any salary. Yes, they get money for winning but that's not even remotely sustainable and even if you get to Ro16 every time and stop there, you get a measly $9000 per year (which honestly is about as much as I get paid for a real job, but I live in an incredibly cheap country for European standards and in many places you won't even rent a room for that).

Sure it is, but there's still the fact that blizzards handling of the entire first season has been really bad, and players have been begging for any details for months already. If you're gonna hold Kane to that standard you sure as hell have to hold WCS organisers to that standard as well, even more so

Heh, I know....
So this makes the "problem" even less of a big thing... Ofcourse, it is annoying that the schedule got released, and yeah it sucks that it eventually falls into the same period he had planned something. But it is not something to get so whiny about.

Since this year and only one WCS vs. SSL and GSL, Blizzard admitted without saying that WCS is more for the entertainement than the level of play, so at least a one day event with a good crowd might do the trick...

He has as much of a right to be "whiny" about this as any other employee that's ever been forced to cancel their vacation for more work. Seriously, it's a normal ass reaction, why do people get so offended?

Maybe, but I'm not hyped about this at all tbh. GSL and SSL are both played in studios. Why wouldn't WCS be? Not to mention using a studio would have meant no scheduling issues and the dates could have been announced like last year.

i love the high school students in this thread, who think they know anything about a real job, commenting about this situation. ESL is at this point doing worse than the MLG WCS that was season one. How the hell do you not decide on finals location until the month before? What in the flying heck have the organizers been doing for the last few months...it should have been decided well before the season even started.

BlizzCon was awful from a twitch perspective, let alone the poor souls who paid to travel to it and experienced the constant interruptions...hopefully this doesn't top it. ESL europe dropping the ball again.

I hope they don't have to leave the expo at a certain time, as we learned group stages can take 7 hours each it might be some interesting days...

So weird that the continuous competition of WCS last year now has a >month break with nothing happening.

I Agree with the fact that it's been horrible, Aeromi is at day 134 or something?
I think it is really unprofessional of Blizzard to do this so late.
However Kane is one of the "lucky few" who has a chance to freely roam the world with even earning money and doing gaming as his job. So he shouldn't be whining, yet accepting the fact that it's a possibility.
Take Rotterdam for example; If he has to travel suddenly to zimbabwe 2 days in advance to cast some sc2 between a goat and a sheep, he would do it without complaining. Same would go for most of ESL's employees.. Why? Because their job requires to be flexible and they know it.

I don't have anything Kane, but he should realize the position he's in.

Today would have been Day 134

Also I would LOVE to see Rotterdam cast some goat vs sheep sc2 action. Let's get that funded please

What position? He can forfeit his spot in the tournament at any time and show the organisers what a bunch of shit this was. ESL employees wouldn't have a choice.

BTW what would happen if someone was to forfeit? Would the 3rd place from their group advance or the 3rd placed player with the best map score?

The fact that they scheduled the WCS Premier Ro16 Group Stage to be after IEM Katowice, SSL and GSL finish is bewildering to me. If they did the groups in March and Kane dropped out he wouldn't even have complain about this <.<
