Also why are people are becoming so defensive when people say this is about Religion? It clearly wasn't a case of typical workplace violence.... What was it about then? Because people seem to think acknowledging this attack had islamist motivation = blaming islam as a whole.
It's this lack of appetite to have a real conversation about the threat of radical islam and how to tackle it that is causing people to turn to the far right groups. And that's what the islamists want, they want to show that the world is against Islam, and therefore justify the extermination of kuffar as essential for the survival of muslims

FFS we don't even know for sure who these people were or why they did anything. We don't benefit in any way by leaping to the self confirmed conclusion this was obviously "Muslim Terrorists" angry about the cartoons.
I think it's fine to believe that's what it was but it's way to early to assert it as fact.
While it may be unlikely, for all we know this could be one of the hate groups looking to incite a race/religion war
This could be a group that realized how easy it was to tie an event to "Muslim Terrorists" and decided "what better way to get what we want than to frame Muslims for a terror attack?"
Perhaps some of the French people could contribute how likely, if they recovered the weapons, they would be to be able to trace where the weapons came from?
I guess the Boston bombing is the closest thing I as an American can imagine is going on with this man-hunt.

I won't lie, this is where the mantra of "don't go to stupid places with stupid people to do stupid things" is rather relevant. I wouldn't feel safe at one of those places

It's a counter mechanism. People see other people blaming religion, they have a problem with that, and so they react with a complete denial of any religious involvement.
There is a difference between acting in the name of religion and religion being guilty. There is also a difference between acting in the name of religion and acting with no religious motive whatsoever.
The only trouble is, you can't draw ideological conclusions from that, so you need to draw it to your side.

That does not change what he said. You're rather off base if you think the combined death tolls of China, Soviet, North Korea and Nazi Germany fall below the crusades.

I don't know a single Christian that believes everything that is written in the book. You would have to be quite stupid to do so, because it is obvious that most of the damn book is parables, and that it is contradictory. And I betcha that 99% of Muslims are smart enough to get that too.
But if you want to be as literal as those guys, well, fine. I'm sure you are more educated than them, so maybe just maybe, we can do better, which was what I was suggesting earlier.

To kill people for some drawings is disgusting. They were exercising their right to free speech and expression and regardless of whether you disagree with how appropriate it is, killing them and a police officer is absolutely not right no matter which religion you subscribe to. My condolences to everyone except to those gunmen who deserve only the harshest punishment possible in French law.
