How blind are you willing to be in the name of political correctness? And how blind are you not to see that two armed men do not represent the other millions of people who live normal lives? Are you saying that since some american shootings happened to have christian perpetrators christianity is bad as a whole? Or atheism, for what I care? These people are murderers and their religion doesn't matter. I'm really beginning to be confused how you guys don't get what I'm saying. If some american kids went to school and murdered some other kids because they drew pictures of jesus, then yeah I would also consider that a religiously motivated attack because, well, they killed in the name of religion. Of course it's a religiously motivated attack. They killed in name of a religion. Does it make that religion evil? No. If I am a sectarian monster and go make a carnage in the name of vegetarianism, it won't make vegetarianism evil or vegetarians evil. It will make my personal take on vegetarianism evil. Thing with religions is that you can make them say whatever you want. In the Quran, it is written that killing another human being is an unforgivable crime and a hundred pages later that you should kill non muslim people. You take from it whatever the fuck you want. And you decided to base your caricature of me on what? I mean now you're agreeing with me, then turning around to go on about some shit I didn't even talk about. If you are saying that those attack are religiously motivated but don't say anything about Islam per say, because it's a damn crazy interpretation of Islam that led to them, well, we perfectly agree and that's fine. I was just making sure we did.

Replace Religion with money and you've got the reason for many other killings. Replace Religion with oil and you've got another bunch. Replace Religion with anything and you've got killings.
People kill other people. Because of Religion, money, and power. Religion is simply not the only reason people kill other people - although it is still one of the bigger ones.

In the Quran, it is written that killing another human being is an unforgivable crime and a hundred pages later that you should kill non muslim people. You take from it whatever the fuck you want. you just showed how much of a non sense the three books are and reading non sense usually leads to stupid stuff Yeah if you believe that the book are a recipe that has to be followed step by step without thinking you are mistaking as badly as those guys. I don't know a single Christian that believes everything that is written in the book. You would have to be quite stupid to do so, because it is obvious that most of the damn book is parables, and that it is contradictory. And I betcha that 99% of Muslims are smart enough to get that too. But if you want to be as literal as those guys, well, fine. I'm sure you are more educated than them, so maybe just maybe, we can do better, which was what I was suggesting earlier.
im not saying you have to be literal lol im just saying what is written in there is quite stupid if you fail to see the difference between plato and the bible i can't really help you
and a nice chunk of americans are taking bible words as literal as they come

Water and bread. What are you taking when you think that religion is the cause of the attack and not fanaticism or hatred or lack of education or any of the other actual causes that led these men to kill those who ironically enough will become the "martyrs of free speech" from now on.
This is a tragedy in more than one sense and if you think that islam is to blame and not the killers then I'm afraid to share a country with you

All of the things you mentioned that could be other causes are part of the way religion is being used in many different countries.
Religion is much, much more than just the believe in a deity, or multiple.

Usually when these types of things happen, I get angry, because of the useless deaths... But this time around I'm angry, sad and also worried. Not for my personal security, I know better than that, but for the security of others. And at this point I don't see an effective way to tackle extremism, and I think it's sad that freedom of expression may be in effect compromised because people are scared of a minority of violent motherfuckers.

It doesn't matter what they are, only that people kill as much over it as over anything else.

If a average vegetarian was far more likely to kill another person in order to promote their feeding habits, than, say a average omnivore - it would imply there is something seriously wrong with vegetarianism.
