Theres a reason I decided to stop waking up for this split of EU because its just the same teams, little to no storylines, boring ass games and decided to just wake up in time for this split NA because its going to be more entertaining.
1.Either going to see TSM struggle or dominate and lol or facepalm. 2.How is LMQ going to do and how are the other teams going to match up? 3.The TSM-Crs Xpecial grudge games 4.Digcoast 5.How bad is Col going to be? 6.Most important of all. Balls vs Westrice just for the mere destruction of Westrice.
So, yeah, NA is looking to be more interesting and entertaining then EU.

I think I need to liven up this page with an obligatory TSM TSM TSM
In other news, Curse and LMQ need to do well also so that my fantasy points check in. A win against Soniv here could really allow me to avoid a song recording that I know will never go away :F

Can't wait to see LMQ stomping EG.

Arright CLG, it's time for you to make a case for why you deserve to go to Worlds. I'm expecting a 3-1 start to your split, you're allowed to drop your first game against C9 while you polish your Shinergy and achieve your potential.
Go CLG!

It's probably strongest NA region in 3 years, if we're not touching S1 where only NA and EU basically existed.
But anyway, let's go with bunch of predictions.
C9 CLG and TSM LMQ Dignitas Curse, EG and coL.
If Curse don't perform early in the split, i don't see them even going out of relegations. EG is probably strongest from bottom-3 teams right now, especially while Xpecial is adapting and if they get Altec, i can see EG edging either Curse or Dignitas if they flop in fighting for playoffs. compLexity is dead meat, i won't be surprised to see them being worse than Velocity but we'll see.
C9 are undisputable top-1. Will they go again 24+ wins? Will they shut-out playoffs? Only questions i see. CLG fixed their only "problem" - got more mechanics on toplane. Rush Hour will perform, Link got international experience and dexter is still same. LET'S GO, IT'S OUR BEST CHANCE AND TEAM IN A YEARS. #InCLGSeason4IBelieve.
CLG CLG CLG
Ok, sorry. TSM are probably on par with CLG, they have biggest pool of raw talent in NA. Will it work? How fast will it work? Many questions but remember, how did WT perform in his first game in LCS :D
I'm not sold on LMQ at all, first week will probably show how good can they use their advantage in keeping same roster. How hard will Vasilii choke if gets 3 bans in face? Can XWX beat Easyhoon's highscore? Can ackerman be a God of toplane in LA, in place where he got biggest success in his life?
And Dignitas, i'm not going to say anything until they throw first time at Baron Nashor. Angry lizard will be angry always for your sins, Dignitas.

I think if someone dethrone c9 this season and win play-offs undefeated they maybe can a game or two vs korea.

I think people are underestimating Curse. You can talk about the real skill upgrades made by Dig/TSM in the offseason and the fact that LMQ have such skilled laners but the fact of the matter is that those teams still suck at playing the map until they show otherwise.
Curse showed they know how to play the map well in the last few weeks of LCS, they put the screws to TSM until the massive throw in Week 10 and they also did well against C9 in the playoffs. Think about it this way: Curse got more kills in a single 10-minute span of Game 1 VS C9 than TSM did in three entire games.
Quas really started coming into his own at the end of the season, Xpecial can only upgrade the bot lane performance and I think with Yasuo (probably Voy's best champion) becoming more of a meta pick, we could see Curse exceeding a lot of these 6th-place expectations I'm seeing. Doubt they'll be top 3 but I wouldn't be surprised if they end up forever fourth over LMQ and Dig.
Still surprised by all the Dig hype personally. Now you have the shotcallers from Coast and Dig on the same team, I'm sure only hilarity will come from that.

I'm so looking forward to seeing Dignitas. I reckon Shiphtur is going to be awesome with a decent jungler and a bot lane that might carry some of the time.
Cloud 9 are probably heavy favourites again. After that TSM/CLG are up there. As for the rest who knows. The NA scene is very entertaining and I expect an up and down season with a lot of upsets yet again.

We've already seen Curse with top-notch support last season, they finished in relegations quite comfortably. Voyboy is just non-existant in mid, i will take my words back if Voyboy steps up this season and carry Curse, but when you're team of one-threat who is Cop, while Quas is playing tanks - oh boy, it's not good place to be in.
And Dignitas already were best of bottom-5 teams in playing the objectives last season (props to Vlanitak and Scarra i guess), upgrading their lanes isn't bad decision either, so it's not like they will transform to dead horse instantly.
|
The amount of talent compared to previous splits is staggering. Just look at top lane: Balls, Dyrus, Seraph, Ackerman, Zion. Innox, Quas, Westrice. The fact that Zion is not even in the top HALF of LCS toplaners would have been unthinkable last split, and with how much hype Innox/Quas was getting the fact that they'll struggle to hold 1v1 lanes is a testament to how much this has improved.
That said, NA needs to learn objective control and map movements better. C9 and CLG, and to a much lesser extent Dignitas were the only teams last split to show a coherent strategy in their games. LMQ doesn't seem to be there yet either.
EDIT: and as much as I look Voyboy, he's likely going to struggle as well. Excluding Bjergsen, who's still in a class of his own (though I think the gap is much smaller than last split), NA mids have Hai, Link, XWX, Shiphtur, and Pobelter. (I know nothing about complexity so I won't rag on them.) All 5 of those can put up good fights against each other depending on the game/matchup/junglers, but Voyboy would definitely be the odd man out here.

I honestly think Dig is being overhyped - at least for the start of this split. I fucking love Dig, and I really like the addition of Shiphtur and Zion, but that group still has to learn to play together and they already have shotcalling issues as people have pointed out.
I think in the long run Dig could be really strong. Shiphtur is amazing, Zion is good and still growing as a young player, Crumbzz/Qt/Kiwi are all solid, but it's a matter of them getting synergy together and hopefully learning to close out games. That'll take some time, so I'm not really expecting a ton out of them for the first few weeks at the least. It could even take the whole split before they really start working well together.
Also, I think Curse's biggest problem last split was objective control, even moreso than Voyboy not really being a midlaner. They gave up so many dragons and towers for free, and if they do that this split they're going to have a really hard time.

Can't call 5th place as overhype lol.
Well, Curse had better ideas about the game than some other teams but Voyboy is still a quintessence of Curse. He does well - Curse wins, he fails - Curse loses. Sadly for onlywonderboy and Curse, latter happens more.

I actually think this might be the most interesting split in LCS history. Last summer in EU was interesting, but in the end all the teams disappointed (NiP and Alternate were heartbreakers, Gambit and EG steadily declined, SK and MyM were meh, and even Lomodogs in their prime failed against supersayian Fnatic). This time NA has so much potential that even if they meet expectations only in 50%, it should still be interesting.
C9/CLG > TSM/LMQ/CRS/Dig > EG/Col
First of all, I was never a CLG fan up until now so I'm not afraid of being called delusional :^) They have best botlane, likely best toplaner, probably second best jungler and mid who can stand his own against guys like Shiptur and Bjergsen. And in terms of macro strategy, they were just getting better and better throughout the split. Of course they fell against TSM last split so I don't expect them to dominate early, but I think by the end of the split they'll be able to stand their own against C9. And C9 are pretty much the best western team right now so future looks promising for NA.
The second bracket comes from the fact that I have high expectations for LMQ and CRS and low expectations for Dig and TSM. LMQ have a toptier chinese toplaner, a good chinese ADC and the Asian discipline - they weren't toptier in China and being able to dominate challenger scene is hardly something that proves they could potentially be third in LCS, but on paper they look strong. CRS actually did pretty well in terms of macro strategy last time and their biggest problems were botlane roulette and Voyboy. Quas is good, IWDominate is good (I would put him right after Meteos and Germans), Xpecial never stopped impressing me. Maybe they will swap in Mancloud with Voyboy in the middle of the season, who knows :^) TSM... They can definitely be 2nd, maybe Gleeb won't be a big downgrade from Xpecial and Amazing will turn out to be even better than Dexter, but I find it hard to believe in Reginaldo's luck in finding roster members and OddOne's coaching. Dig can just as well be 6th and 2nd, maybe Shiptur is out of elo hell and can be the second Bjergsen, or maybe they still have shitty shotcalling that no ammount of coaching will fix, definitely biggest unknow of this split. Don't have much to say about last two other than "I love Westrice <3" and "Krepo pls retire and replace Quickshot pls".
Oh and I still think that only good western toplaners are Balls and Zoro, I'm expecting Ackerman and Seraph to roflstomp their competition. I'm suprised people are hyping up Innox, but then I don't like EG :^)

As offtop here.
I'm hyped as fuck for this EG. Pobelter and Altec are those boy wonders since ~2012, time to do it, boys. Snoop and Krepo can teach them tricks before retirement after this split, but it's real potential. Not Dignitas.
