hope this helps.
Ah, thanks. I've been using 4-round 2 player mode games to practice combos. This'll be much easier.

Now... if only the joystick recognition were a bit better... >__<
:D glad someone's put it to good use.
try switching your USB Polling rate to 1000mhz. the original polling rate is 250 which guarantees 8ms of lag. switching it to 1000 will give you 1ms, which is a hell of a lot better. i used usbtwkr to do it. it worked really well. but it had spyware. :l

Depending on the range, you can throw it, dash up throw if you're farther away, kara-throw if you're semi close, or regular throw if you're right up next to them. If they are still in block stun you can wait until they're out of block stun. Of course attacking is much easier imho >_> (and probably safer too).

Actually when I play arcade mode I turn off all the events cause I don't like fighting the car, lol.
I don't think anyone has posted it in this thread, but if you haven't seen these matches before, you're missing out. KO vs Daigo from Evo2k3. part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ad_0lfWpjBk part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rP54y4cLy98 These are back when Daigo was in his best form and are probably my favorite sets of 3s matches.
Wow wtf, I was going to try the parrying bonus stage, so I loaded up MAME32 v0.118 (not the Plus Plus version) and ran 3s, but the level backgrounds and other stuff were missing for some reason. Now even when I run it in MAME32k v0.118u1 (the one I use for netplay), the level backgrounds are STILL missing! -_-;;
I have no idea why it isn't working anymore, when it used to work just fine...

ya in almost all cases it's boring, but chun vs chun at the highest highest level is really cutthroat and reminds me more of ZvZ than TvT, with really minute adjustments and control throughout the game.
and on another note I also have weird problems with 3s. It used to run just fine in single player mode, but now it locks up at the cpsIII symbol, unless i play on kaillera, where it will run fine, but lag like crazy~~(dont hate for the comma splices)
So I tried deleting all of the .ini and .cfg files in my original MAME directory. And yet it still does not work correctly.
W T F
... Okay FINALLY I figured out what was wrong: I had to delete the files in the 'nvram' directory. I guess running the game under MAME32 0.118 somehow corrupted those nvram files. Legit, maybe you should try deleting those files, too, and see if it helps.
Man, the CPU Akuma is such a pain in the tushie. Even on a real arcade cabinet with a proper joystick, he still gives me trouble =P. I happened to record him kicking my butt around (literally), but there's no way I'm uploading it on Youtube (lest it end up in SRK's Biggest 3s Scrub Video Challenge topic ). So I put it on sendspace instead.
(If anyone uploads that on Youtube, I will kick their ass. Literally. Like King of the Hill.)
haha bill I saw that scrub thread, there is some pretty damn funny vids in there especially that first one lol. Since I play akuma I've never played his CPU self can't help you there. I use a gamepad I posted pictures of them like on page 33 of the thread or something It has 6 buttons on the front so moves are easier. But I use Akuma so I never do EX moves, Only times I need 2 buttons at once are for Ashura and Kongou
PS- did you guys know you only need 2 buttons for those moves and not 3? try it.
btw, If anyone cares. When recording I used the cps3 emulator on fullscreen and camtasia with changed hotkeys to f8 record and f9 end (f10 is load save state) and the taskbar on auto-hide (that way icons don't flash in and out in the video). just hit esc to cancel out of the fullscreen when you're finished. That way it won't make a laggy video.
I've found a lot of characters with shoryuken-like moves (especially Akuma, Ryu, and Elena) have an annoying tendancy to use them with instantaneous reaction time =P. E.g. one time I had the CPU Ryu walk right up to me, and as soon as I pressed low-kick he shoryuken'd me in my face. And if you watch my video, I started the 1st round off with a fierce dash punch (hayate), and CPU Akuma responded by doing a fierce-shoryuken when I was milliseconds from hitting him -_-.
CPU Elena has the really annoying habit of doing dash-in - shoryu (I forget what her dragon-punch move is called).
I wish Capcom would program the CPUs to react to information that was at least 6 frames in the past, since it is humanly impossible to react any faster than that. That would be a lot cooler: then the CPU would play more human-like, and it would also pose an interesting and fun challenge to their AI coders to write an AI that doesn't have to rely on superhuman reaction time to be a challenge =P.
I was able to record without any lag by running MAME in full screen with 320x240 resolution. FYI: in order to change the full-screen resolution, you have to change the option "change resolution to fit" or whatever. I think this option is under Default Game Options.
