Right, back to SC2 is dying. I think Blizzard is just gonna cancel WCS after Blizzcon, retract any licenses still out there, so nobody is allowed to run tournaments and patch multiplayer out with LOTV.

this would be terrible, we already lost IPL and NASL...

In situations like this when a company says something "may" happen, it's better to be cynical and hope that you're wrong than to be optimistic and be disappointed.
Mainly because they said it "may" happen, but not about how they're "trying to get it to happen". Because if they were, they'd be giving details and updates as to how the process is going.

Indeed that would make there next Expansion very populair ! Now that's marketing.

This does smell like Sundance farting in the wind hoping to fool us it's actually methane gas, however if it is true then I personally don't really care all that much.
But I think we all understand that this is indeed Sundance backhanded way to "stick it to blizzard" hoping to get them to back down on something or rather.

Bummer. This is the one event that is close to home, and is still a 6 hour drive. I had planned to go as I had a blast last year at the event. Hopefully MLG changes their mind :D

Considering this followup-tweet from sundance, I wouldn't hold my breath in regards to MLG Columbus...

it is a sort of a weird business move form mlg.Sc2 even with its fabled "low viewership" has still the second most watched mlg game, slightly ahead of call of duty. Also at the last mlg events all of the seats were sold out.Literally there was no financial reason to drop sc2.People need to realise that sc2 wasnt maintained at mlg until now for humanitarian reasons or "growth of esports" reasons.it was maintained because ot was their second most watched game after lol.even with all the koreans, even with no foreigners sc2 still delivered an audience and viewership. If anything this speaks volumes about the business practices of sundance. And btw who are they gonna replace sc2 with?Dota2 which isnt even that popular in na and has even less competitive na teams than sc2 has na competitive players.Even if they switch to dota2 they still need to bring the european and chinesse teams which will eventually crush any na team as proven at this international. So whats left.COD even with its 100mil players couldnt surpass sc2 viewership numbers and although there apparently are many cod tournaments no cod tournament has any large viewership and cod does even worse than sc2 in terms of stream numbers.WOT tanks who never surpasses 10k on twitch even during their world finals?I would understand dropping sc2 if there were many esports titles with huge viewership but now there is no realistic esports that can match sc2 numbers in na.If there were tournaments would be organized by now.
This might not say much about sc2 dying as much as it says about mlgs business practices. If i had a company and I would drop my second best selling product without no immediate replacement I would be called a very bad businessman.
Oh i forgot sc2 was always sold out in terms of seats which probably is mlgs best revenue stream...very weird on their behalf

I thought insulting Players was against TL rules? Some folks need to get slapped down by the powers that be. Replying to pro-gamers with insults and attempts to belittle them and their achievement should be bannable because that is the exact sort of behaviour that makes pro-gamers post less here at TL. In other words, it reduces one of the most appealing things about the entire website, interaction with the pros. Since when is this disrespect tolerated?
Master of Puppets is quite correct to call out these clowns who are giving Theognis shit.

Truly achievements that get you worldwide sc2 fame. I think it's funny that people who have never achieved ANYTHING AT ALL at any point in SC2 and will almost certainly never do insult a former professional player, regardless of how good he was. Maybe Theognis is nothing compared to Mvp, but you are even less than that compared to him. he literally hasn't achieved anything in sc2 ... hardly professional, just because you get a team on your tag doesn't actually mean you are pro. So hes just another amateur.. like all of us.
Hey sc14s,
maybe you should dictionary.com the word "professional" You have no right to bash someone that did something with their gaming career. Take your gold league status and walk.

Sundance isn't exactly the best business person.

Ofc insulting players is not against TL rules, mods do it all the time.

MOBAs is where it's at. Smart move by MLG, especially considering how Blizzard is more concerned with their WCS product nowadays.

Naniwa know's what's up, i'll go with him TRAITORS !

According to Incontrol's Reddit post, game companies like Riot pay MLG to host their game, while Blizzard makes MLG pay them to run sc2. This shouldn't surprise anyone now that sc2 is not the #1 esport.

It is, some people forget this isnt reddit or whatever LoL forum they frequent.
