You're glad you "got out" long after you should have? This isn't a personal attack, but you sure are asking for one. At least Stephano went out with a humble reason. You're just one bitter retired "progamer" that's taking shots at the scene after "leaving" it.

Truly achievements that get you worldwide sc2 fame. I think it's funny that people who have never achieved ANYTHING AT ALL at any point in SC2 and will almost certainly never do insult a former professional player, regardless of how good he was. Maybe Theognis is nothing compared to Mvp, but you are even less than that compared to him. Cool story bro, but I have not insulted him. Its a simple fact that there are a ton of players that are more known than him and if this guy does not know him its not like he missed one of the best players out there.
Your demeanour and attitude say completely otherwise. As does the fact that you feel the need to bring up the "simple fact that there are a ton of players that are more known than him" in a thread that is completely unrelated to Theognis.
And you're also implying gosublade's post wasn't in the same snarky, trollish tone.

Maybe I'm missing some points or exaggerating others, I'm not 100% in on the details of the scene, but it seems to me that following this announcement is a very ripe opportunity for an up-and-coming tournament organizer to materialize and make a name for themselves.
I wouldn't mind seeing something new jump out onto the top of the scene, it'd be nice.
Or for IEM and Dreamhack to move in? MLG may have plenty to worry about if both those organizations make big pushes for NA events. Which would benefit the viewers all around I think.

Yes.
The facts about him are that he has a 45% winrate over 229 games played against professional players in tournaments.
Let me know when any of you can do better.

Your right, he did beat Jaedong on WCS and no one can change that. And lets be frank, no one can do that in this thread either.
Or the points MasterOfPuppets brings up.

Can we get back on topic instead of all jumping out of our skin for nothing.

One more nugget of factual evidence for you: of the 4974 pro and semi-pro players in the Aligulac database as of this post, Theognis is ranked #354. That's easily top 10%.

But it also doesn't entitle absolute nobodies to troll by asking "who are you".
By the way, what both you and Gr33d miss is that gosublade knows who Theognis is and was just trying to be so edgy omggggg XDDDDD
I'm done with this thread now. Sorry that I didn't let you satisfy your insecurities by shitting on someone infinitely more important than you in the context of this community and game.

Say you meet someone famous, and then you ask who they are, it could be perceived as an insult. Similar idea. Keyword is persevered. Just because you don't play a sport doesn't mean you're not entitled to an opinion on a player's performance. But this wasn't an opinion on a player's performance. They were calling Theognis out on being irrelevant and unknown while they themselves are infinitely more irrelevant and unknown compared to him. You know, not to mention that in and of itself it's kind of a dick move.
These types of conversations involving sports are normal. Go to a sports bar and you will hear the same types of conversations about which basketball player is overrated and which is underrated, it's just a natural topic for sports fans. Everyone has their favorite players/playing styles and they like to speculate on who is the best

Sure, until the next "retired NA progamer" decides to jump into the thread and praise themselves for leaving the scene while they still had the chance and call the scene that made their "careers" possible a joke in a single douchebag statement.

Yeah, you know, except for the fact you are posting in the TL forums where he has been a member of the community since broodwar(2006). Do you not know who incontrol is either? do you rip on his professional performance. Show respect

That would have been a drama free way. (...)
You think? The message to omit one of fhe "biggest" games from an MLG event would have been huge, no matter how it's presented. Even if SC2 will make its comeback at the next event, this news feeds into the impression, that SC2-players and -teams are getting less and less exposure in NA (something sponsors will surely pick up on at some point). Coupled with Blizzard's brilliant idea to position their regional WCS finals against the International this weekend, you can hardly blame anyone for being a bit pessimistic/sceptic about this game's future.
I agree, that a twitter-comment might seem a little too casual considering the controversial nature of the announcement, but I'm not sure, if a "right" approach exists in this case.

1)Someone asked who Theognis is 2) answer is "are you dumb" 3) I say that this response is uncalled for because there are people that just don't care for every NA SC2 player. 4) You argue with some matchwin numbers, are maybe some sort of fanboy and because someone is not clearly better in a friggin game he HAS to know him. What messed up logic is that?
Thats like saying "are you dumb" when somebody does not know some football player in france (or any other country with atleast a "known" league in that sport) when all that guy does is watching EPL,La Liga and Bundesliga.
PS: Even if you are not "better" than someone in a certain thing it gives you the right to atleast talk about it. If a race driver finishes every race in last place or crashes into a wall, I can say that this guy is a bad driver in the environment he is competing in.

I never had any delusions about being good enough to go pro.. it doesn't deny me the right to criticize however. I do not really get what you are trying to accomplish other than attempting to insult me, very clumsily i might add, similar to what i might have had in a conversation with say my brother when he was 10.
