Hello TL!
I fucking did it! Not only once, but twice!
I got two impossible badges since last. They weren’t actually that hard. I guess the styles of the 2 games (which are similar badge-wise) made it easier than the earlier impossible I’ve tried. Both games featured many short maps where you had to complete each short map in a very hard way instead of 1 longer map/play period which had to be beaten. I liked jut being able to hit the brick wall early then wasting 1 hour before failing and having to do the easy part again and again before having a shot at beaten the hard part. But that’s just me rambling…
Games featured today will of course be the two where I got the impossible badges. Meat Boy the platform games that you have probably heard of. Ultimate Assassin 3 a top-down stealth ninja game. The 3rd game was much harder to choose. There is the brilliant dice game called Zilch that I wanted to point out because it can be played in real life as well – which I did with my friends and its really cool!. Then there was GemCraft a solid but looong TD game. I completed a different Papa’s game (see episode 7) called Jacksmith that took ages but was still way better than the last papa’s game. I also played a Worms rip off, but in space with some wonky gravity mechanic that would have been funny to mention. In the end I want to talk about a whole other game…
Meat Boy
Achievements:
- Party Crasher Badge (Unlock the Castle Crasher by collecting 4 band-aids – Medium 15 points, 121.000 before me)
- To Hell and Back Badge (Complete the final level - Hard 30 points, 43.000 before me)
- Band-Aid Fetish Badge (Collect every single band-aid - Impossible 60 points, 27.000 before me)
Plan is: Jump, get band aid, fall, and kiss band aid girl. Reality: Hit saws OVER AND OVER!
To my relief the game was fun. The levels were short and dying wasn’t such a big deal. You’d start over right away. Some of the levels were quite difficult especially when you had to get the band aid as well. I feel very hipster-ish to have played and completed this!
Ultimate Assassin 3
Achievements:
- Easy Does It Badge (Complete the 'easy' level pack – Medium 15 points, 99.000 before me)
- Not Easy Being Green Badge (Complete the 'hard' level pack - Hard 30 points, 4.600 before me)
- Assassin's Greed Badge (Earn all 450 achievements - Impossible 60 points, 2.300 before me)
Since I’m not funny I will yet again steal a comment from this game:
”I hear you have a mission for me. "Yes. This man, green suit. Surrounds himself with short sighted blue suited guards armed with guns." Good. Building layout? "Here you go." Why are there no entrances or exits? "Security." I see. How should I enter? "Don't worry we'll teleport you in here." Impressive, but why not closer? "Don't feel like it." Uh, I see. Okay so I'll start by killing this one and- "No, no killing guards." What? Okay...whatever. I guess I'll just grab my silencer and- "No no! No guns! Here's a knife." ...What? "It's a special knife, trust me." I...okay. Where's my extraction point? "We'll tell you after you take out the target." I...don't want this job.”
That pretty much sums up this game. You are a ninja assassin hired to kill the green man. Avoid the blue guards and escape wherever the exit appears after you killed the green man. Oh and to get the impossible badge you have to do it in less than 30 seconds in every level.
Why are ninja games just cool by definition?
Similarly to meat boy the levels where short. Less than 30 seconds obviously. It is a fast paced games that I enjoyed a lot. It rare that I express any feelings when loosing, but this game got to me. Some of the later levels are super hard where you have to be very lucky with the guard patterns – which are random – to get the job done. Just try over and over and when you are finally close you did it on 31 seconds =(

Achievements:
- Cranial Conquest Badge (Complete all 30 levels – Hard 30 points, 98.000 before me)
”And then I just connect the orange… FUCK!”
Basically the level you see above is the one I cheated on. I tried for maybe 2 hours to complete it and in the end I gave up and find the solution somewhere. Jesus. The first 15 levels are easy. You might have to try a few times to see it but the solution is quite obvious by trial and error. After level 15 some of the levels are fucked. I’m not sure I would be able to complete level 16 now.
I hope you still enjoy reading these. I recommend playing Meat Boy and Ultimate Assassin 3. Really good games both. I’m glad I got to finish some impossible badges. What is a badge hunter with no impossible badges?
Next challenge? Who knows…
