The trait and medallion system did not introduce more RNG to the game, it only made it possible to improve your chances of winning by farming in-game stuff. The game is still skill dependant, and getting the best traits and medallions doesn't take very long time.

Not sure what you are implying....the "dumb customization" is just a feature that reward players who...plays on the same account, it permits to try to limit the endless smurf account that were rigging the ladder system at lower level... Nothing which tweaks the stats on the champions can be bought with RL money, it is just ingame reward for the player.

Smurfing isn't a big problem, the problem is that people like to blame something/someone else when they lose, so they just whine that someone is smurfing. Also some (very few) people are d-bags and stomp noobs intentionally. But the "reward farmers" system was designed primarily to make money, and to give retards some sense of progress. Could you please, turn your brain on, and realize that NOTHING in the system of Traits/Medalions/Gems can be bought with funcom points ? You have level limitations for traits tier, as well as bloodcoins as only currency available. It permits to reward only the players, not any kind of "yes I has IRL money I am imba !"... As for the smurfing thing, when I started this game it was litterally one match out of three when there were at least one person smurfing, it was so obvious how efficient and precise they were compare to me and the other scrubs who were learning the game. The amateur tournament was also full of it.

Funcom Points:+ Show Spoiler + So yeah, you have to play for some time even with the boosts. Still it's not exactly what it was in the beginning, eh? The amateur tournament was also full of it. Interesting. So someone has to be smurfing because they are better? You realize that the people who stomped you in the amateur tournament would probably lose pretty badly to the people in the pro tournament, right?

TL;DR Are there any other tournament sponsers than just BL gaming?(Steel series etc) How can I share my love for the game if Canadian ISP's dont let me? Edit: Is this going to be a Dream hack 2012 summer? Cause apparently this game was in the 2011 winter and i'm interested if it was/is going to be streamed.

For tourneys there is sometimes a Open Cup or some other holiday special tournament. No news about DHS 2012 yet, but there are more russian and european ladders and tourneys being announced. A very good blog with daily updates.

The more optimized code is, you can cut a lot of corners with advanced algorithms, the better the performance will be. Trouble is, optimization is a slow and extremely complex operation, you have to have a set of top tier programmers working on a project for a while, and you have to pay them to do it. You'll notice that games like Skyrim and SC2 can run on low end systems because blizzard and bethesda have both spent large portions of their budget fixing + fine tuning their engine. Smaller companies, such as Funcom or even something like Mojang, don't have the time or the funding for extreme optimization, hence the high system reqs. Maybe nobody cares much anyway. edit: Not to say minecraft has "high system reqs" but you can imagine that if a large company made MC then you would be able to render further and still have better FPS than in the version we have.
